G is for Garden Of Lost Souls + Givin’ Up The Ghost

G - 2016 Welcome to the annual A to Z Challenge.

My theme: showcasing bloggers books, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections and some non-fiction books. The letters of the alphabet will correspond with the book title. I’ll be posting a link to my review of each book. I also have two questions for the author, just to spice things up a little.

Hopefully, visitors to my blog will be able to increase their reading lists and also get ideas for their wish lists.

First things first. Thank you to everybody who participated during week one.

We have some winners! *drum roll*

Garden Of Lost Souls by Madeline Mora-Summonte. Read my review HERE.

Garden Of Lost Souls

Genre/Category: Horror/Flash Fiction.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: Hermione Granger (from the Harry Potter series.)

What would you name the autobiography of your life? Page Turner.

Givin’ Up The Ghost by Gwen Gardner. Read my review HERE.

Givin' Up The Ghost

Genre/Category: YA Cozy Paranormal.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: I’d love to have coffee with Franny. Not only has she led a, *ahem, cough* colorful life, but her afterlife is very full as well. Trust me, Franny has secrets!

What would you name the autobiography of your life? Never Givin’ Up The Ghost!

One lucky winner will receive an e-book of Garden Of Lost Souls through Kindle/Kindle App. The second lucky winner will receive an e-book of Givin’ Up The Ghost. Please leave an e-mail address after your comment by Thursday 14th April, if you wish to be entered in the giveaway. Winners will be announced on Friday 15th April.

Do you read or write horror/flash fiction? If you had the opportunity to provide a title for your autobiography, using funky and upbeat words, what would the title be? Which famous ‘colorful’ character would you like to have coffee with? Can you believe the first week of the A to Z challenge is over already?

Good Morning and thank you so much. This is the first time I’ve won something and I am tickled chocolate fudge!!! 🙂

Do I need to have a special code to download my prize? This really makes my day because this is one of the books that I have put on my TBR. I am really tickled chocolate fudge.

Horror is one of my top 3 fav genres, along with scifi and fantasy and I love a good horror short story. Nothing like a good spine tingler. My fav are ghost stories.
A week already – where has the time gone? 🙂

Congrats to all the winners! I’d love the signed paperback, if it’s not too much trouble to mail it.

I love both the authors featured today, but I’ll happily bow out of the competition as I’ve already won such a great prize!

  7. Rowena on April 8, 2016 at 11:55 am

Thanks so much for the E-book. I’ve never read an E-book before so this could be the beginning of my demise as a book collector but I doubt it. My email address is rowenanewton at outlook.com
    Best wishes,

  8. L. Diane Wolfe on April 8, 2016 at 11:56 am

    Congrats to the winners.

I’ve read Gwen’s three novellas. One of the perks of formatting!

Yay – so excited to have won Alex’s book! What a wonderful way to start off my Friday morning!

Yay! I prefer Amazon of Moonsongs since that’s on the list. Mobi is fine too because then I can import it to my library. So many wonderful tempting books!
Yep I read horror and flash fiction. I’m going a little bit crazy with the A-Z challenge. Still haven’t posted for today. I had them all pre-written but not scheduled. Saw your comment on my blog though and had to run over. Made my day. Okay, peace!

  12. Nilanjana Bose on April 8, 2016 at 12:17 pm

Great Gulping Gorgons!! 🙂 I am totally blown away, thank you!!!

Okay, I’ll say it less shrilly again. Thank you, Poet Dean K Miller and thank you, Michelle. I am beyond Glad and Grateful.

Congratulations to all the other winners here.

  13. betty on April 8, 2016 at 12:58 pm

Oh wow, I never win anything, so this was a pleasant surprise; more so because Nick’s book of stories was one I wanted to read sometime this year! Not sure how to claim my prize, but my email address is Lv2trnscrb@aol.com

I don’t read much horror if any. I read Salem’s Lot by Stephen King years ago and that kept me up too much at night 🙂

For my autobiography, I would probably entitle it “What a Joy Ride It has Been”.

    Congrats to all winners here!

And to answer your question, I’m not sure about the donkey rides if you have to book them that far in advance, but I would imagine it is possible, they probably don’t send a lot down on a daily basis and I bet it is popular for those who are adventurous!

    Thanks again!

    betty

  14. Alex J. Cavanaugh on April 8, 2016 at 1:11 pm

    Congratulations to Ellen!
I remember first reading about Gwen’s character during the Challenge years ago.

