Blogfest Day 18 ~ R is for Royal Ruminations

I know that I'm probably opening up a can of worms , but can somebody tell me , what does the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton have to do with anything ? The wedding is less than one week away , and already the world is in a frenzy … What have these two human beings done to enhance your life ? Nothing . Zilch . Nada . Yet some people get completely carried away . Make it their life's duty to know everything there is to know about them . Every intimate detail . Follow their every move . It would be productive to invest even a small fraction of the time and energy chanelled into following these royals , into ones own life … I mean , why the big fuss , the commotion , over these two individuals ? Whom I have nothing against , mind you . Let me make that clear . I don't know either one from a bar of blue soap ! Beside what the media has to say about them . And we cannot be certain of the facts . It's quite often hearsay … and we know full well , that the media love to sensationalize a story . Gossip and rumour are the order of the day …

Wasn't it 29 years ago ? Or thereabouts ? A similar frenzy erupted , when the late people's princess and her then -to-be-hubby-who-is-now-married-to-horseface-whatsername , tied the knot ? And that wedding was OTT ! So can you imagine the wedding next week ? It will probably be on a much grander scale than Wills' mum and dad . And why not ? You watch the press for details . They will leave no stone unturned . And even if you wanted to , you won't be able to avoid the commotion since it will be in your face , larger than life , shoved down your throat at every turn .

And while I'm on a "royal ramble" , I believe that Ms. Middleton is a commoner ! Yep ~ just like you and me . Normal . Plain . Ordinary . Plebeian . Commoner . None of that aristocratic "blue blood" pooh pooh ! Isn't it amazing how these people can bend , alter , twist or change the "rules of the game" as they desire ? Back in the day , you HAD TO HAVE "blue blood" to marry into royalty . No question ! No compromise ! Anything to the contrary would have raised much more than just a royal eyebrow ~~ it would have raised a royal racket ! Which would have reverberated … an aristocratic abomination !!! But , that was then …

As time passed , it became acceptable if you were a cousin's-brother's-sister's-neice's-aunty's-uncle's-relative who had "blue blood" ~~ you could still trace it somewhere , no matter how obscure ! Today , it doesn't matter much , you don't have to possess not even a quarter  pint of the blue stuff . The plain , old , common , red variety will do just fine , thank you ! Welcome into the royal family , Ms. – er – Normalton – sorry – er – I mean , Ms. Middleton ! *giggles* Does that mean she can become queen , though ? Well , once again , the rules will be adjusted to suit the royal-agenda-of-that-moment ! Whatever that may be ! Whenever that may be ! And on that royal note ~~ cheers !
