Feeling of being an expert at something!

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:08 pm

A feeling involving some sort of purging ritual? Maybe? No? Oh yes, I forgot, that's my definition! LOL

  2. Sherry Ellis on April 5, 2013 at 5:27 pm

A group of experts who have mastered the fine art of purging.  Expergefaction.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:10 pm

Yes, I so agree! I do like the "fine art" touch… it does lend a certain dash of skill to this procedure…?

  3. Julie Flanders on April 5, 2013 at 7:15 pm

Your explanation and the pics made me laugh out loud. 😀

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:11 pm

Glad to provide some entertainment, Julie! 🙂

  4. Mary on April 5, 2013 at 11:10 pm

The pics say exactly what came to mind when reading expergefaction.

The real definition is: Hiding the truth

  5. Elizabeth W Gibson on April 5, 2013 at 11:32 pm

It's a contest you can purge the most.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:12 pm

Ooooh, it sounds like loads of messy fun! Eeew! LOL!

  6. C. Lee McKenzie on April 5, 2013 at 11:48 pm

No. No. No. You guys are all wrong. Expergefaction is all about the attempt to get rid of excess clutter. e.g. former fractious boyfriends or girlfriends or last year's skinny jeans because . . .well because of all that Easter candy, that's why.

    ex=out

perge (variation in spelling of purge)= cleanse, purify

    faction=a group of something

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:17 pm

If you gotta blame it on something, then blame it on the candy. Aha! I'm suffering with anti-expergefaction… struggling to get rid of some excess clothing which I haven't put to use in a long time… mmm… maybe some candy will do the trick!

I was thinking along the lines of exorcism and satisfaction. . .

    Ridding the world of bacon?

    😛

  8. Tyrean on April 6, 2013 at 1:16 am

I think it's about getting rid of another faction . . . political, possibly, or just getting rid of a group of people . . .

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:19 pm

I know which group I'd like to "expergefact"… the tons of spammers! Aaaaargh!

  9. J.L. Campbell on April 6, 2013 at 2:24 am

    Michelle,

Finally able to comment! Expergefaction sounds like exactly what you described it as. Funny pics too. 🙂

Something I may have done after eating that bad hot dog at the movie.

I have to say, I love this theme.

What I know expergefaction to be is THE most expensive spa treatment you can get, that pretty much skins you alive by exfoliating the first layer of your skin with a specialized scraping brush, and then replaces it with a healing emolient that not only heals, but acts to give you a new look. It can even make you a different shade, change some of the muscle formations, and give you a new personality.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:23 pm

Sounds like a highly-advanced-all-in-one-life-changing-spa-treatment! I need me some of that "expergefactionary treatment"! Do you have the secret formula? Lots of money could be made from this.

It's the satisfaction you enjoy from expertly purging your husband's unneeded golf clubs, swimming trophies, and old toothbrushes he swears he will use in the garage.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:25 pm

I think all wives SHOULD experience a "spousal expergefactionary" moment from time to time… it's good for the soul… and good for the spouse too!! 🙂

  13. Nick Wilford on April 6, 2013 at 4:23 am

I don't have anything else to offer here, just chuckling at all the explanations!

  14. Lexa Cain on April 6, 2013 at 7:27 am

You're almost right. It's how vomit left at room temperature for a long time turns rancid, putrifies, and eventually becomes rock hard. Where do you think all those "fake" vomit gag-gifts come from? They're real!

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:27 pm

Eew! now I have vivid images of "real" gag-gifts…

  15. Medeia Sharif on April 6, 2013 at 9:26 am

This is a real word. I'd rather just say "waking up."

  16. Julie on April 6, 2013 at 9:30 am

EXPERGEFACTION – To get even with the exacerbating expert, the employee rammed a large object up his superior's exterior. Surprisingly, he received a raise.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:29 pm

ROTFL! This encapsulates the essence of the word. In a fun way! 🙂

  17. DL Hammons on April 6, 2013 at 1:44 pm

I like your definition too much to come up with my own!  LOL!! 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:30 pm

      Come on DL… S-T-R-E-T-C-H that imagination… 🙂

  18. Lara Lacombe on April 6, 2013 at 5:59 pm

Expergefaction: the tendency of a self-proclaimed 'expert' to pontificate endlessly on their favorite subject.

  19. Michelle Wallace on April 8, 2013 at 12:31 pm

To me, it sounds like the height of verbosity AND pomposity… *chuckles* Nice one, Lara!
