Diversity exists. Everywhere. It is a fact of life and makes life interesting. “Variety is the spice of life.” If every house on the block looked the same, if every restaurant served the same food, if everyone talked at us for hours in a monotone about things we already knew — well, then life just wouldn’t have much aliveness, would it?
Diversity…who better than an Indian would know what is diversity and how essential it is for the society to thrive and grow!
But time now has really come to awaken all to this thought that every thread of diversity is of equal value and importance. Pull one out and the whole fabric is rendered worthless!

It was a very odd, frustrating experience when I went to a high school (my second of three) where there was almost no diversity. It was a small town, with maybe ten African-Americans in the high school (some of them related to one another), and no non-Christians at all. I didn’t NEED to be at a school or in a city as diverse and multi-racial as the one I’d left behind, but people tend to be more accepting of differences, open-minded, and culturally literate when they’ve grown up mixing with all types of people.
It is never too late to enjoy the experience of diversity. I grew up in a town that measured diversity in infinitesimal shades of different. Now I live in a ethnically diverse city. Diversity offers strength in new ideas, unique perspectives on existing practices, and variety which is unarguably a nurturing spice of life.
