Celebrate + Write Club + Bloggy Loving

Today I'd like to celebrate small things, medium things, large things… the size doesn't really matter. It's all about the celebration. This awesome bloghop is hosted by VikLit over at Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author.  Check it out!

I'm celebrating the following:

~ Writing: I did quite a bit of writing this past week, for submission purposes, and for my novella/novelette, and tried to piece some of the story together…

~ Reading: I read a dark speculative fiction anthology which consists of 9 stories, and posted a review on Goodreads…

~ Bloggy love: I received another Liebster award from two wonderful ladies…

Other celebratory news includes:

WRiTE CLUB – I have approximately one week to complete, polish and submit a piece which should be under 500 words. Click on the badge for more info.

Don't forget Monday the 24th June, is the The Thrill Of It All bloghop, hosted by Tara Tyler. There's still time to sign up! Click on the badge for more info.

We invite you to thrill us!

Thank you to Tara Tyler who blogs at TaraTylerTalks and C.Lee Mackenzie from The Write Game for the lovely Liebster Award!

Liebster Award IITARA'S QUESTIONS

1. What's your nickname? (make one up if you don't have one)
Mish or Mishy
2. What genre do you read most? Mystery/suspense/thriller
3. What celebrity would you love to meet? First choice. Nelson Mandela.
4. What is your favorite age? I love to spend time with small babies and elderly folk
5. Facebook or Twitter? Equal. Though not too much time spent on either one…
6. What awesome thing will you do when your book is published? I have no idea. But this question will probably play on my mind for the rest of the day.
7. What book would you like to see turned into a movie? Sorry, but books turned into movies don't really do it for me. Plus I'm not really a movie person. An added note, my favourite movie is Shawshank Redemption, but I've never read the novel… and am reluctant to do so…I'm wondering if I should? I also heard that The Book Thief is being made into a movie? How on earth would it translate to the screen? The story has a distinct writing voice/style…lots of adaptation for sure…
8. Where were you born? I think I was born at home…
9. Name a place you'd like to visit some day. The Caribbean islands…
10. Are you a Summer, Winter, Fall, or Spring? Definitely summer
11. Any regrets? Every human being has regrets at some stage of life… I do think that regret is a waste of good energy…

C.LEE'S QUESTIONS – AND THERE ARE ONLY 5

1. Close your eyes. Make a wish. What did you wish for? World peace.
2. If you could do one thing differently what would that be? Start writing earlier in life…
3. You have month to do whatever you want, wherever you want. Money's not a concern. I'm paying. 🙂 What would you do? Where would you do it? Travel. Organise a one-week writing retreat for online writing buddies. Initiate a compulsory literacy programme in all primary schools with the minister of education, suitably qualified/experienced educators, and in accordance with the educational department policy.
4. Do you dream? If so, what's your favorite dream? I don't dream enough…
5. What's your favorite thing to do when you're not reading, writing, blogging, sleeping? Listen to music… practise new songs… think up new ideas for my classroom music appreciation lessons… take a drive somewhere… spend time with family/friends…

And that's a wrap! Have a great weekend! 🙂

One week left on the Write Club deadline – you can do it.

    Mishy? Better than Mushy, right?

Didn't know you taught music appreciation. Very cool.

Having read Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption before seeing the movie, I'm not sure how it would work going the other way. The novella is awesome, though. And good luck with your Write Club entry! 🙂

I loved The Book Thief, but you're right, I've no idea how that will translate to the big screen. I loved Dracula the movie (Bram Stokers, in the 90's), but when I read the book, they were quite different with regards to a few characters and ertainly the 'love story' elements. I felt let down and a little dissapointed, although I loved the book too. They are separate in my mind – not to derrerent medium perspectives from the same source (if that even makes sense?).

    Hi, Melissa,

I really enjoyed learning more about you. You are such a selfless and quality person. Caring about others' needs before you own. Toche'!

Congrats on the awards! Well deserved!

    Have a wonderful weekend too…

  6. L. Diane Wolfe on June 21, 2013 at 3:34 pm

You should read that novelette length story. It wasn't my favorite in The Four Seasons, but it was the best adapted.

  7. S. Katherine Anthony on June 21, 2013 at 3:54 pm

Reading and writing are always reasons to celebrate for me, congratulaitons on the award!

Shawshank Redemption, love the movie, never read the book either. Also, teaching a music appreciation class sounds awesome!

I tell you, Michelle, I need as many reminders as possible for this Write Club. Thanks! Your reminder got me to finally post about it for tomorrow and decide to try and write something while away at camp this weekend.

Great that you're writing so much, and supporting other writers with reviews – THE best way to go. Congrats on your blog award – nice answers.

  11. Carol Kilgore on June 21, 2013 at 9:18 pm

The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie too and I've never gone back to read the book for the same reason! Enjoyed reading your answers.

Congrats on the productive writing week and best of luck with Write Club!

      Alex ~ LOL to Mushy… 🙂

Madeleine ~ You should give the movie a try, and see how you feel. It also depends on whether you are a movie person, or not (I think…)

Shah ~ That's exactly what I'm afraid of – feeling let down.

      Michael ~ Touche' 🙂

Trisha ~ Yes, more positives is the way to go… though I think that it IS up to the individual to create the positives…

L.Diane ~ I'll check it out (gotta make a note of it or else I'll forget…)

S.K. ~ In general, a movie always seems to have less than the novel, so imagine how awesome the story is? Or I may be wrong…?

Lexa ~ I read Ellie Garratt's Passing Time anthology.

Murees ~ Thanks. I'll give it my best shot. That's all I can do… 🙂

Nancy LaRonda ~ Writing reviews is a great way of supporting other writers… paying it forward… and I love to help out wherever and whenever I can.

Carol ~ Thank you. And I loved your Friday Top Ten post. Those posts are always such fun.

Julie F ~ What was your impression of the book? As good as the movie… or better?

  13. Meredith on June 22, 2013 at 2:38 am

    Hey, Michelle,

Sounds like you've accomplished quite a lot this week. It's always good to learn more about writers/bloggers.Regrets do eat up time that could be better spent. Congrats on the awards.

  15. Vidya Sury on June 22, 2013 at 6:53 am

Hey Michelle! I just loved your answers to Tara's questions – and I am still spooked about how I would have said the same things!  🙂 very nice feeling though!

I have stuff to celebrate (yeah, size doesn't matter) but I'll have to do it on a fortnightly basis. Thanks to internet issues, I don't spend too much time online. Can barely keep up with thrice a week!

Hugs – and thanks again for the wonderful read. I'd love to read your 500-word piece!

  16. Viklit on June 22, 2013 at 6:44 pm

I enjoyed reading the answers to your questions.  I think Nelson Mandela would be an interesting person to meet.

  19. Tyrean on June 23, 2013 at 12:49 am

The Carribbean sounds good to me too . . . oh, wait, I'll stop daydreaming now.

Good luck with Write Club! I'll be watching from the sidelines this year. I'm sure you'll do great, Michelle. I'm so behind on posting my blog love, I really need to get on that!

  24. Milo James Fowler on June 23, 2013 at 10:47 pm

Good luck with Write Club — sounds like a great challenge! Regret is definitely a waste of good energy. I regret not having written for 10 years, during late college and early career, but I’m making up for it now.

Vidya ~ Aww, I'm sorry to hear about internet issues. It's understandable though. Fortnightly posting is still better than nothing.

Similar answers, hey? We must be kindred spirits… 🙂

      Viklit ~ Definitely Vik!

MPax ~ Whenever I pop over to your place, you always seem to have accomplished so much for that particular week. I admire you.
