Beginnings Blogfest + Cover Reveal for Solomon’s Compass

I'm going to keep it short and simple. I always link the beginnings of my writing journey to my love for words. The two are intertwined.

Words… words… words… for me, it begins with words! I simply LOVE words. I've always had a "thing" for words. After all, words are the building blocks of writing.

I love the written word in all its many and varied forms: stories, poems, quotes, haikus, slogans, adverts, reports, drabbles, flash fiction… I could go on and on… I've always felt comfortable around words. Always felt this connection, sense of knowing and contentment.
I simply love the many facets of the written word: the ebb and flow… the push and pull… the literal and figurative… evocative and provocative… clarity and ambiguity… foreign and familiar… once again, I could go on and on…
Words have a life of their own! Words can elevate you to dizzy heights and then drop you to the depths of despair. Such is the power of words.

This cover reveal was planned for Monday 07 January, which means I'm 4 days late. My apologies. I've had such a hectic week. Anyway, I figured it would be okay to post it today…

Solomon's Compass
By Carol Kilgore

Taylor is in Rock Harbor, Texas, on a quest to unearth her uncle’s treasure—a journey far outside the realm of her real life. There’s one glitch. Taylor's certain the buried treasure was all in Uncle Randy's dementia-riddled mind. Now he’s dead.

Former SEAL Jake Solomon is in Rock Harbor under false pretenses to protect Taylor from the fate that befell her uncle and the other members of a tight circle of Coast Guardsmen called the Compass Points who served together on Point boats in Vietnam.

Jake is definitely not supposed to become involved with Taylor. That was his first mistake. Taylor is attracted to Jake as well, but she refuses to wait for him to locate the killer when she knows her plan will force her uncle’s murderer into action.

But the killer's actions are just what Jake is afraid of.

  20. J.L. Campbell on January 15, 2013 at 12:03 am

Carol definitely has an interesting cover.
I think all of us writers have a love-hate relationship with words. They ebb and flow, make life wonderful and sometimes miserable, when they won't come out right.

    • michelle on January 15, 2013 at 8:39 am

Spot on, Joy! You've summed it up neatly… 🙂

  21. Jen on January 15, 2013 at 2:21 pm

Sometimes, words are the only things that can bring me comfort, joy, or peace. I have always loved words! I was (and still am) the kid in the corner with her nose stuck in a book. My favorite days during elementary school were book fair days! We should have book fair days for adults!
    Happy Tuesday,
    Jen

    • michelle on January 15, 2013 at 3:03 pm

Ah, book fair days for adults… sounds heavenly Jen! I totally agree! 🙂

  22. Medeia Sharif on January 16, 2013 at 12:10 am

    I'm in love with words.

I look forward to Carol's new book. I enjoyed her debut.
