U-Day is upon us! Are you up-to-date? Then utter uncontrollable ululations with urgency and uplifted spirits because only five units remain in this ultimate universal blogging challenge. This unique and unending journey is unravelling quickly. This is an unavoidable fact for all participants, whether unconcerned, uncertain or unruffled…

The PinYin A to Z Project

Yóu xì bî mò fãn yì fei huà……..

— is an old Chinese philosophy which refers to somebody who has the innate ability to decipher unusual words.

JUST JOKING.

(you can read the details about this challenge and the competition running throughout the month of April)

The word for Day 21 is—

                                                UCALEGON

This is a new TV quiz game series, that involves the entire family. It runs over a few weeks. Four families are in competition against one another. It begins with grandparents, then parents, then grandchildren. Each generation, beginning with the elderly, have to answer a specific set of questions. If they answer correctly, then the next generation have their turn. And so it continues. The first family to score a certain number of points, qualifies for the ultimate prize, a family getaway to a luxury resort.

So that's my definition. What's yours? Post it in the comment box below. Remember you stand to win a prize.

I like your definition. I would watch it – I'm a sucker for game shows! My first thought was some kind of Lego convention.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:40 am

I would love to attend a Lego convention. Maybe a Lego for adults?

What unicorns use to take them away instead of Calgon.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:43 am

Unicorn de-stressing bath products? (I'll admit that I had to google this one…)

  3. Shelly on April 24, 2013 at 11:22 pm

    So interesting….UMMMMMMM……

    Hugs and chocolate for Michelle?

      Hey, that's a unique brand… 🙂 thanks Shelly.

Drawing a blank. A prison on Uranus?

  6. Emily R. King on April 25, 2013 at 12:19 am

    Wow. I'm thinking it's a sort of lightbulb. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:49 am

A futuristic eco-friendly non-electrical light bulb. Solar powered or something like that…? Nice to see you here Emily! 🙂

  7. Kimberly Gabriel on April 25, 2013 at 1:58 am

I like Emily's definition….I could easily be convinced of that 😉

This is actually a near-phonetic translation of a statement. The drone stands at the doorway, points and says, "You Cal be gone!"

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:56 am

Bingo! C.Lee, you are soooo good at these. Your super-sleuth linguistic strategies are really kicking in.

  9. Medeia Sharif on April 25, 2013 at 5:59 am

It sounds futuristic and my mind is coming up blank.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:57 am

It's definitely futuristic. My mind also went blank and I kinda struggled with this one.

I like your definition – that would be fun! Love that you used the word ululations – I've always loved that word 🙂

Ucalegon is an undiscovered planet. Of cource I know about it because I dream of it often. The inhabitants are highly intellengent and have a gentle spirit. Not wishing to be discovered as they are rich in so many resources, these honest and hard working creatures go about their days in peaceful bliss. Earthinlings sadly would want to destroy this lovely planet for greed and selfishness. Not all but many.

  13. Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 1:48 pm

I love the "honest and hardworking" part of it. I wish more humans would embrace the concept of good, solid hard work. It doesn't kill. I do love the sound of your planet Ucalegon. After you've published your romance stories, perhaps you'll write the Ucalegonian story one day… 🙂

    • Michael Di Gesu on April 26, 2013 at 7:23 pm

      Hi, Michelle,

Curious… What made you think I wrote romance. I actually write m/g and y/a fantasy and y/a  edgy contemporary…. traditional romance is really not my thing although I do have romantic elements in some of my stories.

Oops, I forgot to come back over here yesterday. My brain is so fried – LOL.

Ucalegon is a geometric shape – an irregular spheroid bisected at intervals by random gaps of triangles.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:09 pm

Could you perhaps draw an example of this shape? 🙂

  15. Gina on April 25, 2013 at 5:38 pm

    I really like your definition!

  16. Julie Flanders on April 25, 2013 at 6:25 pm

This actually sounds like a fun idea for a game show! 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:11 pm

It's a wonder some hotshot game designer hasn't latched onto it yet… 🙂

  17. Sherry Ellis on April 25, 2013 at 6:41 pm

Ucalegon is the feeling of utter tranquility you experience after soaking in a tub of Calgon.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 7:12 pm

Just what I need right now. My brain is "super-fried"! 🙂

  18. J.L. Campbell on April 25, 2013 at 7:58 pm

I like Carol's definition and don't have one of my own. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 25, 2013 at 9:24 pm

I understand. My brain is already  in "shut-down mode" LOL.

I've seen that game or something very similar on RAI TV, the Italian TV station. I'd seen it a few times when Comcast gave 1 month free preview of a paid station. Very good show.

Long ago (this meaning is now lost and I should use it for a Save-a-Word Saturday post), ucalegon was a very delibitating skin disease that formed on every exposed skin area. It was quite disgusting, where the skin gets covered in gooey pustules, then dried into hardened scale-like flakes that shift, causing unbareable, deep penetrating itching and misery. Unfortunately, when you scratched it, that would cause the ailment to spread to uncovered skin areas, which would then put you out of your misery, since most committed suicide.

My skin itches just remembering learning about that, and I don't think I can go through this trauma again for the S-a-W blog hop. Thanks for bringing it up again! ;(

Maybe you could combine Nick's and Alex's ideas to make floating Legos in the bathtub!
