The Coffee Hop…

Today it's coffee-hopping time… courtesy of Michael Di Gesu… ain't this badge gorgeous??? So welcome, kick off your shoes… make yourself comfy… put your feet up… and let's celebrate – COFFEE!

For more info… hop over to Michael's blog HERE.

I didn't know what to post for this hop, and then an idea popped into my mind. *light-bulb moment*

So here's my contribution, based on the poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

HOW DO I LOVE THEE?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I love thee according to the taste, smell and intensity

My soul longs for, when you are out of sight

And the withdrawal symptoms manifest themselves.

I love thee to the level of euphoria that you induce

When I sip upon your wondrous delights.

I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;

I love thee purely, as pure as a Colombian coffee bean;

I love thee with a passion, the same one that unites over 500 000 Colombian coffee growers who claim the coffee bean as their national identity

I love thee with the enthusiasm a barista displays when brewing up a perfect cup of espresso! — and, if I had my way,

I shall but love thee better after death!

Best of luck with your own bloghop. Pop by my blog when it is close and remind me all right?  I am a hot tea man myself.

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:13 pm

Enjoy! And do tell us more about your "special coffee room"…

  7. Michael Di Gesu on January 17, 2014 at 7:39 pm

    Hi, Michelle…

SO glad you LOVE the badge… This is one of the first one's I ever made. Had to take a picture of my PERSONAL Capuccino maker, home baked biscotti (yes, I actually baked them), in my wonderful kitchen.

This is the second Browning spinoff I read today, but sooo, sooo good! LOVED IT!

Thanks so much for hopping along with us!

Yay for your hop next month. Must check out the details!

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:15 pm

Hey Michael, I LOVE the personal Capuccino maker… tooooo cool…. 🙂 And the badge too…

  8. Susan Gourley on January 17, 2014 at 7:47 pm

A lovely tribute to the most beloved bean of all.

  9. S. Katherine Anthony on January 17, 2014 at 9:54 pm

LOVE it. I love coffee, I love this, I love it all.

I think I made my stand on this clear, so I'll just hop off now…

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:16 pm

Thanks Katherine… I can feel the love… *hugs*

I like coffee I like tea. But coffee tops the list. It's the taste for me, but also the smell. The first cup is the best. Nice poem to honor the lovely coffee.

  11. Nicki Elson on January 17, 2014 at 11:12 pm

Ah, beautiful. Such a lovely ode to the bean. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:18 pm

I did think about calling it Ode To Coffee… 🙂

  12. Gary on January 18, 2014 at 12:11 am

    Hi Michelle,

After reading your poem I realise what a real eye opener it is.  Yes, a cafffeine-fueled frenzy shall ensue by me 🙂

Yes, a marvellous blog badge.  However, one moment please….blog hops, blog fests, make them STOP!!!!  Thank you and enjoy your weekend.

Michelle, great poem! Good Luck in 2014!

  14. Lexa Cain on January 18, 2014 at 6:28 pm

Woohoo for coffee! The nectar that we writerly gods live by. Where would we be wthout it?? 🙂

  15. Nancy LaRonda Johnson on January 19, 2014 at 3:39 am

I'd think there'd be lots of takers on this one. Aint nothin' get as much attention, or causes frivilous costs, as coffee. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:23 pm

Yes, coffee does seem to have the power to cause quite a hype… a frenzy… 🙂

  16. Sherry Ellis on January 19, 2014 at 7:03 pm

Nice poem!  I'll have to check out your blog hop.

  17. Stephen Tremp on January 20, 2014 at 12:21 pm

I do love my two to three cups of coffee every morning! I get headaches if I don't. Might be an addiction going on here.

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:25 pm

It sounds like one, Stephen… you're not the first and you won't be the last… 🙂

  18. Medeia Sharif on January 21, 2014 at 7:38 am

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but now I'd like a cup.

    • Michelle Wallace on January 21, 2014 at 9:27 pm

Coffee gives me a rush… helps to keep me awake. What do you do when you need a boost… a pick-me-upper?

  19. Crystal Collier on January 21, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Nice. I don't drink coffee, but I do SO love a good (American) cup of apple cider. Mmm… I should go have some right now. In fact, maybe I'll read the rest of the entries and just sub in "apple cider" for coffee? 😉

  20. Jocelyn Rish on January 21, 2014 at 11:19 pm

Fun tribute to coffee. I used to hate the stuff. Loved to smell it, gagged at the taste. I didn't even start drinking it in college like all the other cool almost adults. But then … I started writing. And it's like I immediately needed coffee. And even grew to *gasp* like it (although I still need a lot of milk and sugar). Now I don't know what I'd do without it. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:18 am

Even grew to like it? *gasp* *gasp* LOL. And now you're hooked! Typical scenario of the conversion of a non-coffee drinker. Ha!  🙂

  21. Mina B. on January 22, 2014 at 3:30 am

I couldn't have said it better.  That's exactly how much I love coffee too.  Well done. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:19 am

Hey Mina! Join me in a virtual toast! *raises glass*  🙂

  22. Shannon Lawrence on January 22, 2014 at 6:55 am

I like your tribute to coffee! Unfortunately, I have to skip it, thanks to it being a major trigger of migraines for me (Same as alcohol…I know! What kind of writer can I be without coffee OR wine!?). However, I still appreciate the smell. Mmmmmm. I'll pass along your blog hop on my Wednesday links post.

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:21 am

No coffee PLUS no wine… 🙁 So what have you replaced it with? Tea? Fizzy drinks? Other… 🙂

  23. Lisa Buie-Collard on January 22, 2014 at 2:17 pm

Came over from WEP, but liked your coffee blog! Could still "qualify" when you think most days, most "new beginnings" start with a cuppa! Wish I could still drink it, but caffiene doesn't agree with me anymore!

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:22 am

I'm running late with my WEP entry. But it should be up shortly… thanks for coming over Lisa!

  24. DG Hudson on January 23, 2014 at 12:49 am

I also came over from WEP, and I do like coffee, so read and enjoyed that. I usually like my own brew best, Not too strong. . .

A poem reminds us there is melody in words.

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:25 am

"A poem reminds us there is melody in words"… I love that D.G!

Poetry is my first love… but has since been ousted by flash fiction! Ha! 🙂

  25. Tyrean on January 23, 2014 at 5:17 am

Wonderful poem! That's a great tribue to coffee!

  26. E.J. Wesley on January 23, 2014 at 4:54 pm

A blog hop dedicated to coffee? How on earth did I miss this?! LOL Enjoyed the poem very much! (Heading over to Michael's to check the rest…)

  27. Misha on January 23, 2014 at 7:41 pm

Hahaha I loved your entry. Well said. 🙂

  28. Nas on January 23, 2014 at 8:06 pm

    Loved your coffee hop! Awesome!

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:28 am

Who can resist the allure of a coffee hop? 🙂 (unless you're not a coffee drinker…)

  29. Carol Kilgore on January 23, 2014 at 9:50 pm

    I love your poem!

    • Michelle Wallace on January 24, 2014 at 8:30 am

Thanks Carol! I can imagine relaxing under the tiki hut… sipping on iced coffee or a cappuccino… mmmm…. delish!

  30. Julie K Pick on January 24, 2014 at 7:59 am
