A Winning Streak, Whacky Words & I Miss You/Deja-Vu

My winning streak has continued…

Between the Halloween Giveaways and the Realms Faire, with one or two other Rafflecopters thrown in, I’ve bagged about 16 e-books and a total of $65 in Amazon gift cards!

I hope all the NaNoNites are also on a winning streak! My NaNo mantra has grown…thanks to all who played along! It now goes something like this:

Break a pencil.

Shred a notebook.

Jam a keyboard. (Melissa Maygrove)

Empty a printer. (Elizabeth Seckman)

Fry a brain. (Robyn Campbell)

Edit the excess. (Sammy D)

Need more coffee! (Sherry Ellis)

Chuck a book. (Chrys Fey)

Corrupt a hard drive. (Nick Wilford)

Now what do I do with this wonderful mantra?! Any ideas? It would make a difference if I actually participated in NaNoWriMo…so maybe this will be the inspiration to get me going for next year…who knows…I need to make a poster and put this above my computer…

It’s time for WHACKY WORDS! Remember, this is supposed to be FUN!

Thank you to everybody who played along for the previous word. The real meaning of the word Intertrigo is an inflammation (rash) of the body folds…it commonly refers to a bacterial, fungal or viral infection. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/intertrigo

The definition that captured my attention was posted by…well, there was more than one. Christine Rains said: when you end up in another dimension from doing too much trigonometry…and Tyrean Martinson said: entering into a three part maze to find the inner diadem of mathematical bliss (doesn’t that sound AWESOME!) So my thoughts are: a trigonometry equation causes the brain/body to be transported to a parallel universe, and it then enters into a three part maze to find the inner diadem of mathematical bliss. Congratulations ladies, I think you’re onto something here! It sounds like an exciting premise for a sci-fi/paranormal/utopian story!

Today’s word is

                                              JUSSOLI

An exotic Mediterranean dessert! Yummy!

That’s my definition. (The word does have a meaning, but you are invited to play along by providing your own original meaning. No cheating and looking up the word. I’ll post the meaning next week). So do you wanna play along? Leave your definition in the comment section below.

Don’t forget the upcoming blogfests…just click on the images to sign up/for more information. Next week is—

List one to three bloggers you would really miss if they stopped blogging.
And then go let them know!

Anyone who decides to participate will re-post their favorite blog offering from earlier in the year, or one that you believe failed to receive the exposure it deserved. Imagine the blogosphere chock full of 2014 writing brilliance! Encouragement, enlightenment, knowledge, bared souls, stimulation, hilarity, insecurities, success stories! All on display…the very same day. And it couldn’t be any easier to take part…no writing necessary!

Awesome mantras! I’m needing those this week as I’m pushing to finish my latest novella. And thank you for picking my definition. Mixing it with Tyrean’s nifty one sounds so good!

Jussoli – A solar snake made out of helium that thrives in the sun’s nuclear fusion.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 9:55 pm

What would this snake look like? Something holographic…maybe? I’m trying to conjure a mental image…

  2. Hilary on November 18, 2014 at 1:44 pm

HI Michelle .. I’m off difficult mantras .. I’ll keep my feet firmly on the ground and push on … wheelbarrow in front of me .. or Porsche … somewhere in between I suspect.

Jussoli – blue stone necklace … with a pendant of sparkly precious jewels ..

Thanks for the reminder re the Miss You Blogfest .. have my thoughts …

I like Christine’s idea for Jussoli – just spotted it .. cheers Hilary

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 9:55 pm

I like that. Necklace with sparkly jewels…. 🙂

  3. Southpaw on November 18, 2014 at 2:13 pm

I’m barely moving this morning. It’s cold and I have bad allergies – not fair, but no one will listen to me. So right now jussoli sound like the mucus sloshing around in my head. 🙁

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 9:56 pm

So sorry to hear. Hope the allergies are better…

  4. Peaches Ledwidge on November 18, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Just so I lie – and take a rest (my definition). Another definition, delicious even after the last bite.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:00 pm

Ha! Delicious. Good one. *smacking of lips to savor the taste*

  5. Chrys Fey on November 18, 2014 at 3:32 pm

16 eBooks? Holy cow! And I know one of them is mine. 😉 You’re just lucky, lucky, lucky.

I love that mantra. It would be neat if we could keep it going.

Christine Rains is very imaginative with her definitions. How can you beat that? haha

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:02 pm

Yes, yours was one of them! 🙂
      I have a plan for the mantra…watch this space…

  6. Emily R. King on November 18, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Great mantras! Anything that’ll help you survive NaNo is the key. 🙂

  7. Alex J. Cavanaugh on November 18, 2014 at 4:22 pm

Thanks for plugging the Miss You Blogfest!
    JUSSOLI – juicy muesil drink.
    Yeah, sounds disgusting…

  8. Lexa Cain on November 18, 2014 at 5:03 pm

16 e-books and a total of $65 in Amazon gift cards?? Holy cow, that’s wonderful!! There’s nothing better than freebies–or a GF to make that book on your wish-list magically appear in your TBR list. Congrats!! 🙂

  9. elizabeth seckman on November 18, 2014 at 5:15 pm

That is an awesome mantra. I’m not doing NaNo either, but I think it works for writing in general too.

