W is for We All Should Know…

Welcome to your daily dose of inspiration:
In Darkness Be Light.

Since social media and news in recent times has been filled with so much hate and negativity, these simple reminders aim at promoting positivity and lightening up your day.

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.   Maya Angelou

Would you like to be a part of spreading positivity? Check out the We Are The World Blogfest, which aims at promoting positive news. Here’s the shortened version:

  • Keep your post to below 500 words, as much as possible.
  • All we ask is you link to a human news story on your blog on the last Friday of each month, one that shows love, humanity, and brotherhood. Something like this news, about a man who only fosters terminally ill children.
  • Join us on the last Friday of each month in sharing news.

Diversity exists. Everywhere. It is a fact of life and makes life interesting. “Variety is the spice of life.” If every house on the block looked the same, if every restaurant served the same food, if everyone talked at us for hours in a monotone about things we already knew — well, then life just wouldn’t have much aliveness, would it?

Diversity…who better than an Indian would know what is diversity and how essential it is for the society to thrive and grow!
But time now has really come to awaken all to this thought that every thread of diversity is of equal value and importance. Pull one out and the whole fabric is rendered worthless!

Love Maya Angelou’s poems and love her quotes as well. She was one wise lady and brilliant poet. Diversity is what makes this planet so beautiful.

Unfortunately, some people seem to be afraid of diversity. But you’re totally right, it is what makes life interesting. Love this post.

As a writer, and, I know I’d shrivel up and die if diversity didn’t exist.

This is so true! Imagine if everyone told the same story…how boring books would be. I love the diversity in humans and the stories they share. ~ fellow #WATWB member

It was a very odd, frustrating experience when I went to a high school (my second of three) where there was almost no diversity. It was a small town, with maybe ten African-Americans in the high school (some of them related to one another), and no non-Christians at all. I didn’t NEED to be at a school or in a city as diverse and multi-racial as the one I’d left behind, but people tend to be more accepting of differences, open-minded, and culturally literate when they’ve grown up mixing with all types of people.

It is never too late to enjoy the experience of diversity. I grew up in a town that measured diversity in infinitesimal shades of different. Now I live in a ethnically diverse city. Diversity offers strength in new ideas, unique perspectives on existing practices, and variety which is unarguably a nurturing spice of life.

Hi all and Michelle – I’m going to be late posting this year … but my X post covers a great deal. Diversity, helping others of the ‘all sorts variety’ … being calm, clear and patient with all we do …

I love the We Are the World Blogfest and perhaps will post anon – if not – next time … cheers to you all … Hilary
