B is for Blook

Blistering Barnacles! (I've always wanted to say that) *giggles* I was up bright and breezy on this B-Day to browse the writings of you bloody brilliant, busy-bee batch of brave bloggers. If the barrage of bombasticity begins to bore you, I'm begging you to bear with me… don't burst my bubble…

Anyway, stay busy… break a pencil… or something like that…

Ever wondered what books would say if they had the chance to express themselves/air their views?

Well, you are about to find out!

All illustrations are by the talented Mary-An. Check out her website HERE

But wait! What is a blook?

Short version? It's a book printed and bound, that's based on content from a previous blog. Go to WIKIPEDIA for more info…

And now you get to play along! What do YOU think the blook wants to tell us? Post it in the comment section below. Have fun!

At the end of the challenge, between 02nd and 05th of May, I'm going to announce my favourite "book comment" which will be the one that resonates with me the most!

A REMINDER: the IWSG site will have a corresponding post for each letter/day of the A to Z Challenge so do stop by.

On the Facebook page, a thread will be started for the "letter of the day" and we'd LOVE you to share your A to Z post links on the daily thread – this saves YOU time scrolling through links on the master A to Z sign-up list, especially since people post at different times… some MAY skip letters… dead links etc.

One last thing – don't forget to visit those who stop by your blog!

Hi Michelle – I think I'd sing "Fading Away" by the Temptations .. I used to be belovedly made from papyrus, easier than those clay tablets, or being scrawled on pyramids, ancient scribes in that far off land used pen and vellum, then some bright spark invented the printing press – paper came in from China over the centuries and books became available … to the rich, then to all peoples … now some remarkably 'stupid' clever brighter spark in this digital age of ours has reduced our books to a screen … clever … but I don't want to fade away … I want to be felt, smelt, touched, passed on to others …

Cheers – I treasure my books .. but Mr B for book you are cumbersome sometimes .. but I prefer to read you … Hilary

Hi Michelle – I took that comment on board re the audio .. certainly a definite thought.  I am moving in those sorts of directions .. cheers H and thanks!

I'd never head of a blook, thank you for enlightening me 🙂 Your alliteration deserves a medal, BTW.

Blook – "You corrected all the typos, but that gave the content character!"

Truly love the illustrations. I'm keeping my posts short for the whole month of April and I'm hoping to get more answers from the Qs since I'm on research mode and in search for ideas. 🙂

My guess for this one? Hmmm… Probably the Blook doesn't know what genre it belongs to since there are some that have varied themes… Just like people, we sometimes feel we are holding different personalities but it's still all one and the same in the end. Just my guess. 😉

If I were that book I'd be thinking…Blook?…Jeez…ebook, blog, vlog, who has time to learn another term? 😀

  6. Holly Jahangiri on April 2, 2014 at 1:24 pm

I think it would say something like, "I feel so…static."

Or, "But ironically, I was all about change… and now I never will."

I love made-up words, so "blook" had me…err…hooked.

I'm not sure the blook would be saying something as much as quietly chucking to itself that people are now paying for stuff they could have read for free, if only they'd paid attention sooner.

  8. Wendy Ewurum on April 2, 2014 at 3:10 pm

I love the alliteration, i love this new word. at least i'm not as baffled this time as I was when i found out about vlog. I think i actually had to google search that at the time.

The blook says, "I have existed intangibly. Some people read me, some skipped me, and some skimmed me. But, I was here and gone. Until now. Now, I am real. I don't drift in and out, but I exist always and forever. When hands turn my pages I come alive. I live. I breathe. I am."

  10. Michael Di Gesu on April 2, 2014 at 3:41 pm

    Okay…

I think the book want to tell us…

"READ ME… DEVOUR ME…ENJOY ME… LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY…LEARN FROM IT!…I AM ALL KNOWING, HEAD MY WORDS…LAUGHT WITH ME…CRY WITH ME…PRAY FOR ME… PRAY FOR YOURSELVES… BUT, MOST OF ALL…FINISH ME! LOL.

