It's been almost 1095 days since…

Ha! Got you!

Well, I was reading Susan's post at The Insecure Writer's Support Group website, about the importance of numbers in your blog title. Apparently, people are attracted to a title that contains numbers… so I decided to try it out!

So let's take two ———- *drum roll* ————

It's been almost 1095 days since… I started blogging! Yes, my blog will be 3 years old end of this month, which means it's celebration time!

So I present to you my celebratory bloghop.

THE UBUNTU BLOGHOP

What is ubuntu? "In Africa, there is a concept known as UBUNTU – the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world, it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others." – Nelson Mandela.

So in the spirit of ubuntu, I invite you to join me in celebrating my 3rd blogoversary!

Date – 18th to 21st February. I've allowed 4 days to make it easier for you guys, since some people only post once a week… save the date that coincides with your blogging schedule!

What can you contribute?

Any form of creativity that captures the spirit of ubuntu is welcome!

~ You can write a poem.

~ Or design some artwork – an illustration, drawing, a photo (or even a series of pictures that tell a story)

~ Write flash fiction.

~ Or non-fiction (a personal story or one that you've seen on TV/in a newspaper/magazine)

~ A short inspirational piece/quote (if you're pressed for time, but REALLY want to participate…)

~ Or simply your thoughts/reflections/hopes with regards to an ubuntu-filled existence…

What next?

Sign up on the Linky List. This means you intend to post between Tuesday 18th Feb. and Friday 21st Feb.

Spread the word! The more the merrier!

Prepare your post – not exceeding 500 words…

Don't stress – have fun!

Because participants will be posting on different days, please leave a message on my blog /or a FB message/ or e-mail me, to let me know that your post is up.

Hop around to as many blogs as possible, to read the variety on display.

Any questions? Mail me – mish@writer-in-transit.co.za

(I'd love to give a prize to the entry that captures the "essence of ubuntu". I'm still working on it and will let you know more later…)

THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have to think about this and see if it's something I can fit into my much reduced blogging world. (And yes, the number thing did work!)

  8. Hilary on January 12, 2014 at 11:12 am

Hi Michelle .. yes the number thing did work – congratulations on nearly three years — tomorrow I go a little further .. but that's tomorrow!  I'm sure I can come up with something relative to Ubuntu – it's a great form of philosophy … and I love your photo art – that's just wonderful to see … I love Africa!

Cheers and happy new year – Hilary

I blog as my day job and blogs that have a title like "5 Ways to Improve Your Social Media Presence" are preferred over "How to Improve Your Social Media Presence."

Great to meet you Stephanie! Thanks for joining us! Blogiversary… blogoversary…? Good question. I'm not sure… Blogging is your day job? As in a 9-5 job? Sounds fabulous… and interesting… I'm off to check out your blog…
