Z is for The Zebra Affaire

Z - 2016Welcome to the annual A to Z Challenge.

My theme: showcasing bloggers books, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections and some non-fiction books. The letters of the alphabet will correspond with the book title. I’ll be posting a link to my review of each book. I also have two questions for the author, just to spice things up a little (no questions for this post).

Hopefully, visitors to my blog will be able to increase their reading lists and also get ideas for their wish lists.

The Zebra Affaire by Mark Fine

Zebra Affaire An Apartheid Love StoryGenre/Category: romance/suspense/historical non-fiction.

Published on Nov 6, 2015

IT’S THE SPRING OF ‘76. For Elsa, her affair with Stanwell may well prove lethal, as she’s white and he’s black, and they dared to fall in love in apartheid South Africa. The terrified lovers are the prey in a deadly manhunt from the golden city of Johannesburg to the exotic but dangerous wilds of the African bushveld. ‘The Zebra Affaire’ is a thrilling fusion of romance and suspense—laced with rich South African history. The tension is palpable as the persecuted couple race against time and bigotry. Reviewers rave about this intimate, yet dangerous love story.

That story sounds amazing. Suspense, romance, and learning more about S.A. I’m in. Thanks for the the book, although I still haven’t connected with the author of Hot Flashes and Cold Lemonade. Ask her to double check the email address she’s using.
    Thanks.
    Congrats on completing the challenge!

    Hey Michelle!

Is that it? Is it over? Does this mean I can come out hiding?

    Enough about ME!

I’d like an Affaire with a Zebra! Take of its black and white pyjamas and away I go 🙂 Well done on featuring authors.

Time to reflect on the alphabet. Cannot believe I said that.

All the best and have a rest….

    Gary 🙂

Oh my gosh, I loved that title eve before reading the charged meaning behind it. Sounds like a fascinating story.

  26. Mark Fine on May 20, 2016 at 3:41 am

    Michelle,
I’ve never been happier to name my book “The Zebra Affaire” than when I read your Z is for The Zebra Affaire post. The funny thing is the pronounciation of the word Zebra; in the rest of the English speaking world the letter “Z” is pronounced ZED (rather than the customary ZEE in the United States). So, as I wrote my novel over the course of three years it was always The Z-eh-BRA Affaire…but, when published it transformed into The ZEEEBra Affaire. Needless to say, BOTH ways please me immensely 🙂

Keeping with this duality I also have ZEBRA published with TWO DIFFERENT COVERS (the interior is identical). I’m curious which cover (the blue one with the prancing zebras or the yellow one with the grasped hands) you and your readers prefer. If I may, I’d value your opinion. Here are the links for this informal aesthetic research effort:

The Zebra Affaire (blue cover) http://www.amazon.com/Zebra-Affaire-Mark-Fine/dp/1494762609

    Thank you!