Infected body rolls? Ick. And how humiliating would it be to call off work for that?

Math and bliss are never used in the same sentence in my world- ever.

Jussoli- that’s easy. It’s a French word meaning you look so lovely with your rounded curves…just don’t let them get infected.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:05 pm

Rounded curves and fuller figure….jussoli! Ha! Love it!

  10. L. Diane Wolfe on November 18, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Great mantra. How about “Burn the eyes?” Because that’s how mine feel after staring at the computer screen all day.

  11. Sammy D on November 18, 2014 at 9:33 pm

    Lookin’ good, Michelle!!

That’s not part of the mantra; it’s just encouragement.

  12. Sammy D on November 18, 2014 at 9:34 pm

Hey! There were supposed to be a bunch of smiley faces at the end of my comment!!! Pretend there were!!

  13. Carol Kilgore on November 18, 2014 at 9:49 pm

    Love the ongoing mantra!

A luscious dessert popped into my head about jussoli, too. So I got nuthin’ else for this one.

  14. Jemi Fraser on November 19, 2014 at 12:27 am

I’m having a blast with nano again! I needed the creative boost because 2014 has been kicking my butt.

  15. Anna Simpson on November 19, 2014 at 12:53 am

I must be hungry because I’m thinking fancy pasta noodle. 🙂

    Anna from Shout with Emaginette

  16. Denise Covey on November 19, 2014 at 2:13 am

Well Michelle, aren’t you firing on all cylinders as we say. A pity you’re not doing NaNo with all that energy! I’m limping along not expecting to finish, but at least I’ve got my new story on the page.

    Denise 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:09 pm

Denise, I’m gearing up for NaNoWriMo 2015! 🙂

  17. krystal jane on November 19, 2014 at 6:11 am

    Fry a brain…LOL!
Ooh, I bet the Deja Vu blog hop is going to be fun!

JUSSOLI: the burnt pasta that sticks to the bottom of the pot ^_^

  18. Damyanti on November 19, 2014 at 7:17 am

I’m all for mantras! And congratulations on your winning streak– you’re one lucky girl 🙂

  19. tammy theriault on November 19, 2014 at 8:07 am

jussoli looks so yummy! i’ll remember THAT word 😀
so cool being an all time winner! and wow, that mantra is very…violent. hahaha!! what a cool collab of awesomeness!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:12 pm

Violent? I think NaNo brings out the best (and worse?) in writers… 🙂

  20. Celine on November 19, 2014 at 8:08 am

Wow congrats on your winning streak! That’s pretty amazing.

Stare at a Blank Page could be another part of the mantra, since it’s what we all have to start off by doing!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:13 pm

I suppose that’s part of the process…hopefully not too much staring…?

  21. Melissa Maygrove on November 19, 2014 at 12:25 pm

Jam a keyboard. When did I say that? LOL
    You’re cleaning up, girl! 😛

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:14 pm

      I don’t know what happened…just my time, I guess… 🙂
It was good while it lasted!

  22. Deniz on November 19, 2014 at 12:36 pm

    I like your definition!
Wish I was eating that right now 🙂

    That’s an awesome winning streak!

  23. Elise Fallson on November 19, 2014 at 12:46 pm

Love, love the mantras! I got a kick out of every single one, I’d be great to spread this around and collect more.

How about “Surmount the word count.” 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:16 pm

Thanks for the addition! Love it!
      I have a plan for the mantra…watch this space… 🙂

  24. Cherie Reich on November 19, 2014 at 3:42 pm

Sounds like you’ve been very lucky! That’s quite a haul in prizes!

My first thought of that word was food-related too. LOL!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:17 pm

Yes, I’ve been on a roll with the prizes! I’m so grateful…

  25. Carrie-Anne on November 19, 2014 at 3:44 pm

I would’ve guessed jussoli as a type of pasta.

Congratulations on winning so many things!

  26. Crystal Collier on November 19, 2014 at 3:59 pm

Jusolli: the quality or consistency of having a jiggling structure.

That mantra is epic. I want to print it and paste it next to my computer, but add the final bit of encouragement: AND DO IT NOW!!!

    Unleashing the Dreamworld

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:25 pm

How much jiggly jelly in a jumbo-sized jussoli? 🙂

  27. Gisele LeBlanc on November 19, 2014 at 4:02 pm

Fry a brain, lol, yep that’s pretty much what doing NaNo does to me–which is why I don’t think I’ll be trying it again. Best of luck to everyone out there who is doing it though! My hat is off to all of you!

And, that’s awesome on your winning streak! I have what I call my “Abundance Jar” and every time I win something, or anything good happens to me, I write it down on a little piece of paper and throw it in my jar. Then once the New Year rolls around, I empty out and read all of them. It’s a great way to stay focused on the positive. 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:28 pm

The “Abundance Jar” sounds like a wonderful project…a reminder to count our blessings… 🙂

  28. Loni Townsend on November 19, 2014 at 4:40 pm

Woohoo for winning! I love the mantras. Too bad I can’t think of any to add. Cultivate the characters? Rely on Red Bull? (Wait, that might just be me).

