It’s time for WHACKY WORDS! Remember, this is supposed to be FUN!

Thank you to everybody who played along for the previous word. The real meaning of the word Bagasse is – the fibrous matter that remains after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract their juice. It is used as a biofuel and in the manufacture of pulp and building materials. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagasse

The definition that caught my attention was posted by – RHONDA ALBOM.  I enjoyed her “smart spelling switcheroo”… and techno-lingo! Congrats Rhonda! I’ll contact you shortly.

Today’s word is:

                           DASHPOT

This is an idiot who is always on the move… dashing from one place to the next in total confusion…

An image of man caught flu and sneeze - stock vector

That’s my definition. (The word does have a meaning, but you are invited to play along by providing your own original meaning. No cheating and looking up the word. I’ll post the meaning next week). So do you wanna play along? Leave your definition in the comment section below.

Chrys Fey is a lover of rock music
just like Dani Hart in 30 Seconds. Whenever she’s writing at her desk,
headphones are always emitting the sounds of her musical muses -especially that
of her favorite band, 30 Seconds to Mars, the inspiration behind the title.

30 Seconds is her second eBook with
The Wild Rose Press. Her debut, Hurricane Crimes, is also available on Amazon.

Discover her writing tips on her blog, and connect with her on Facebook. She loves to get to know her readers!

Bonus
– Chrys Fey reveals 3 things about herself and 30 Seconds:

1.
Dani Hart was in a horrible car crash when she was a teen. Chrys Fey doesn’t drive because she’s afraid of being in a
car accident.
2.
Dani loves to run. Chrys hates running, but she did run track in Elementary school.
3.
Dani performs surgeries and Chrys has had three surgeries, including spinal surgery                                                                                    *                    *                    *                    *

    Congratulations, Chrys!
When a recipe calls for just a dash, you reach for the dashpot.

    • Michelle Wallace on September 16, 2014 at 6:09 pm

Sounds like a mystery container…filled with all sorts of things to choose from, that could add spice to the meal…?

  2. Chrys Fey on September 15, 2014 at 4:47 pm

Thank you for having me on your blog today, Michelle!

I can’t think of a definition for dashpot. Darn it! 😛

    • Michelle Wallace on September 16, 2014 at 6:11 pm

It was a pleasure having you here, Chrys! 🙂
Good luck with the book – it sounds exciting!
Can’t think of a definition? That’s okay. You can swing by another day, to join in the fun…

  3. Nick Wilford on September 15, 2014 at 7:24 pm

Congrats to both Chrys and Rhonda!

My definition is similar to Alex’s. I think a dashpot is like a pepper mill, maybe the big ones a waiter brings over in a restaurant and asks if you want any on your pizza.

    • Chrys Fey on September 15, 2014 at 9:55 pm

      Thank you, Nick! 🙂

      • Michelle Wallace on September 16, 2014 at 6:13 pm

        Great definition, Nick!
Now I’m thinking of pizza with freshly-ground pepper sprinkled all over….mmm.

  4. Jemi Fraser on September 15, 2014 at 8:43 pm

Yay for Chris & her book – sounds awesome!
Dashpot – From German pirates, it’s a translation for X marks the spot 🙂

    • Chrys Fey on September 15, 2014 at 9:56 pm

Thank you, Jemi! And your definition of dashpot is unique. 🙂

      • Michelle Wallace on September 16, 2014 at 6:16 pm

Now I’m thinking that the X-factor could also be known as the dashpot-determinant. 🙂

  5. Michael Di Gesu on September 15, 2014 at 9:13 pm

    Congrats Chrys!

All the best with your book!

I’m going on a different route here… Dashpot…. Adding a dash of this or that into a pot to create an awesome meal…

    • Chrys Fey on September 15, 2014 at 9:56 pm

      Thank you so much, Michael!!

      • Michelle Wallace on September 16, 2014 at 6:18 pm

A little bit of this…a little bit of that and voila! – dinner is served! 🙂

      Thank you, Medeia! 🙂

      • Michelle Wallace on September 16, 2014 at 6:21 pm

  8. Hilary on September 16, 2014 at 6:35 am

Hi Michelle .. good luck to Chrys with her book – it does sound interesting ..

Dashpot … I’d go with food .. whatever’s in the fridge goes into the dashpot .. for a quick supper, before dashing out for a meeting …

    Cheers HIlary

    • Chrys Fey on September 16, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Thanks, Hilary! I’m hungry right now, so I might make a dashpot. 😉

  9. Carol Kilgore on September 16, 2014 at 6:58 pm

I’ve seen Chrys’s story around – it looks good!

Dashpot: The small pottery bowl on my desk that’s filled with dashes–for when I run out of things to say———-.

    • Chrys Fey on September 16, 2014 at 9:18 pm

Yes, I’m slowly making the rounds. 🙂

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 9:01 am

  10. Rekha Seshadri on September 16, 2014 at 8:07 pm

Congrats, Chrys. The book falls into the enchantingly interesting category.

Dashpot – a box of ashes based on different cigar brands and traded with bitcoins.

I read your cancer story for the bloghop/anthology; it was refreshingly positive. I wanted to join in, but the wounds were too fresh for me as we were the ones left gobsmacked by the globs.

I will be posting on my blog sometime this week. Will ping you. 🙂

    • Chrys Fey on September 16, 2014 at 9:19 pm

Enchantingly interesting? I love that! Thanks, Rekha! 😀

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 9:03 am

        Hey Rekha, I understand. 🙂
I have to confess that, until a few weeks ago, I’d never heard the term bitcoins. Interesting definition.