Blook —  "What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

Yeah, that's what he would say! 🙂

    Hi Michelle!

I totally forgot about the word blook. Thanks for reminding me about it. I loved your "B" intro.  Especially the red 'b's – adorable and clever.

As a blook, I'd take the blog by its font and build a network of blook writers who understand my significance in this ever-changing world called publishing. New genre. New market. What's to lose?

  17. Yolanda Renee on April 2, 2014 at 7:10 pm

Okay, a blook! My brain is fried!

Movies have come from blogs turned into books – what is next the Moblook!

  18. Nana Prah on April 2, 2014 at 7:27 pm

How long did it take you to come up with this post. I would have still been writing it. Blimey you did a great job.

Who doesn't want to say Blistering Barnacles? Love your alliteration and as always, your creativity. Fun theme!

  21. Egyirba on April 2, 2014 at 9:54 pm

    Love your B alliteration!

  22. Silvia Villalobos on April 2, 2014 at 10:18 pm

Very creative, Michelle. A blook is trying to tell me about a collection of blogs and books and posts and stories and … everything involving an identity crisis 🙂

    I can't say I didn't try.

    Best,

The blook would say "My life feels so organized and put together now!"

Awesomely acute and astounding alliteration *applause*

  24. Allison on April 3, 2014 at 1:32 am

Best opening paragraph I've seen today!

I'd like to know what you'd call a documentary about blooks based on the blook that first documented it! 🙂

  25. WriterlySam on April 3, 2014 at 1:37 am

I can see you're having a blast with "B"! I believe, Blook might be thinking, "Look at me! I'm CAPTCHA free!"

This is the first I've heard of a blook. I'm not sure what it would say. Maybe, go to bed… or is that just me being tired and wanting to get some sleep. LOL

Hey Michelle, Thank you for the alliteration review for my class tomorrow! Blook is thinking, "Please wipe the chocolate off your fingers before you turn my page."

  28. Michelle Wallace on April 3, 2014 at 7:40 am

Thank you for the comments! I'm really having a GREAT time reading all the "book conversations"!  🙂 Unfortunately, I cannot reply to them (which I really wanted to do…)… my time is tight…

It's gonna be SO DIFFICULT to choose…

  29. Rosie Amber on April 3, 2014 at 8:12 am

A blook was news to me too, although I have recently come across 2 books made up from blog posts. Author Seamus Gallacher found an automated message from Amazon after he'd published his blook, saying that it could not be part of Kindle Select Program because items from the book had appeared elsewhere on the web, ie his own blog thus contravening his contract with them. His choice was to delete them from the blog or take down the book.

  30. notesinabook on April 3, 2014 at 9:16 am

I had not heard the term 'blook' before. Great B entry.

  31. SD Neeve on April 3, 2014 at 9:25 am

Yay, I can actually add a comment!

Yet another great post, but still can't think of anything the blook would say. Still, I'm enjoying everyone else's comments. 🙂

  32. Doreen McGettigan on April 3, 2014 at 10:31 am

That is the first time I heard the word blook. I like it. I am planning on doing just rhat with my A-Z Posts this year.

  33. Debi O'Neille, writing against the wind on April 3, 2014 at 5:35 pm

Huh. I forgot there even was a word blook. Thanks. And thanks for the laugh, too.

  34. Debi O'Neille, writing against the wind on April 3, 2014 at 5:38 pm

I should add that my dictionary is no help. I was thinking of bloak. Did you make the word 'blook' up? 🙂

    Deb@ http://debioneille.blogspot.com

  35. Debi O'Neille, writing against the wind on April 3, 2014 at 6:59 pm

So I see it in Wikipedia, but if you look up blook under a Google search, it's not there. A book of blog posts is something a couple of people I've met through a doozy you're working on, and that's cool. Great posting.

Thanks everybody! Keep those great "book conversations" rolling… I'm having a blast!

Learned something new today- apparently I have quite a few blooks on bookshelf.
