H is for Hot Flashes & Cold Lemonade + How To Publish And Promote Your Book Now + Hurricane Crimes

H - 2016Welcome to the annual A to Z Challenge.

My theme: showcasing bloggers books, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections and some non-fiction books. The letters of the alphabet will correspond with the book title. I’ll be posting a link to my review of each book. I also have two questions for the author, just to spice things up a little.

Hopefully, visitors to my blog will be able to increase their reading lists and also get ideas for their wish lists.

Hot Flashes & Cold Lemonade by Susan Flett Swiderski. Read my review HERE.

Hot Flashes & Cold Lemonade

Genre/Category:  Hot Flashes is women’s lit. Or maybe it’s mainstream… or maybe it’s humor. Nah, it makes some people cry. We’d better stick with women’s lit. Or mainstream… or maybe it’s humor… Women’s lit! (Susan’s explanation)

The book character you want to have coffee with is: I do declare: Rhett Butler, but I can’t drink coffee, so I guess we’ll just have to sip wine or bourbon. (Oh, darn!)

What would you name the autobiography of your life? The Pathological Optimist.

How To Publish And Promote Your Book Now by L. Diane Wolfe. Read my review HERE.

How To Publish and Promote Your Book Now

Genre/Category: Non-fiction.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: Pippin from Lord of the Rings. It would probably be tea during second breakfast and I imagine we’d cause some trouble in the process.

What would you name the autobiography of your life? More Spunk than the Energizer Bunny!

Hurricane Crimes by Chrys Fey. Read my review HERE.

Hurricane CrimesGenre/Category: Romantic-suspense.

The book character you want to have coffee with is: Donovan Goldwyn because he’s fun, romantic and mysterious. He may be my character, but I’d love to pick his brain a bit. And a little flirting action wouldn’t hurt.

What would you name the autobiography of your life? No One In Particular. When I was a teen, I really felt as if I was no one in particular among my family and friends. I even used that as my nickname a few times, and added it to a work-in-progress.

One lucky winner will receive an e-book of Hot Flashes & Cold Lemonade. The second lucky winner will receive a copy of How To Publish And Promote Your Book Now (USA will have option of print or e-book, outside of that will be e-book only). The third lucky winner will receive an e-book of Hurricane Crimes (mobi, epub or pdf). Please leave an e-mail address after your comment by Thursday 14th April, if you wish to be entered in the giveaway. Winners will be announced on Friday 15th April.

Which celebrity would you like to sip coffee/wine/bourbon (or some other beverage?) with? If you are a writer, what’s your favorite book on writing craft? If you were asked to provide a title for your autobiography, based on strong teenage emotions/teenage perceptions you had as you were growing up, what would the title be? Would you like to win one of these books?

Thank you for including Hurricane Crimes!!! 🙂 I love the collection of H books you have here. Something for everyone. I need to check out L. Diane’s book for some more promo tips.

Writing the Paranormal Novel by Steven Harper is a great book to help with writing about (you guessed it) the paranormal.
    Interesting book titles 🙂
Good luck with the rest of the AtoZchallenge.

Damn, I have all three. LOL
Loved Hot Flashes, and Susan is one of my favorite people! So cool!
Chrys, she’s a sweet heart and her books and advice for writers priceless!

Teen angst, hmm . . . Run Girl, Run!
Bourbon with Rhett, sounds sexy! I’m there! Is three a crowd? 🙂

These books sound awesome! Book character to sip tea or bourbon with? Got nothing. My faves are much more fun to read about than meet in person. Especially police heroes/heroines like Jeffrey Deaver’s Lincoln Rhyme (Denzel played the part in the movie The Bone Collector). Very cool guy but not very social… Fave writing-tech book, Blake Snyder’s Save the Cat. Autobiography: Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Fire. I always leap before I look and have landed in a bunch of bizarre situations!

Great list, Michelle. Reminds me of the fact that despite genre restrictions, I would read anything good, not matter the genre. Title of autobiography based on teenage feelings? Love the question. I’d probably title it, Pull Me From The Edge.
Great post. Nice of you to showcase so much talent.

Had a good laugh when I saw the first title – Hot Flashes ;D

I am past hot flashes and have weathered more than my share of hurricanes. But book marketing is always useful!

I loved Hot Flashes and Cold Lemonade! Susan’s answers were a hoot, and I can’t say enough about what a wonderful person she is! Hurricane Crimes also sounds like an interesting read, and I could relate to the title of Chrys’ autobiography. Of course L. Diane’s book sounds like a must read for all writers. Michelle, you’ve come up with such an eclectic list for “H.” Hats off to you!

Thank you for featuring me, dear lady. I do appreciate it. I also appreciate the sweet things Yolanda and Julie had to say. (I didn’t even have to pay them!)

Have fun with the rest of the challenge!

Fun titles. My teen title would be Hopelessly Optimistic, Daydreamer. Ha!

I’m not sure I would want to have a drink with a celebrity. I think it would be far more interesting to have a drink with their housekeeper, chauffeur etc. and get the real scoop on what life is like working for someone so famous. I bet those stories would be far more interesting.

All of those books sound great, but as I already won one last week (yay!), I don’t think I should be greedy by putting my name in the hat again 🙂

    Cheers – Ellen

All three of these sound good! I agree with L. Diane, Pippin would be fun to have tea with 🙂 An autobiography according to my teenage self, I would call it “The Begrudged Mediator.” I was always stuck in the middle when my other two friends would argue with each other. I’m glad they finally grew out of that!

Hi Michelle – three great authors here … love the Hot Flashes and Cold Lemonade, as too Diane’s ‘How to Publish’ .. then Chrys’ Hurricane Crimes – a good mix of genres here … Who’d I like to have coffee with .. but I’d rather have a wine, not bourbon!, and linger chatting – David Attenborough: broadcaster and naturalist …

    Cheers Hilary

I would love to sit down to tea with Tom Hiddleston and just let him talk about Shakespeare 🙂

  23. Amy Morris-Jones on April 11, 2016 at 1:22 am

That title Hot Flashes and Cold Lemonade just cracked me up! I’d be tempted to read the book just for that reason alone. I guess that goes to show the importance of a title. Good choices for H!

  24. Stephen Tremp on April 11, 2016 at 3:58 am

I’ve read Dianne’s of Chrys Fey’s and Susan’s works. Best wishes to them for a smashing success!