  11. Christine Rains on September 16, 2014 at 10:46 pm

Yay for Chrys! Her book sounds awesome.

Hmm, Dashpot. An annoying stain on the dashboard of your car that won’t come out.

    • Chrys Fey on September 17, 2014 at 5:56 pm

      Thank you, Christine! 😀

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:39 pm

A spot on the dashboard that drives you dotty? LOL

  12. C. Lee McKenzie on September 16, 2014 at 11:40 pm

  13. Crystal Collier on September 17, 2014 at 4:16 pm

Wahoo, Chrys! I love it. Can’t wait to read it…once the family is out of town, and I’ve survived a book release. 3 surgeries? Really? You deserve medal or something.

    • Chrys Fey on September 17, 2014 at 5:58 pm

Thank you, Crystal! I can’t wait for Soulless to come out!…Yes, three surgeries. The most serious one was spine surgery. I hope you enjoy 30 Seconds! 🙂

  15. Mary on September 17, 2014 at 5:11 pm

    Congrats to Chrys!

Dashpot – the place from which cats get their craziness… when they run around the house like possessed things.

    • Chrys Fey on September 17, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Thanks, Mary! My cats were acting like that this morning. 😛

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:44 pm

There are lots of types of ‘animal’ dashpots… so would that be a catpot dashpot?

  16. Southpaw on September 17, 2014 at 6:03 pm

A dashpot it the cauldron writer’s store there unused punctuation marks (for later used!!)

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:48 pm

Sounds like a handy container for a writer, wouldn’t you agree? Running short of punctuation marks? Just peek in the dashpot and select one… 🙂

  17. Damyanti on September 18, 2014 at 12:36 am

Congratulations to Chrys– great to see her book splashed all over blogosphere!

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:51 pm

Okay, should I give you the title of Ms. Dashpot?

  18. Suze on September 18, 2014 at 3:48 am

Mmm, a dashpot is a measurement of spice?

    • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:53 pm

I’m imagining an ultra modern type of mini measuring utensil? Whatdya think?

  19. SittieCates on September 18, 2014 at 5:19 am

I didn’t know Chrys likes rock music. I do, too. 🙂

By the way, Michelle, I tagged for The Seven Deadly Sins Tag. Hope it’s OK. It’s over at my second blog, SittieCates Loves Stories at http://sittiecateslovestories.blogspot.com/

    • Chrys Fey on September 18, 2014 at 3:41 pm

I LOVE rock music!!! Rock on, Sittie! 😀

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:54 pm

Thank you for the tag, Sittie! 🙂
I’ll pop over and check it out!

  20. Shannon Lawrence on September 18, 2014 at 7:16 am

Let’s see, a dashpot. It’s a tool for writers who are dash happy. Click the button and the dashes disappear from their manuscripts, automatically replaced by a better word or set of words.

    • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:56 pm

Mmm. You could be sitting on a gold mine with this container.

  21. Gisele LeBlanc on September 18, 2014 at 12:40 pm

    Hi, Michelle and Chrys!

Chrys, I don’t drive either. I’ve had my beginners since forever, and went once for the road test, flunked, rescheduled, and the day I was supposed to go there was a big snowstorm–felt like the Universe was telling me not to go. I’ve never found the courage to try again. I think I’d just be way too nervous of a driver anyway… 🙁

Anyhow, congrats on the book–it sounds intriguing! Great cover, too! 🙂

    • Chrys Fey on September 18, 2014 at 3:44 pm

Thank you so much for commenting, Gisele! I knew there were other people out there like me. I had my permit until it expired and then I just got my State ID because I knew I wouldn’t get over my fear.

      Thank you!

  22. L. Diane Wolfe on September 18, 2014 at 1:50 pm

Spinal surgery – ick! Congrats on the book, Chrys.

    • Chrys Fey on September 18, 2014 at 3:44 pm

Yup. Not fun at all! Thank you, L. Diane!

  23. S. Katherine Anthony on September 18, 2014 at 1:54 pm

    I’m so excited for Chrys!

Dashpot- A dazed, confused, and easily amused SK. (Yes, that’s the best I got. lol)

    • Chrys Fey on September 18, 2014 at 3:44 pm

It’s neat to know others are excited, too. Thanks, SK! 😀

      • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 12:58 pm

SK, I love your neat definition…plus it rhymes! I think you’ve earned the title of Ms. Dashpot! 🙂

  24. Sherry Ellis on September 18, 2014 at 5:58 pm

I like your definition of dashpot. I think it resembles me. ;0)

    • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 1:00 pm

LOL. Lots of writers are claiming the title. Sounds like a Literary Dashpot Support Group is needed… 🙂

  25. Elizabeth Seckman on September 18, 2014 at 7:35 pm

It’s a blow up toilet you can can use on the go, to well go. OCD delight!

    • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 1:01 pm

Quite a “potty” invention. But definitely useful. LOL

  26. joylene on September 19, 2014 at 2:43 pm

    Yay, Chrys!!!

  27. Mina B. on September 19, 2014 at 2:46 pm

  28. Quanie Miller on September 19, 2014 at 7:34 pm

Congrats again, Chrys! And dashpot: the secret stash of money a cheating wife keeps so she can get out of town when her husband finds out about her affair….

    • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 1:06 pm

      Smart woman!
She’s got the stash – so I’d call it a dash with panache! 🙂

  29. Stephanie Faris on September 22, 2014 at 3:53 pm

Dashpot. I thought it was a nicer way of saying dipsh*t. It kind of is!

    • Michelle Wallace on September 22, 2014 at 6:08 pm

LOL Stephanie! That’s a good one…almost like a gentler way of saying it…
