Celebrate The Small Things + 3Ups Blog Hop

The 3-UPS bloghop is a Pay it Forward style hop/chain, created by Randi Lee over at The Emotional Process Of Writing A Novel. It works like this: each blogger will pick the blogger listed below them, visit his or her site, read a post or two, and then tell them three things they like about the person or his or her blog. Easy enough, right? And imagine how good you'll feel after making someone else’s day?

You can give your Ups in any way you like (such as leaving them in your “Upee’s” blog comments section, e-mailing your Upee, or mentioning your Upee directly on your blog.)

My "Upee" is Beverly Fox who blogs over at The Beveled Edge. Bev is a wonderful lady who I met during Celebrate The Small Things, which is a weekly meme hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author.

My 3 UPS for Bev are:

~ UP no.#1… to your SNAPSHOTS! This was Bev's A to Z challenge theme during April. Bev has written several fiction pieces that depict a snapshot in time. Either a particular moment in a character's life, a scene with cinematic features, a place observed for a moment. The idea was always to try and capture what makes that moment that moment. That was the goal for her A to Z challenge: 26 snapshots, capturing 26 moments in time, each one written in less than 500 words. And she rocked the challenge!

~UP no.#2… to KARATE which is Bev's passion and number one stress reliever. It keeps her sane! You can read all about it HERE

~UP no.#3… goes to WRITING EVERY DAY! This is what Bev has been doing for the past two months or so. Congratulations!

I also want to thank Bev for the Liebster Blog award she gave me a little while back.

HERE ARE BEV'S QUESTIONS:
1) What is the last book you purchased?
Paperback? The Book Thief by Mark Zusak. E-book? I purchased a whole batch at once on an Amazon shopping spree with the $75 gift I won during April. That was super-fun!

2) Recall your last dream.  What happened?
I don't really remember my dreams… Ha, for all I know, I'm not even dreaming.

3) Name something that you do alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
Now why on earth would I want to share that, if I won't do it in front of others… LOL

4) Name the last album you purchased.
Album? When last have I heard that word? As in photo album? Or music? Most stuff is mp3 format these days… or am I missing something here?

5) Any scars?  If more than one, pick one and tell us how you got it.  If none, tell us about your most bone-headed injury.
A few knee scars from climbing the guava tree in our neighbour's front yard when we were 10 or 11 years old… somewhere around there…

6) Favorite quote?
I have quite a few favourites, so it's difficult to pinpoint just one…

In Africa, there is a concept known as ubuntu – the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world, it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievements of others – Nelson Mandela.

7) Most exotic (your definition) location you've been to?
Ooh-la-la… that would have to be Paris…

8) If you could meet any famous person from history, who would it be?
Not too sure… maybe Dr.Seuss?

9) What are your nicknames?
Mishy… Mish…

10) Favorite childhood T.V. show?
Well, by the time TV came to our shores, I was already a teenager… though I can remember enjoying Little House On The Prairie and Bonanza.

11) If you could have a super power, what would you have?
I'm not too sure of the details, but it would have to be a musically-related super power…

This post also forms part of Celebrate The Small Things bloghop.

Here are a few more celebratory things:

~I read another book by a bloggy buddy and posted a review on Goodreads

~Encouraging a young girl with her writing and helping her to set up her blog

~The wonderful feeling when I posted the "hamper" to the winner of my AtoZ competition

Karate? I won't mess with her then!

    That Mandela quote is awesome.

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:36 pm

      Bev's high-spirits + karate = a butt-kicking lady! Definitely not to be messed with. 🙂

A musically-related superpower, eh?  Haven't heard that one before.  Now I'm off to imagine just what that would be…

    Have a good weekend! 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:41 pm

Ah, it lends itself to all sorts of awesome possibilities. Maybe the super-ability to play every instrument very well… or a heightened sense of musical sound which is linked to teleportation powers…?

I love all the things you're celelbrating, and your coy Liebster answers! lol

    Great quote from Mandela. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:46 pm

By now, you might have noticed that I don't like to talk about myself… I like your choice of the word "coy"… it reminds me of Shakespeare… 🙂

    Great things in this post.

I'd love to play many music instruments. I never got into music like I wanted to.

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:47 pm

It's never too late Medeia. And I think it would be less stressful than learning to swim! 🙂

  6. Nick Wilford on May 24, 2013 at 8:55 pm

What a cool thing to nurture a young writer. Congrats on the award!

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:49 pm

I wish somebody had discovered and encouraged my interest in writing when I was younger… thanks Nick!

  7. S. Katherine Anthony on May 25, 2013 at 3:57 am

I have to go check out Beverly's blog soon, it looks cool. I think its wonderful that you are supporting fellow writers and helping out the young girl, great things to celebrate 😉

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:51 pm

Thanks S.K. Bev is a great lady! I love supporting fellow writers and I'm very excited about mentoring the young girl.  🙂

  8. Brandy on May 25, 2013 at 5:31 am

How lovely that you are shaping young minds! You are the second person I have visited who posted about 3 UP! blog hop…I think I might just have to join!

    • Michelle Wallace on May 25, 2013 at 2:53 pm

You should check out the bloghop. It's a great way to network with other bloggers/writers.

Great celebrations. And I'm looking forward to seeing my prize! I'm listening to The Book Thief on audio book. I think I'd probably would like it better just reading it because of the guys accent. He's understandable, just not the voice that would be in my head if I read it myself. It's still quite good though.

    Sounds like a cool bloghop.

    • Michelle Wallace on May 26, 2013 at 7:33 am

It's an amazing story! The best I read in 2012. I've never done the audio book thinggie… must give it a try sometime.

  10. Suzanne Furness on May 26, 2013 at 2:44 pm

Helping a young writer seems like a great thing to celebrate. A music related super power would be something different to have. Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

    • Michelle Wallace on May 26, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Helping a young writer is a great way to pay it forward! Thanks Suzanne!

  11. M. J. Joachim on May 26, 2013 at 9:01 pm

Go Bev! Such a wonderful blog indeed! Congrats on your award, btw. Most important of all imho, however is helping someone set up their own blog. Kudos to you! Cheers!

    • Michelle Wallace on May 27, 2013 at 8:07 pm

M.J. you are so right! When I started my first blog with blogger, there was nobody to help me, it was pure trial and error! So I'm more than happy to help others wherever I can because I know how difficult it was at the beginning…

  12. Sherry Ellis on May 26, 2013 at 11:37 pm

Great 3-Up for Bev.  She's one super-nice lady!
