Oh How I Miss You, NaNo Mantra Contd & Whacky Words

Welcome to the Oh, How I Miss You Blogfest, hosted by Andrew Leon, Alex J. Cavanaugh, and Matthew MacNish.

The bloggers you miss and the ones you would miss.
List one to three bloggers you really miss.
List one to three bloggers you would really miss if they stopped blogging.
Now I’m supposed to name just three bloggers I’d really miss. Only three? Difficult!

I truly appreciate each and every blogger who stops by to read/leave a comment. Of course there are those who are extra special, but there are sooooo many… I just cannot pinpoint a few.

However, I’m going to list a few bloggers who I haven’t heard from in ages…

The Golden Eagle – she posts on writing, science, miscellany, books, movies, politics, and a wide range of other subjects.

Stories To Share – Rose is an animal lover, mom, registered nurse, wife, nature lover and environmentalist.

The Beveled Edge – Bev is an athlete and quite accomplished in martial arts.

Tara Tyler Talks – I tagged her recently so we’ve been in contact, but I DO miss her bubbly spirit!

The Art Of Infiltration – Kimberly’s a middle school teacher and tutor, and a mom to two boys.

Whatever happened to Stephanie who used to blog at Clay Baboons? Does anybody remember her wonderful clay figurines?

*                    *                    *                    *                    *

Thanks to all who played along the last three weeks, by adding to the NaNoWriMo mantra! It now goes something like this:

Break a pencil.

Shred a notebook.

Jam a keyboard. (Melissa Maygrove)

Empty a printer. (Elizabeth Seckman)

Fry a brain. (Robyn Campbell)

Edit the excess. (Sammy D)

Need more coffee! (Sherry Ellis)

Chuck a book. (Chrys Fey)

Corrupt a hard drive. (Nick Wilford)

Burn the eyes. (L.Diane Wolfe)

Stare down a blank page. (Celine Jean-Jean)

Surmount the word count. (Elise Falson)

Cultivate the characters. (Loni Townsend)

Rely on Red Bull. (Loni Townsend)

Don’t think. Just keep typing! (Stephanie Faris)

I have a plan for this mantra! Watch this space… 😆

*                    *                    *                    *                   *

It’s time for WHACKY WORDS! Remember, this is supposed to be FUN!

Thank you to everybody who played along for the previous word. The real meaning of the word Jussoli is – Jus soli, or right of the soil in Latin, is the legal rule that a child’s citizenship is determined by his or her place of birth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jus_soli

The definition that captured my attention was posted by Robyn Campbell: Jussoli makes me think we’re sitting in an outdoor Italian cafe. We’re drinking espresso, chatting and laughing. When we laugh, our heads go back and our scarves blow in the wind. Lipstick is red; we’re munching on jussoli pasta and whispering politely covering our mouths when we speak, checking our hair and makeup in our mirrors. (Of course, we MUST reapply the lipstick after every bite of pasta) What an image! 😎 Congratulations Robyn. Let’s make a date. I’ll meet you in Italy to dine on jussoli and drink espresso…just let me know when!

Today’s word is

                                              KAKIDROSIS

A condition that attacks the male species when they are together at a social gathering, testosterone in over-drive, each one trying to outdo the next one in the “story-telling” department!

That’s my definition. (The word does have a meaning, but you are invited to play along by providing your own original meaning. No cheating and looking up the word. I’ll post the meaning next week). So do you wanna play along? Leave your definition in the comment section below.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Michelle – i was just thinking today (and have the past few weeks) about bloggers I enjoyed reading and sharing comments with, and they’ve disappeared from the blogging world!! In a couple cases, I know why, but it leaves a terrible void in my heart and social fulfillment. No one is easily replaced because each voice and writing style are unique. I miss them all.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:18 pm

Absolutely. That’s why I left out the instruction to pinpoint only three bloggers I’d really miss if they were to stop blogging.

  2. Shannon Lawrence on November 24, 2014 at 7:44 am

I haven’t seen the Golden Eagle in awhile, either! Hmmm.

    Love the mantras!

Kakidrosis: A condition wherein an individual becomes obsessed with khaki and wears it constantly, to the point of an intervention being necessary. The Crocodile Hunter suffered from it.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:20 pm

So the condition would be prevalent amongst game wardens?

  3. Trisha on November 24, 2014 at 7:54 am

Gee, it has been a while since I saw an update from the Golden Eagle – you’re right!

Love those NaNo ‘affirmation’ type things. I can relate to most of them.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:22 pm

      You’re one of the NaNo veterans…am I right? What’s your record…about 10 NaNo’s?

  4. Hilary on November 24, 2014 at 10:00 am

Hi Michelle – yes Golden Eagle – I thought she came back briefly and then went away … I expect she’s studying hard. Tara’s been around – but I agree with you. The NaNo affirmations are fun …

Kakidrosis … an outburst of pustules … the definition!

