A is for Autographs/Atlas

ATTENTION ALL: a hearty welcome to all you amazing and anxious A-post arrivals who are making an appearance at this humble abode today! All aboard? Away we go!

Ever wondered what books would say if they had the chance to express themselves/air their views?

Well, you are about to find out!

All illustrations are by the talented Mary-An. Check out her website HERE

And now you get to play along! What do YOU think these two want to tell us? Post it in the comment section below. Have fun!

At the end of the challenge, between 02nd and 05th of May, I'm going to announce my favourite "book comment" which will be the one that resonates with me the most!

Before you leave, just a quick reminder that the IWSG site will have a corresponding post for each letter/day of the A to Z Challenge so do stop by.

On the Facebook page, a thread will be started for the "letter of the day" and we'd LOVE you to share your A to Z post links in the thread that will be posted on each day.
Example: April 01st a thread for the letter A will be posted; April 02nd a thread for the letter B will be posted and so on (reminder – Sundays are excluded)

It's actually a good idea to link up via the FB thread. This saves time scrolling through links on the master A to Z sign-up list, especially since people post at different times… some MAY skip letters… dead links etc.

And don't forget to visit those who stop by your blog! And now, I'm off to do the A to Z circuit!

Ha-ha. Kind of neat you are giving voice to books, with so many going electronic. Drawings are cute!  http://shells-tales-sails.blogspot.com/

  2. Tasha on April 1, 2014 at 9:03 am

Love the idea :).Hmm, what would the books say?

Atlas: Take me with you, I want to see the world in me.

Autographs: Me too, me too .. can we go to Cannes?

Hi Michelle .. this is great – the Atlas "Well I've seen the world … and I've a few things to tell you" … Autographs .. you may be outdated, but you're sure memorable and in some instances historical …

Book thoughts .. this will be fun – cheers Hilary

Autographs – Oooh, can you take me around the world for more signatures.

Atlas – And does it look like I'm sitting around doing nothing, collecting dust?

  7. Alex J. Cavanaugh on April 1, 2014 at 12:10 pm

Atlas – I'm all about the history, baby!

Autographs – So am I. And I bet I'm worth more.

  8. Mary Aalgaard on April 1, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Autos: I'm filled with anxious people.

Atlas: I can hold the weight of them all on my shoulders.

Happy April Fool's First Challenge Day!

Love how you're giving voice to your books!

Atlas – "I'm well-rounded, cultured, and educated. The world is at my fingertips."

Autographs – "You may have seen the world, but you did it alone. I have traveled the world and seen some very interesting people with very interesting stories. Care to join me for some new adventures? It's always better with friends."

LOL! Reading through these, and whew! I needed a good laugh. When I see the authograph book, all I can think about are the cheap Disney notebooks everyone buys here and then have all the "characters" sign. Um, yeah. How do they even do that wearing those heavy costumes? It's insane.

  12. Sydney Aaliyah on April 1, 2014 at 2:05 pm

Autograph Book – I'm full of people who were great for society.

Atlas – I'm full of societies with great people.

Lame, but I thought I'd give it a try for my first comment of A to Z.

Great idea. I'm afraid my brain isn't coming up with anything for them to say. Hopefully I'll get some inspiration as the month goes on.

  15. Mary on April 1, 2014 at 3:59 pm

    Neat post!

Atlas – I'm better than Google maps, you won't find a road on the sea when you read me…

Autographs – All you have to do is sign your name…

Thanks for visiting my blog! Warmly, Mary

Antiquated Atlas and Autograph Book, heh?  I'm getting all metaphorical here sniffing musty odors, fingering those cracked covers. When I peel back the pages I'm delighting in the illegible margin notes I made about the places I visited long ago or my friends very cool comments from that last high school day. Here's to the antiques that stir nostalgia and the creative juices for those books I might write in the future.

  17. Julie K Pick on April 1, 2014 at 4:36 pm

    Atlas Shrugged.

Autograph Book: Yes, we all know you have the world on your shoulders. But why do I have to do all of the talking?

    This was fun! Thanks Michelle!

  18. Yolanda Renee on April 1, 2014 at 5:28 pm

Atlas: Cute, a scratch or two from someone famous – nothing! I hold the facts – not the hype!

Auto: But I'm a collectible, you just flatten flowers!

  19. Al diaz on April 1, 2014 at 5:41 pm

Autographs: you think you know all the world.

    atlas: ha! Look who's talking

    Autograph: I've seen the signs

Atlas: I'll show you were to go

  29. jetgirlcos on April 1, 2014 at 10:39 pm

Thanks Michelle! Such a fun idea!

Atlas: Outdated? My motto is, "No wi-fi, no problem!" Come on, buddy, we're partners! Last time they forgot me, you ended up hanging out with that guy on the corner pretending to be an alien "Shakespeare!"

Autograph: Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. That guy was crazy. Took up 4 whole pages writing the soliloquy from "Hamlet" in Klingon. Hey, remember the time they went to Comic-con and stood in line for 6 hours trying to get Joss Whedon's signature? Good times, my friend, good times…

I had an autograph when I was little – loved getting it filled when I went to a week long camp (which I hated but the autographs were cool!) 🙂

  34. Mina B. on April 2, 2014 at 12:35 am

Autograph says…"Where do you think you're going?"

Atlas says…"Who do you think you are?"

  35. S. Katherine Anthony on April 2, 2014 at 1:04 am

    Love this so much!!!!!!! 😀

Authograph- "Hey, can I have your—"

    Atlas- "NO."

  36. krystal jane on April 2, 2014 at 1:18 am

    Autograph – I got Brad Pitt's autograph!

Atlas – Brad Pitt uses me as a TV tray. I win!

  37. lizzthelizard on April 2, 2014 at 1:19 am

Haha the atlas say to the autograph : what??? You don't move? I gotta move, mate, life is too short to stay in one place! And isn't said that those you don't travel, read only one page? You should really think about moving around, a bit at least!

  38. Lynda Dietz on April 2, 2014 at 1:20 am

Atlas: I don't wanna brag, but I get around.

Autograph book: It's not what you know, it's who you know, babe.

  39. Corinne Rodrigues on April 2, 2014 at 1:20 am

The pictures are fabulous and I know this going to be a great series, Michelle. Isn't it funny how both these books are now 'on the shelf' .

  40. Betty on April 2, 2014 at 2:16 am

I remember traveling with hubby and him bringing along the Atlas on some of our trips. Honestly, I'm glad for GPS these days! I remember with autograph books seeing kids at Disneyland carrying them around to try to get autographs of the characters there 🙂

My atlas would definitely plead guilty to being outdated, since it was printed in 1985.  I've kept using it all these years because it was a present from my uncle, who left this world in 1988.  It's not just any old atlas with outdated names and borders.

    Hi, Michelle!

Love the illustrations! 🙂 Sure! I'll play along.

Hmmm… My guess? I think this is pretty outdated but I think the images you've included are telling you not to judge books or that those who look at them often have a preconceived notion about them based on what they think is within.

Always an awesome affair with flair!

Atlas: "I'll trade you first class tickets to the Greek Islands for Chris Hemsworth."

Autograph: "Throw in a 5-star hotel with unlimited minibar and you've got yourself a deal."

  48. Leslie Rose on April 3, 2014 at 2:46 am