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:29 pm

Those are great ones to add to the list! Thanks Loni! 🙂

  29. Sherry Ellis on November 19, 2014 at 4:56 pm

    Love the mantras!

Okay. Here’s my definition of Jusolli: It’s what you get when you mix ravioli and juice (your choice of flavor) in a blender.

  30. Robyn Campbell on November 19, 2014 at 9:18 pm

Jussoli makes me think we’re sitting in an outdoor Italian cafe. We’re drinking expresso, chatting and laughing. When we laugh, our heads go back and our scarves blow in the wind. Lipstick is red; we’re munching on jussoli pasta and whispering politely covering our mouths when we speak, checking our hair and makeup in our mirrors. (Of course, we MUST reapply the lipstick after every bite of pasta.)

My brain is fried. On schedule for 100,000. *waves peace signs at Michelle*

Printing out the mantra. I NEED the push.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:33 pm

      Your jussoli sounds so trendy…snazzy…
WOW! You’re a NaNoWriMo Machine! Congratulations!!

  31. joylene on November 19, 2014 at 11:54 pm

I love the Fry A Brain. I also don’t do NaNo. I’m so impressed with anyone who take the chance. Or doesn’t and understands why.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:34 pm

I think I fall into the second group.
      But I may try it…ONCE. Someday…

  32. Stina Lindenblatt on November 20, 2014 at 12:17 am

Have you bought a lottery ticket lately? I just saying yanno. 🙂

Congrats on all your winnings, Michelle.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:36 pm

Maybe I should buy that ticket…strike while the iron is hot…yanno. 🙂

  33. Patricia Lynne on November 20, 2014 at 12:28 am

That’s a nice haul you’ve won. Congrats. Keep the streak going!

  34. Mary Pax on November 20, 2014 at 12:30 am

Mantras are great. My favorite: Never give up, never surrender.

Jussoli – pasta of the gods. It floats on your tongue like little flavor clouds.

  35. Medeia Sharif on November 20, 2014 at 10:14 am

I’d like to join some blogfests, but my blog is usually booked with things.

The word sounds like dessert to me.

Wow, your winning streak is amazing.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:39 pm

You’re such a busy and productive person, Medeia. It’s understandable.

  36. Beth on November 21, 2014 at 4:45 pm

love your mantras, and I’m definitely doing Deja Vu Blogfest 🙂 okay Jussoli: first thing that came to mind was cannolis for dinosaurs. I thought of Jurassic Park and cannolis. I know, my mind goes to weird places. :/

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:40 pm

That’s quite an original take on the word! 🙂
Our minds need to go to these weird places, that’s what stimulates creativity! So don’t worry.

  37. Annalisa Crawford on November 21, 2014 at 6:04 pm

Love the mantras. And I’m very impressed with all your winnings. Maybe if I entered competitions, I’d stand a chance of winning them.

Jussoli – a feeling midway between excitement and rapture.

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:41 pm

I love your feel-good interpretation of the word!

  38. Stephanie Faris on November 22, 2014 at 12:20 am

How about this for a mantra:

    “Don’t think–just keep typing!”

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:42 pm

Yep! It hit a spot. I’m guilty of over-thinking. Good one.

  39. susan swiderski on November 22, 2014 at 3:19 pm

Hi-ya! TOLD ya I was gonna visit your blog soon. (Figured I’d better do it right away, before it slipped my mind.)

As for your mantra, how about turning them into a song? Throw in some weird sounds, and you can call it a nano-rap.

Now, that word. Jussoli. Domtcha love the way it rolls off the tongue with an Italian kinda flair to it? And well it should. A jussoli is a homemade ravioli that you make after you run out of filling. Nothing ravishing on the insdie… “jus” an empty “oli.”

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:45 pm

      Hey Susan…you got here! 🙂
      Nano-Rap? That’s an idea…
…and I love your definition of the word!

  40. susan swiderski on November 22, 2014 at 3:20 pm

Darn. Should be on the INSIDE. (Teach me not to proof read!)

  41. Penny the Pawbisher on November 23, 2014 at 4:14 am

    Hi human, Michelle,

Getting to leave a comment is a nightmare for my poor paws. Type in name, email address and website. Arf!

Keep that winning “streak” going. Is that liking running naked and finishing first?

Please, I beg you, no more mention of blog hops, or blog fests or anything to do with the alphabet! Let’s make it STOP, I beg you!

    Pawsitive wishes,

    Penny 🙂

  42. Caryn Caldwell on November 23, 2014 at 4:59 pm

Hmm. I think my comment went to spam. That’s been happening a lot lately. (Feel free to spring it from there if you want! :-D) Anyway, here’s what I *tried* to say…

Congratulations on your winning streak! That’s amazing! I’m with you on not being able to participate in NaNoWriMo this year. There’s always next year, though, right? Happy writing!

    • Michelle Wallace on November 23, 2014 at 10:47 pm

      Thanks Caryn!
Next year…I’ve been saying that I’ll do it…we’ll see.