Cheers and have a good week .. Hilary

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:24 pm

      I think she’s busy with studies…you’re right.
Pustules? Is it what I think it is? Okay, off to google just to confirm.

  5. Alex J. Cavanaugh on November 24, 2014 at 12:44 pm

I know all of those awesome bloggers you named! Fortunately, Tara posted just this morning. Thanks for participating in our blogfest.
Kakidrosis – a condition that results from too much exposure to the Kardashians.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:26 pm

      Hahahaha! Love your definition!
With the flood of Kardashian reality shows, kakidrosis should be reaching pandemic proportions…

  6. Dani B. on November 24, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Oh!! Yeah! These are some great bloggers to highlight!!

  7. L. Diane Wolfe on November 24, 2014 at 1:40 pm

    I remember Golden Eagle.

    Thanks for including my mantra.

  8. Matthew MacNish on November 24, 2014 at 2:06 pm

I remember Golden Eagle! I would miss her too.

  9. Robyn Campbell on November 24, 2014 at 2:10 pm

Hahaha Michelle, I WANT TO!!! That would be the absolute MOST remarkable time. We would have so much to gab about too. We’d write and share scenes and critique each other. WOW!!! Huh, hug, hug!!! Saving money as we speak. Passport is peeking out from the drawer it’s in.

I LOVE how you do the missing bloggers. You are the best. You make my heart smile, my friend.

Bahahahahahahaha. I just read Alex’s definition.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:31 pm

“We’d write and share scenes and critique each other.” Wouldn’t that be awesome?!
      One day…one day…it’s all about timing… 🙂
Off to check my passport (don’t know when last I used it… *sigh*)
      Alex’s definition is priceless!

  10. Robyn Campbell on November 24, 2014 at 2:12 pm

P.S. just to clarify. I know that was a blogfest. But I remember you doing this for me when I hadn’t been blogging. You are so real and so beautiful. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:32 pm

      Thank you! 😀
Now you’ve made my heart smile…

  11. Shelly on November 24, 2014 at 4:05 pm

I know I would definitely miss you. And yes, I miss Golden Eagle.

    Hugs and chocolate!

  12. Southpaw on November 24, 2014 at 5:13 pm

I miss those guy (gals) too. The Golden Eagle has popped back in recently, but only briefly.

  13. Margo Kelly on November 24, 2014 at 5:55 pm

Oh I recognize the bloggers you’ve listed. I hope they are all doing well with whatever ventures they’re pursuing!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:34 pm

I suppose that, for some people, blogging is seasonal. Life becomes demanding and something takes a back seat…

  14. Julie K Pick on November 24, 2014 at 7:50 pm

Great list of bloggers! I would really miss you, Michelle!

Kakidrosis – An obsession with wearing khaki pants for every occasion throughout the year.

  15. Andrew on November 24, 2014 at 10:16 pm

It has been a while since TGE posted anything but, then, she said it was going to be that way for a while.
Maybe she’ll come back to nest.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:37 pm

Yep. I did pop in to visit her…she’ll probably return when she’s ready.

  16. J.L. Campbell on November 24, 2014 at 10:24 pm

Ya know Kakidrosis would sound more to me like a symptom of what a bunch of drunken women would do over a good joke – cackle outrageously.

I do remember the clay baboons, but didn’t know she’d stopped blogging.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:39 pm

I can hear the drunken cackling creatures… LOL
I think she did mention that it was too much of a mission to create the clay figures for each post, and then break them up, and then reassemble for the next post…time consuming.

  17. Sherry Ellis on November 24, 2014 at 11:12 pm

I think Tara is back to blogging. She was just so busy promoting her new book.

  18. Patricia Lynne on November 25, 2014 at 2:02 am

There are some bloggers I do miss, but I am horrible at remembering names, and I cull my list of blogs that stop blogging so I can’t go find their blogs and stare longingly at it.

  19. krystal jane on November 25, 2014 at 4:33 am

Okay, your definition is hilarious. 🙂
I haven’t heard from Beverli in a while either!

KAKIDROSIS – the corrosion that happens to your teeth when your mouth is open for too long from laughing too much.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:43 pm

I’m wondering, is this ‘dental malfunction’ caused from the laughter or the exposure to all sorts of external elements?

  20. Medeia Sharif on November 25, 2014 at 5:00 am

That is an unusual word, and those are cool mantras.

    I also miss Golden Eagle.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:45 pm

Some of the words are tongue twisters. I can’t let those mantras go to waste…need to follow up with my plan for them.

