DRABBLE CHALLENGE ~ WIND

The drabble challenge is a weekly challenge hosted by Aheila on her blog :http://thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com  A reminder how it works : read the prompt and find your angle ; write a drabble (100 word story , give or take 5 words) ; post a direct link to the drabble in your comments

An old wise woman always said : It is an ill wind that blows nobody good . I wondered about this , basking in the caress of a gentle breeze , as airy and insubstantial as a zephyr ; taunting and playful , lifting and twirling papers and leaves in its harmless , directionless pathway .

It is an ill wind that blows nobody good . The words linger … yet the windstorm has passed ; blazing a path of devastation , leaving behind a legacy of destruction … hurricane , cyclone , tornado , derecho or monsoon (a windstorm is a windstorm by any other name). And I wonder – what good could possibly emerge from such unfathomable annihilation .

Wind can be so destructive but I also see it as purifying. We live surrounded by mountains and sometimes the "basin" collects pollution so that the wind clears the air. On the other hand, because we're in high desert, it can stir up sand. Good take on the drabble.

Both destructive & purifying ~ that’s really interesting … and it makes sense ! Thanks for drawing my attention to these facts .

It's a great reminder not to forget the destructive force of nature though we can admire its beauty as well. Very nice, M!
