A QUICK UPDATE…

I'm popping in from my blogging break to say: I'm still around… haven't forgotten about you folks… seems that this break is longer than I intended… what more can I say… my writing has suffered… I've neglected my weekly writing challenges/prompts… between work and festivities (throw in family and friends) it's been really hectic… my life has been taken over… totally "not my own" !!!

Here in my little corner of the globe, it is extremely hot and humid this time of year as we move towards mid-summer. When we were kids, every New Year's day was spent on the beach. I remember my parents always saying that there was nothing better than a dip in the ocean to "wash away the bad luck of the previous year"… That was many, many, many years ago… those were the days… seems like another lifetime… *le sigh*… and to be quite frank, I don't know when last I dipped my toes in the ocean…

What about you? Any special plans for New Year's Day?

ON THAT NOTE… A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUT THERE IN THE BLOGOSPHERE!

SEE YOU IN THE NEW YEAR!!!

Hi Mish, saw you commented at Victoria's and "followed" you over here.  No, don't have any special plans.  Used to go to parties but now prefer to stay home and watch festivities on TV.  I wish you much peace and prosperity in the coming New Year!

      Hi Gayle

I think the stay-at-home party is the best New Year option… for me, anyway…

Hope you have a peaceful & blessed New Year with your loved ones. Thanks for the support during 2011. See you around in 2012!

Breaks are good for body and soul. Enjoy it, Mish and Happy 2012.

Thanks for your loyal support during 2011, Victoria! I am so grateful…

I hope you have a great 2012. See you in the New Year.

Hot and humid sounds divine right about now!  Wish I was there!!  Happy New Year, Mish!!!

    • mish on December 31, 2011 at 2:17 pm

Ah… thanks Nancy. And yes, it is 'out-of-this-world' divine! Although, I must confess, it would be nice to experience a "white Christmas"… which I don't think is on the cards in this part of the globe at this time of year…

Hope you have a wonderful New Year. I'm sure we will re-connect in the blogosphere in 2012. See you then…

Hi Mish, we've had a mild start of winter BUT on Christmas day we got snowed in. The temperature dropped drastically. A late winter which is very rare ðŸ˜‰  For New Year's Eve I'm not doing anything this year. I'm staying home. I'll cook just for us. I think that special enough 😉
Enjoy what remains of 2011 and I'll see you in 2012!
    Happy New Year!

    • mish on December 31, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Staying in sounds like the ideal way to spend a New Year… it's definitely special enough. With special ones around you, what more could you ask for, hey? 🙂

Have a blessed and special New Year, Claudia! See you in 2012!

Oh Mish, I love your new blog layout!! So cool! I don't have any memories of ringing in the new year when I was a child. My parents were exhausted by regular life so holidays put them over the edge. I'm doing things different as I raise my kids. We love holidays and tonight will be a party to remember. Wishing you a very special night, a happy new year,  and at least one toe in an ocean in 2012. :))

    • mish on December 31, 2011 at 2:22 pm

Thanks soooo much, Nicole! Have a blast as you and your family make it a night to remember as you usher in the New Year! See you in 2012!

I finally found you! I could never find your blog via your profile – glad you mentioned the Google Friend Connect over on Lee's blog! Happy New Year! I'm still on vacation, but hope to be around in a few days to read and check out your site more thoroughly 🙂

Ah Lisa, I'm so glad that we have finally connected properly! Enjoy the rest of your vacation. Have a awesome New Year. I look forward to reading more of your amazing writing. See you in 2012!

A bit of hot and humid would be very welcome about now. it's all rain and cold here, occasionally I dip my toe in a puddle and get my socks wet. Hope you have a nice break.

Thank you Mooderino. During my break, I did take time to try and visit some blogs… just couldn't resist…

Have a great New Year. I look forward to reading more of your inspiring posts in 2012!

Usually this time of year we are up to our knees in snow-but not now,  Our weather has been so strange.  Last night we had winds that were so strong I was actally scared! (It doesn't take much to scare me.)  🙂  For New Year's Eve we stay up as late as we can, but usually we don't make it all the way to midnight-we just can't stay awake that long!  I do like to mull over the year that is ending and contemplate the next-and maybe come up with a few blog post ideas:)
Enjoy youy blog break Mish-we all need and deserve that once in a while!
Have a wondeful New Year's, and all the best to you in 2011!

    • mish on December 31, 2011 at 3:38 pm

Thank you Valerie. I've also been doing some thinking about my blogging for 2012. Not very in-depth, just letting some ideas simmer…

I hope you and yours have a great New Year! See you in 2012!

Happy New Year to you, too!  I'm thinkin" – that lucky ol' Mish – as I go out to my wood pile to haul a good supply of wood for a roaring fire.
I feel really excited about 2012…I believe we're going to see some tremendous changes in the world.  But the most important ones are those that add fuel to our Love.  It 's up to each one of us…it's incredible how we roar over that truth…
Here's to the Love in your life, Mish.

    • mish on January 1, 2012 at 12:21 am

Thank you for the warm and inspiring words, Amy.  I loved this part "…the most important ones are those that add fuel to our love."

The new year always holds a promise of a fresh start… new beginnings… Hope you have a blessed & peaceful 2012!

I’m willing to bet the holidays get most of us! I know I haven’t gotten anything accomplished with all the running around and children home from school.

My New Year’s plans are to relax and do absolutely nothing of note. We had my nephew over, watched a movie, had popcorn and sparkling apple cider and the kids are tucked in now. Movies and relaxation. yay! Have a good one!

  12. mish on January 1, 2012 at 7:24 am

There should be an extra few days holidays for the mothers/home-makers after everybody else returns to school/work… LOL

    Have a great 2012, Shannon!

Happy New Year!  My holidays were great, except for that cold I got.
Now I'm busy trying to get off to a great start for the new year.  ðŸ™‚

    • mish on January 3, 2012 at 7:00 am

I also came down with a cold/sinus and am still trying to get rid of it! Have a great 2012. 🙂

    Happy New Year! 🙂

Hot and humid? It's freezing outside right now . . . though there isn't much snow, which is unusual for this area.

    • mish on January 3, 2012 at 11:00 pm

Happy New Year to you too! 🙂
      Care to trade? I wouldn’t mind a little snow for a change…

    Happy New Year Mish!
I totally understand. The holidays have a way of making us lag behind our writing schedules. I found it extremely hard to get back to work today! Anyway, take all the time you need. I'm guessing you still have some xmas decorations to maybe put away and such. 🙂

  18. Sharp Little Pencil on February 2, 2012 at 7:26 am

Hey, Mish.  So it's Groundhog Day already… but our New Year's growing up used to be celebrated with chicken barbecue just outside our garage, in the snow.  One year the fire dept. came because some neighbor thought our house was on fire!!
Glad to be back, peace, Amy  http://sharplittlepencil.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/back-and-bad-and-buddah/