  21. Rachna Chhabria on November 25, 2014 at 4:25 pm

Love the NaNo mantras. Keep writing is mine 🙂

    Loved Alex’s description of Kakidrosis

    Happy Thanksgiving, Michelle!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:46 pm

Yep. Keep writing. It’s as simple as that.
Good to see you here, Rachna. 🙂

  22. joylene on November 25, 2014 at 4:26 pm

Well, this explains what happened to me many years ago when my 5 boys were at various stages of their teens and used to watch wrestling in our living room with all their friends. KAKIDROSIS. Hmm. Explains a lot.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:47 pm

5 males and their friends? Goodness me! So you’ve been on the receiving end of this condition?
      It’s a wonder you’re still sane.

  23. Crystal Collier on November 25, 2014 at 4:43 pm

I was looking over you list of missed bloggers and nodding my head. Other than one of them, I’m right there with you. I suppose this is what happens when we spend so much time on the blogosphere, eh? We see so many friends disappear and new ones take their places.

    Unleashing the Dreamworld

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:49 pm

Yep. As I said, blogging is seasonal…life takes precedence and some bloggers drop out, to return later on…

  24. Beth on November 25, 2014 at 4:45 pm

I love your definition, ha! Okay at first glance, Kakidrosis makes me think of something one suffers from wearing too much Khaki (I see someone already said that but I’m going with it, too lol)

  25. Anna Simpson on November 25, 2014 at 6:53 pm

I’m not hazarding a guess this round. Good luck though 🙂

    Anna from Shout with Emaginette

  26. Stephanie Faris on November 25, 2014 at 8:10 pm

What great mantras. I love them all!

  27. Celine on November 26, 2014 at 12:58 am

Oh I have to echo everyone on the Khaki front: that word made me think of a disease that turns people into Kakhi wearing zombies.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:52 pm

Mmm, khaki-wearing zombies? You could be onto something here… 🙂

  28. tammy theriault on November 26, 2014 at 6:19 am

Love Golden Eagle and Tara!! Great dedication, Michelle. PS… you’re amazing 😀

  29. Lynda R Young on November 26, 2014 at 8:01 am

Ha, I love the mantra list! Even though I couldn’t do NaNo this year, I can still relate!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:54 pm

You’ve done it before? Wow. You’re brave. What was it like?

  30. Christine Rains on November 27, 2014 at 2:46 am

I miss The Golden Eagle too. And since Tara is my CP, I’d really miss her if she left the webs! The mantra list keeps growing. So awesome.

KAKIDROSIS – An addiction to eating cake while naked.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 27, 2014 at 6:55 pm

Tara’s your CP? That’s so cool! I’m sure you two have a great time exchanging manuscripts…she’s awesome!
      Lol to your definition!

  31. Jemi Fraser on November 28, 2014 at 9:43 pm

I know Golden Eagle & Tara from your list and they are both awesome people! Hope they’re doing well!

  32. Carol Kilgore on November 28, 2014 at 11:17 pm

KAKIDROSIS is odor your body gives off after wearing khaki trousers all day.

    • Michelle Wallace on December 2, 2014 at 3:12 pm

The game wardens wear khaki everyday…they probably suffer from this condition… 😀

  33. Oh how I Miss You, Gary! on November 29, 2014 at 12:33 am

    Hey Michelle!

Speak to me, please, I’m begging you! No, okay and seriously, I’m most familiar with the names you mentioned. All of them gosh, darn awesome and most deffo’ missed.

Hey, I miss your blog, Michelle. Shall you be posting soon? LOL

    Have a nice weekend,

    Gary 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on December 2, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Gary, I deffo’ missed you! Good to have you back! 🙂

  34. C. Lee McKenzie on December 1, 2014 at 7:26 pm

KAKIDROSIS: What you get if you wear kakhi pants that are too tight in the crotch. Really. I have personal experience and know whereof I speak.

Couldn’t join this hop because 1) I was gone (mentally and physically) 2) There are too many bloggers I’d miss, so my post would be miles long.

    I’m back. Miss me much?

    • Michelle Wallace on December 2, 2014 at 3:15 pm

Lee, I missed you – TERRIBLY! Welcome back! 🙂

  35. Nick Wilford on December 1, 2014 at 10:49 pm

There’s quite a few bloggers who have gone AWOL for various reasons. It’s a shame!

My meaning would also have to pertain to khaki. Kakidrosis means wearing so much khaki that you become convinced you’re in the army, you’ve got all the gear and drive a camouflaged jeep and everything. These people exist, I’ve seen them!

  36. Michelle Wallace on December 2, 2014 at 3:18 pm

I suppose they need a break…you get those who pop in from time to time…but some have gone AWOL for a long, long time.
…and I do believe that there are those folk who are convinced they’re in the army…I’ve seen them around too!!

  37. Kimberly Gabriel on December 7, 2014 at 11:12 pm

Took me long enough to make it over here! Thank you for this Michelle! I definitely miss the blogosphere lately – especially corresponding with many old writing friends like you. I hope you are well Michelle! Thank you so, so much for thinking of me!
