The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#28

For those who are here via the AtoZ challenge, you can find my B-post HERE

Welcome to the IWSG post. This is a place where writers can come together and express doubts/concerns and offer assistance/guidance… the ultimate writers' support structure. For more info go HERE.

The awesome co-hosts for today's posting of the IWSG are Hart Johnson, Chemist Ken, Candilynn Fite, Terri Rochenski, Clare Dugmore, and Lilica Blake!

Since my mind is in "A to Z mode", here's my A to Z of writerly insecurities…

(This is a repost from last year. I had NO time to prepare a post for today.)

      First Wed of Every Month

I'm an adequate, befuddled chancer, a dabbler who endeavours to fabricate stories with genuine heartfelt intentions… I have jumbled knowledge, but I'm learning, mastering (ha! hopefully) faced with never-ending obstacles. Pressure quickens the realisation that stories take time to unearth. I'm a vacillating wannabe who yearns to reach the zenith… (patience… breathe… patience… perseverance… breathe…) but I do have oodles of zing, zip and zest!(hope that counts…) smiley

Does this make me insecure? You bet! But who cares? I'm cool with it. coolIt doesn't really faze me anymore. winkIt is what it is. So what?

I hope that I can get around to visit a few IWSG'ers today… can't promise though… I'll try squeeze some in… probably get around to the hosts…

Love your A-Z of  of writerly insecurities … though I'd say with skills like that, you've got nothing to be insecure about! 😉

Good luck with the A-Z and your April writing endevours.

Thanks Clare. Ha! Don't be fooled by the fancy-shmancy words…  🙂

Don't let it faze you! There are worse fears out there.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 2, 2014 at 12:56 pm

      I'm trying… I'm trying… but sometimes that little voice just gets overpowering…

  3. SittieCates on April 2, 2014 at 11:52 am

Love it! Stay cool with it, Michelle. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 2, 2014 at 12:57 pm

Thanks Sittie! I'll stay cool, even if I don't always feel that way…

This should be on a fridge magnet, or a poster, or a rug. Or all three? Love the A2Z on insecurities – I have them all and yet, bleh! 🙂

Busy time, as you said, Michelle. Don't even have time for my insecurities right now. 🙂

    Have fun!

  6. Stina Lindenblatt on April 2, 2014 at 12:40 pm

befuddled. That's my word for today! 😀

    • Michelle Wallace on April 2, 2014 at 12:59 pm

I think there are lots of befuddled writers out there… 🙂

  7. EE Giorgi on April 2, 2014 at 1:28 pm

One can be "secure of his/her insecurities" and then they're not insecure anymore. 😀

I just joined the group, great meeting you all!

    • Michelle Wallace on April 2, 2014 at 3:07 pm

Welcome to the group! I like your explanation. It's like the right to feel insecure eventually cancels out that very insecurity!   🙂

  8. Michael Di Gesu on April 2, 2014 at 3:35 pm

    Hi, Michelle,

That says it all.. It was worth repeating! As long as we know our insecurites, we can deal with them…

Keep breathing… LOL the month is just starting! LOL.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:08 am

I can't wait for the next e-mail Michael! *nudge* *wink* 🙂

  9. joylene on April 2, 2014 at 4:03 pm

Awesome tribute to A-Z. And the fact you're cool with your insecurites makes me smile and say, "I'm kewl with mine too."

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:10 am

Joylene, as an award-winning author, I'm wondering… maybe your insecurities are not as intense…?

  10. Catherine Noble (@Catherine_Noble) on April 2, 2014 at 4:04 pm

    I'm with Shah on the Magnet/Poster/Rug idea. Perhaps even a T-Shirt 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:11 am

Her idea IS brilliant! 🙂 I'm following up on it…

I can picture the rug… OMG… that would be totally AWESOME!

  11. ChemistKen on April 2, 2014 at 4:52 pm

Embracing your insecurities is the best way to defeat them.  Thanks for the inspirational words and for all the work you've done for the IWSG.

  12. C. Lee McKenzie on April 2, 2014 at 6:50 pm

Heck I'm reposting everything from A to Z this year. Lazy? Creative? Pick one. Insecure? Of course.

  13. Diane Burton on April 2, 2014 at 6:53 pm

Cute post. Good luck with the A to Z Challenge.

  14. Melissa Maygrove on April 2, 2014 at 7:30 pm

I was doing mine last minute, too. And I'm not even doing AtoZ. 😛

IWSG #243, until Alex culls the list again.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:26 am

But you're busy with your debut novel… so that explains it… 🙂

  15. Lexa Cain on April 2, 2014 at 8:40 pm

You always make me laugh, Michelle. You have such a great sense of humor, and your posts are so funny (even if about serious things)! 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:27 am

Well, at least I'm good for something, hey? 🙂

  16. Jess on April 2, 2014 at 10:24 pm

As busy as you are, I'm so flattered that you came to visit ME! Love your list of words. Befuddled probably describes me. I feel that way most of the time. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:29 am

Oh Jess, the IWSG is about visiting and supporting each other… 🙂 Nobody has ever been flattered by my visit… so now I feel flattered!

  17. Elizabeth on April 2, 2014 at 11:23 pm

I love your use of the alphabet here. I need to remember your advice – it is what it is.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:31 am

Ha! I'm trying to be nonchalant about it in the hope that this will keep it at bay… it works for a while… 🙂

  18. Medeia Sharif on April 3, 2014 at 3:23 am

You summed up yours and other writers' insecurities very well alphabetically.

  19. Murees Dupé on April 3, 2014 at 7:10 am

I love your attitude. You have your insecurities and then say so what? I love that!

    • Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:35 am

Thanks Murees! I sweep insecurities under the rug and hide behind this nonchalant attitude, which seems to lessen the power of the insecurity. The dismissive attitude works for me… to a certain degree…  🙂

  20. Doreen McGettigan on April 3, 2014 at 10:25 am

    Awesome use of the alphabet!

  21. E.J. Wesley on April 3, 2014 at 3:09 pm

Loved your alphabetical insecure list! 🙂

  22. Jeri Burns on May 13, 2014 at 2:21 am

The alphabet list was a hoot! I've been buzzing around your blog, enjoying the stuff I see. We connected on storytellingmatters.wordpress.com – I'm doing a visit with you. Fun stuff! What is the ISWG like?
