Mr.Linky & The A to Z Theme…

Google Friend Connect disappeared… with my 117 peeps! Ah, well… we were given ample warning.

Anyway, I got my new tech-guy to add the Linky Follower Widget to my side bar. I'm not very clued-up with this widget. As it is, I was just getting used to GFC…

Over the next few weeks, my blog will be going under re-construction. My tech-guy is going to work his magic and hopefully it will be ready before the A-Z Challenge begins. In the interim, I will still be posting as per usual… unless Mr. Tech-Guy says otherwise…

I wanted some feedback on the following – in a blog post, do certain "fancy" fonts appear different on the computer screen compared to an iPad screen? I'm asking because a while back, a blogger questioned the clarity of a particular font I had used. I think it was Comic Sans. She mentioned that she was viewing it on an iPad, and for some reason, she couldn't see it clearly. Is it true that some bloggers get put off by certain fonts (may be too "busy"), and are less likely to visit the blog in question? Maybe because it triggers headaches/migraines? Or for other reasons?

Onto another topic, have you signed up for the A-Z Challenge? Have you done your prep? Or are you one of those who intends taking it as it comes…

I've decided that, since I love the 100-word challenge, and want to improve on my flash fiction writing, I'm going with 26 fiction posts. I will keep them as short as possible. After all, nobody wants to be stuck reading one blog, when there are hundreds of blogs to visit. I can't promise that all the posts will be 100-words exactly. Some may be shorter… or slightly longer…

I've also decided that my posts will revolve around something musical – it could be anything, as long as it's musically-related… maybe a song title, an artist/band, musical terminology, musical instruments, words relating to sound/rhythm/movement/dance etc. I'm a little apprehensive – some of it will turn out to be utter nonsense, I'm sure… but I want to challenge myself… to see what I come up with…

So have you decided on a theme yet?

I just pulled up your site on my iPad as well as here on my computer, and while the four posts I viewed all sported different fonts, they were all readable.
Glad you're ready for the Challenge!
And I have Linky Followers set up in my sidebar as well.

Okay, that makes me feel better knowing the font is readable…

I'm looking forward to your posts. I won't be playing this year due to getting my book out in the world. It takes a lot of energy.
Fonts: Some fonts are terrible to read. I usually stick with Times New Roman.

Congratulations Shelly! You've worked long and hard to get to this stage, so it's better to focus your energies on getting the book published. I wish you everything of the best! 🙂

I only read your blog on my pc so I have no problems. I've signed up for the A to Z but I keep changing my mind about my theme 🙂

Well, you only have a few weeks before the challenge begins… you'd better make a final decision! 🙂 Good luck!

I don't have a theme, per say, but I do like to concentrate on making my A-Z entries with writing terms, or things to do with writing. Occasionally I'll do a letter with a random topic. Maybe if I do it next year, I'll try doing a movie theme or something like that.  Lovely blog, Mish!

Thanks Sarah! Glad you popped in !

I have a theme and will post about it in March. I hope Lee and the team reach the numbers they want.
I too will do fiction. Some will be short and some long. Readers will have to decide whether they have time or not to read.
    More about that later….

Good luck Teresa. I suppose there will be a last minute rush to sign up, at the end of March, especially from those who are still undecided about whether or not they will attempt the A-Z challenge.   I'm looking forward to reading your fiction pieces during the challenge. 🙂

Oh didn't think about the poor peeps that get headaches at the comp, maybe I will tone down me blog a bit.  As for a theme I think I may have come up with one finally, but, it's a theme I suck at so not sure.  Will be good practice if I do 🙂

    • mish on March 5, 2012 at 5:42 pm

Going with a theme you "suck" at would be a great way to really challenge yourself… push your boundaries… if that's one of your goals… 🙂 Think about it.

I have four posts done so far for the challenge and will have most of them done before April. I do have a theme but can't spill the beans until April 1st or end of March:)
My heart goes out to you re: GFC 🙁 I have the same problem

    • mish on March 6, 2012 at 12:36 pm

Oooooh, I'm looking forward to the reveal of your undisclosed theme… sounds very exciting 🙂 I'll probably also have more than half of my posts ready by the end of March.

Some fonts are probably a turn-off, but so far most of my issues have been with contrast (say a pitch black background with glaring white text, though it doesn't always bother me, or some other brightly colored text or background).
I have gone through so many theme ideas that I think I'm covered for years to come!  Haha!  I think I've finally whittled it down, though, and I'm working on pre-scheduling at least some of my posts so I can focus on visiting.  Your theme sounds great!

Gosh, I hope that my fancy fonts aren't too much of a turn-off… I think I must stick to basic fonts…

Hi Mish! It's going to be a blast, isn't it? I still haven't settled on a theme, although I think I'm getting close. I thought of approaching this in a completely random way (A, hmm, how much do I have to say about applesauce?) but I have a feeling I might be more successful with some structure. Your idea of a musical theme is great — look forward to reading your posts!

Thanks for visiting Kern! Yes… it's going to be a rollercoaster ride… 🙂 Good luck with your search for some sort of structure!
