C is for CassaStar + Christine’s Odyssey + Claudia Must Die

C - 2016Welcome to the annual A to Z Challenge.

My theme: showcasing bloggers books, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections and some non-fiction books. The letters of the alphabet will correspond with the book title. I’ll be posting a link to my review of each book. I also have two questions for the author, just to spice things up a little.

Hopefully, visitors to my blog will be able to increase their reading lists and also get ideas for their wish lists.

CassaStar by Alex J Cavanaugh. Read my review HERE.

Cassastar

Genre/Category: Science fiction – space opera.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: I’d want to have a drink (no coffee) with Agent Pendergast from Preston and Child’s series. He’s a bit messed up but it would be an interesting conversation.

What would you name the autobiography of your life? The Reluctant Author and his Ninja Clones!

Christine’s Odyssey by Joy L Campbell. Read my review HERE.

Christine's Odyssey

Genre/Category: Young Adult novel.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: James Herriot and that would be because of his range of experiences as a vet and the humorous spin on the stories that surround his work.

What would you name the autobiography of your life? If I Knew Then What I Know Now.

Claudia Must Die by T B Markinson. Read my review HERE.

Claudia Must Die

Genre/Category: Suspense.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: Abraham Lincoln in Gore Vidal’s novel Lincoln.

What would you name the autobiography of your life? Picking Myself Up After Each Stumble.

One lucky winner will receive an e-book of CassaStar. The second lucky winner will receive an e-book of Christine’s Odyssey. The third lucky winner will receive an e-book of Claudia Must Die (mobi/epub/pdf). Please leave an e-mail address after your comment by Thursday 07th April, if you wish to be entered in the giveaway. Winners will be announced on Friday 08th April.

What would you name the autobiography of your life? I have yet to read a Preston and Child’s novel…which one do you suggest I read first? If you are a writer/artist, name a phrase that describes you best, at this particular stage of your artistic journey. Which president would you choose to have coffee/tea/wine with? What would you ask him?

Thanks for the feature! I’m in some good company.
And start with The Relic. Excellent book. Skip the film though. They left out the main character, Pendergast himself!

Nelson Mandela would be my President of choice.
Love Alex’s choice of a name for his autobiography. πŸ™‚
Thanks for featuring Christine. That little star is dear to my heart.

  3. Medeia Sharif on April 4, 2016 at 8:07 am

I’ve read all three books. How wonderful to see them all together.

  4. Nilanjana Bose on April 4, 2016 at 8:14 am

Love all the choices of author autobiographies!

The phrase that describes me – the deeper I get into it, the more clueless I feel I am πŸ™‚

James Herriot and President Mandela would be on my wishlist too. And so would be Robert Mugabe, for different reasons.

  5. Nicola on April 4, 2016 at 8:14 am

YAY!!!! I have all three books. Ashamedly, unread at present but they are very close to the top of the ‘to read’ list. Congrats to all the authors of these fabulous titles!! Thanks for the post, Michelle. Monday has started off really well and positive.

That was wonderful of you to feature Joy and Alex’s books.

  8. Rhonda Albom on April 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm

I loved Alex’s books, but I haven’t read the others here.

  9. Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor on April 4, 2016 at 1:03 pm

I would love to have a coffee with Jimmy Carter and ask him about his charitable works. I think it would be an interesting and inspiring conversation. I haven’t read any of these books and would love to win one in the giveaway πŸ™‚

  10. Christine Rains on April 4, 2016 at 1:05 pm

All fantastic books. I’ve read both Alex’s and TB’s. And it depends on what you’re in the mood for when you start reading. πŸ™‚

Two out of three today. Am now putting Christine’s Odyssey on my TBR list!

  12. Mary Aalgaard on April 4, 2016 at 1:33 pm

Can I have more than one answer? When I was a girl, I was most impressed with Abraham Lincoln. He was president at a very difficult time, trying to abolish slavery in the US and the Civil War. A more modern president, though, that I am curious about is Ronald Reagan. I’d like to ask him how he went from actor to president. And, I’d also like to talk with Maggie Thatcher, and of course we’d have tea. What was it like to be a woman running a powerful country and negotiating with all those men.

Happy Birthday to your mom, also in April. It sounds like your moms are very similar. I always felt encouragement from my mom to play the piano and share my gifts.

Certainly being drawn towards Claudia Must Die. Another one for the list perhaps.

    I’ve read TB’s book, excellent!
I’d love to have tea with Obama! Can you imagine the world today if Congress had actually worked with him instead of trying to destroy him. Amazing!

