Welcome to Day 2 of the Third Annual A to Z Challenge!
My theme – my 26 fiction posts will revolve around something musical – it could be anything, as long as it's musically-related… maybe a song title, an artist/band, musical terminology, musical instruments, words relating to sound/rhythm/movement/dance etc. I'm feeling a little better today – not so apprehensive… but we'll see…
MUSICAL CONNECTION/ASSOCIATION. BOSSA NOVA – style of Brazilian music.
In my mind’s eye, she belonged on the beach, red hibiscus in her long wavy hair, sarong wrapped around her cocoa, bikini-clad body, sipping on a pina colada… a snazzy Girl from Ipanema.
Something about Mrs. Fernandez reminded me of a samba .
I struggled to fathom exactly what the connection was… but it eluded me.
Until the day she walked pass my desk and the penny dropped!
That was it!
She wore them around her neck and hanging down in front.
Five, long multi-coloured strands that moved around as she walked, her step purposeful and strident, yet graceful… with a fiery dose of Latino flair in the sway of her rounded hips.
They swished smoothly, to and fro in a distinct rhythm… this way and that… just like the bossa nova… bossa nova beads moving in time to an unheard Brazilian beat.
Two weeks have sinced passed.
Mrs. F has returned from a hiatus, but the bossa nova has fizzled, the funk replaced by a distinct lacklustre…
… and the beads are gone!