  15. Jessica on April 8, 2016 at 1:52 pm

Hi Michelle, Woke up to a win! Yay! I love winning books. I’m not familiar with Hart Johnson so went to read some Amazon blurbs and reviews, etc. I’ll take the ecopy of the whole set if that works for you. jessyferguson_95@kindle.com
Thanks so much! I’m excited to discover a new-to-me author!

  16. Alyssa on April 8, 2016 at 2:45 pm

I’m working on the horror aspect of my work. I’m not sure I’m good at it. These seem interesting. ^_^

  17. Yolanda Renee on April 8, 2016 at 2:48 pm

Congratulations to all the winners. I have most all of these, that’s why I didn’t enter, but we have a whole alphabet so anything can still happen. I love winning books.
I also enjoy writing horror shorts and flashes. Heck, I love writing in all genres. Don’t want to limit myself! LOL
Funky and upbeat, hmm, Un-Tethered – does that work?

  18. Kathleen Valentine on April 8, 2016 at 3:18 pm

I wrote a horror novella that sold like crazy. I couldn’t believe it. It’s called THE CRAZY OLD LADY IN THE ATTIC and I paid cash for my new car from that one novella. I’ve written sequels but nothing has sold like that one did.

And you have two great authors you are showcasing here today, no doubt. I have Madeline’s on my TBR and know it will be great. Loved Giving Up The Ghost!

  23. Ryan Carty on April 8, 2016 at 6:08 pm

Horror flash fiction? That intrigues me.

  24. Medeia Sharif on April 8, 2016 at 11:13 pm

I own Gwen’s book and the first one looks fabulous too. Congrats to all the winners.

  25. dSavannah on April 9, 2016 at 1:38 am

So bummed I didn’t win. Sniff, sniff.

    As to your questions:
    ~ no / yes, sometimes
~ My autobiography title will be “Normally Weird” (no one steal it!)
~ I would love to have had coffee with Joan Rivers
~ Yes and no. Feels like it’s been MONTHS! 😉

  26. LuAnn Braley on April 9, 2016 at 6:57 am

Do you read or write horror/flash fiction?
-I don’t seek out horror/flash fiction, but I don’t shy away from it either.

If you had the opportunity to provide a title for your autobiography, using funky and upbeat words, what would the title be?
-Putting One Foot in Front of the Other

Which famous ‘colorful’ character would you like to have coffee with?
-Volumnia, Coriolanus’ mother from Shakespeare’s play “Coriolanus”. She was one tough old broad.

Can you believe the first week of the A to Z challenge is over already?
Long answer: I don’t think I’ve ever made so many posts in one week before.
Not-that-much-shorter answer: It has ^flown^ by!

  27. Melissa Sugar on April 9, 2016 at 8:16 am

Congratulations to all the winners. Both reviews are fantastic. Yes, I read horror. The first week flew by and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve become fascinated with some blogs and I keep going back but I’m trying to stop by a couple of new ones as well. It’s just so hard. I mean, I would love to visit every blog but it’s impossible so I know there are some amazing blogs I’m missing but there’s only so many hours in the day. Here it is after 3 in the morning and I’m still up hopping from blog to blog. It’s addicting.

Let’s see for my autobiography: My Roots are Showing
And I would like to sit down with Sherlock Holmes.

Hi Michelle, congratulations to all my co-winners. We all are so lucky to have won such great books. I am looking forward to reading Effigy. And I like what you are doing, promoting the books of your writer friends/blog buddies and also reviewing their books. Hugs.

  29. J.H. Moncrieff on April 9, 2016 at 9:30 am

I didn’t realize we could win the books by commenting! Congrats to the winners.

I’d never written flash fiction of any kind before my publisher asked me to write a 100-word horror story for their newsletter. It was a lot of fun.

I didn’t know about Madeline’s book…she’s been holding out on me. I’ll definitely have to get a copy to support her. She’s awesome.

  30. M.J. Fifield on April 9, 2016 at 1:50 pm

Madeline’s cover is so pretty. I haven’t read this collection, but I love her work.

    Gwen’s book is great, too!

  31. C. Lee McKenzie on April 9, 2016 at 2:01 pm

Another group of good books! Congrats to all the winners. You’ve chosen such a great theme for writers and readers.