    Happy April 4th!

Title of my autobiography: I Did What Now?

Preston and Child novel to start with: The Relic

As a writer the phrase, Stop screwing around and get to work! would apply.

    President to meet: Lincoln

Question to ask: Did you free the slaves out of the goodness of your heart or was it purely a political move?

  16. Crystal Collier on April 4, 2016 at 3:06 pm

Well the third one was new to me. I don’t think I’d ever pen an autobiography…other than my journals, but those are completely just for me. I like sharing life experiences with others, but I’m not sure I’d want anyone to know what my inner dialog was while struggling through. *shrugs*

  17. Mary Burris on April 4, 2016 at 3:47 pm

My autobiography would be titled “This Too Shall Pass”
I’m not sure I would want to have coffee or drinks with any of the presidents. Can’t really say why, other than I’m just not impressed with them.

I would like to have a tea with Abe Lincoln, because he is such an American icon and I would like to discuss what his opinions on his country are.

You’ve done a great job choosing books to feature this year, Michelle. I know the authors and I know they must be very pleased to be featured on your blog.

  21. Silvia Villalobos on April 4, 2016 at 6:28 pm

I’ve read Lee Child and would recommend his thrillers (am an avid mystery/thriller reader). As for the phrase that would describe me at this point .. wanderer, forever curious.
Interesting to see the book list here, Michelle, and your reviews are informational. It’s difficult to write an objective review, and I think you’ve accomplished that. Thank you.

  22. J.H. Moncrieff on April 4, 2016 at 7:35 pm

Alex is such an amazing person. Thanks for featuring his book!

I’d choose Obama. He seems like such a nice, relatable person who’d be easy to talk to. The others were a bit stiff.

  23. Jemima Pett on April 4, 2016 at 8:03 pm

I think my autobiography might be “Travels with my Guinea Pigs” for the simple reason it’s their fault I started writing fiction.

I have Cassastar on my kindle already. It’s getting closer to the top of my TBR list!

    Enjoying your AtoZ, Michelle!

  24. Ryan Carty on April 4, 2016 at 8:14 pm

Oh dear! By the end of the month, I’ll have a reading list longer than my arm.

  25. Liesbet on April 4, 2016 at 8:18 pm

The autobiography of my life would have to be called “Roaming About” or something similar, like I called my blog. πŸ™‚ A phrase that describes me best at this point in my book writing? It would be nothing flattering… more like “the procrastinator”, the “excuse finder”, the “always thinking “there is something more important to do” busy bee”. I don’t know too much about American presidents, but my question would be “Why in earth would you want to become a president? And, how do you deal with the constant compromises and letting go of your idealism along the way?

  26. Elise Ronan on April 4, 2016 at 8:44 pm

I adore space opera. Of course my taste is the popular ones, anything written by David Weber of course. Honor Harrington is definitely my hero in so many ways, but yet still flawed in so many ways simply because she is still a man’s fantasy.

The President I would like to meet is George Washington or truly any of the founding fathers. I wouldn’t be picky. I would ask them simply what gave them the strength/fortitude to go up against the greatest Empire ever known and create a nation that would allow future generations to define themselves.

My autobiographical statement:…presented with challenges that are continuing to unfold, she has done her imperfect best, as well as she could, with as much love as she could muster.

I have TB’s book but haven’t read it yet. Thanks for introducing me to Christine’s Odessey by J.L. Campbell. I will check that one out.

  28. Molly on April 4, 2016 at 10:46 pm

Interestingly, I think the title of my memoir and the phrase that describes the current spot on my writing journey are one and the same: Silencing Delilah (that inner voice that says I’m not good enough).

  29. Megan Morgan on April 4, 2016 at 10:50 pm

I see Alex there! Need to check these out.

A phrase that describes me best right now: blossoming!

  30. Donna on April 4, 2016 at 11:47 pm

Good job at coming up with C titled books. I’m going with genres and themes because I kept blanking when I tried to pair titles with the letters. lol. Donna at Girl Who Reads

  31. betty on April 5, 2016 at 12:30 am

There are lots of bloggers that are published writers πŸ™‚ Haven’t read any of these πŸ™‚ My title for the autobiography would probably be “I’m not Making Any of This Up.” I think I would enjoy having a drink with President Reagan πŸ™‚

I love these autobiography titles. I don’t think mine would be as entertaining or profound.

I’m always amazed by the quality of the covers, let alone what is inside πŸ™‚
