Bluebell SSS Prompt No. 9 ~ Bittersweet Liberation

They say that sorry is the hardest word . But I beg to differ . I can say sorry , over and over … Sorry for doubting you . Sorry that I failed to live up to your expectations . Sorry this … sorry that . Sorry ……. that you had to find out the truth in such a cruel manner . I think that the hardest word is goodbye . Farewell . Ciao . Auf Wiedersehen . Adieu . It doesn't matter what language you use (there's a choice of four , remember …) . It doesn't matter who you are . If you've ever had to say goodbye , you'll know the gut-wrenching feeling . Goodbye should be banned from the vocabulary . It is too harsh . Rather walk away , pretend that the departure is for a little while only , a temporary condition , hiatus . So you say , see you later !

And as the vessel moves away , floating little by little , on course to who-knows-where , it is buffeted by a light wind which lifts the edges of the diaphonous organza fabric , ruffles it gentle and playful , in stark contrast to the forlorn figure silhouetted against a dusky sky . The vessel moves and the distance increases . The gut-wrenching is all-consuming . But you should know the feeling by now . It's not new . This scenario has played itself out , many times … So why the sense of loss , betrayal ? Because this time it's different .

And as the vessel grows smaller and smaller , becomes a mere dot on the horizon and disappears , like the blip on a radar screen ; the day draws to a close , and it's the closing of another chapter of the novel that is your nomadic existence . But it's the final chapter of this epic novel . As the co-author , I should know . And I don't believe in sequels …..

So true. I hate that word, too, and what it means.
    Well, I'll see ya. : )

"and I don't believe in sequels" . . . gee, I wish I could get to that point.  Brava!

    • mish on September 3, 2011 at 2:12 pm

Thanks Kay ! I think we find it difficult to reach that point because “hope springs eternal in the human breast ” … there’s always that sense of … maybe it will get better … maybe a positive change will come … be patient … give it time … 🙂

honesty is important, love your confession alike entry.

    beautiful take.

    • mish on September 3, 2011 at 2:19 pm

Thank you morning . The first step when working towards a solution is to acknowledge the cold , hard facts of a situation . And it’s so difficult to step away from a situation and be objective and honest .

Very well done, Mish …I like your thoughts on the words sorry and good-bye.
I am always intrigued with the way so many find something totally different to express in their interpretations of the photo. I have attempted to put mmy thoughts into the photo,as well.

The two words popped into my mind when I saw the prompt , and they wouldn’t go away so I used the words to start off my piece and the rest just followed . I’m gonna hop over to your place to read your contribution .

    brilliant words,
a new chapter begins when one makes a turn.

    well done.

    • mish on September 3, 2011 at 2:24 pm

Thank you so much . I think the hardest part is to actually make that turn … close an existing chapter …

I agree.. "Good-bye" should be stricken from the vocabulary!
Also, I love the last 2 lines… very profound 🙂
