X is for XENOTIME

X marks the spot… that's all I can say. I have xero fancy words for this post… sorry…

The PinYin A to Z Project

Yóu xì bî mò fãn yì fei huà……..

— is an old Chinese philosophy which refers to somebody who has the innate ability to decipher unusual words.

JUST JOKING.

(you can read the details about this challenge and the competition running throughout the month of April)

The word for Day 24 is—

                                                XENOTIME

It's the measurement of time using natural events that indicate significant environmental changes, e.g. seasonal winds, flowering of trees and plants and migratory habits of animals and birds.

So that's my definition. What's yours? Post it in the comment box below. Remember you stand to win a prize.

When it's time to watch Xena!

    Well, close.

Xenotime is the strange phenomenon of time clunking along Monday-Friday and then zooming past on Saturday and Sunday.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 29, 2013 at 9:46 pm

Aha! I think you may be right! Time does seem to flash by on the weekends…

  3. Julie Flanders on April 27, 2013 at 6:46 pm

Haha, I love Carol's definition. Damn that xenotime anyway. 😀

Xenotime is when you give up your world to a foreigner. Not just letting them stay in your house, but you actually deed it to them, your kids becomes theirs, your job, husband/wife, and all your belongings. Then you go off on your own to explore a new world.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 29, 2013 at 9:50 pm

You'd have to be very brave or very stupid to succumb to the pressure of xenotime. 🙂

It's how Tattoo from Fantasy Island says there's no time.

I'm really showing my age with that reference, aren't I?

    • Michelle Wallace on April 29, 2013 at 9:55 pm

For me, XENOTIME is the actual second you put the FINAL touch on your WIP… When you glance over the word THE END on your FINAL edit…. It's XENOTIME… Grap a cocktail, kick your feet up and give yourself a HUGE PAT ON THE BACK…

    • Michelle Wallace on April 29, 2013 at 10:20 pm

It's xenotime! Grab a xeno-cocktail and let's party to the sound of the xeno-meano vibe!

My brain doesn't work well enough to come up with a good answer 😛

    • Michelle Wallace on April 29, 2013 at 10:23 pm

It's the end of the challenge. Totally understandable!

  9. Sia McKye on April 28, 2013 at 4:17 am

When I first read the title I thought it said xenatime, lol! I loved Xena.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 29, 2013 at 10:25 pm

The A to Z isn't always the easiest challenge but you've done well, my friend.

    Hugs and chocolate,

  13. melanie schulz on April 28, 2013 at 4:09 pm

I was wondering what you'd come up with for X!

  14. Sydney Aaliyah Michelle on April 28, 2013 at 6:50 pm

Chinese language has all sorts of good x words. Xie Xie Only two more letters go to.  Yeah.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 30, 2013 at 6:44 am

I forgot about the Chinese words….. only two more – thank goodness!

  15. Lexa Cain on April 28, 2013 at 10:19 pm

MC Hammer is making a comeback. His new song is called, "It's Xeno time!"

  16. C. Lee McKenzie on April 29, 2013 at 3:23 pm

This is a patois. Xenotime, when spoken in other parts of the country, sounds like, "Ain't (There's) no time." You can finish that sentence with things like: to do anything, like the present, period.

It's a very handy phrase really. Not a word at all.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 30, 2013 at 6:48 am

… only 2 more posts…. thank goodness for xenotime!

  17. Medeia Sharif on April 30, 2013 at 2:26 am

I agree with Carol's definition. I know it happens for me and it needs a name.

  18. Julie on May 1, 2013 at 5:34 am

I also like Carol's definition! She knows things from all that time in the Tiki Hut.

    • Michelle Wallace on May 1, 2013 at 7:33 am

Carol is a star! She's done an amazing job with the definitions.
