Celebrate The Small Things

It's Friday again, which means it's celebration time. This is a weekly hop hosted by Viklit over at Scribblings Of An Aspiring Author.

I found 4 interesting links which I want to share with you…

~ All about tightening dialogue HERE

~ Heard of "Lazy-Commenters-Syndrome"? Then you gotta read THIS.

~ Do you know of an awesome blogger who is going through a 'rough patch' and needs a pick-me-up? You can nominate him/her for an award. Go HERE for the details.

~ for those published writers, I found out about a site where authors can post excerpts from their books. Readers get a taste of something they might not typically check out. If they like what they see, they can click on a link that takes them right to your book. Check it out HERE. What do you have to lose?

This week I'm celebrating the following:

~ Writing: My story is moving along… I'm definitely going to need somebody to bounce ideas off… any takers interested in forging a mutual "writing-buddy-styled-arrangement" with a suspense-writer-in-the-making…? Just indicate in the comment section…

~ Reading: I read a contemporary novella, written in diary-styled prose which made it almost autobiographical in nature. Fresh and very unusual!

~ It's the end of June, which means half the year is over! Wow! Where did time go to?

~This is also the end of the first week, of my 3-week mid-year holiday! Yay!

So what have you been up to? Please share in the comment section… and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Keep writing and enjoying your holiday!

Visited a couple of the links already, but need to check out that last one.

Thank you for those links; they're great.  I hope you find a writing buddy.  I would volunteer myself, but I don't have the time at the moment 🙁

Hi Michelle.  Hope all is well.  I've been too busy to visit blogs lately but am trying to get back into the swing of things.  Hope all is well with you.  The links look intersting here.  My weekend is packed with family stuff.  I'm a bit drained at the moment.  Cheers. 🙂

I wish I was a suspense writer so I could help you, but very much not my genre. (As in, I'm the last person you want helping with a suspense, mystery, or thriller.)

My weekend looks light. That almost never happens!

  6. Misha on June 28, 2013 at 8:26 pm

You could bounce ideas by me if you like. I don't really write thrillers, but I have a great knack for plotting and characterization. 🙂

Wish I was on holiday now, Michelle. Defiinitely need a vacay right about now.

I've written a couple of romantic suspense novels, so you can bounce some stuff off me if you like.

    Have a great weekend!

      Julie F ~ Thank you.

Alex J ~ That last link looks very interesting…

Rebeccah ~ I understand. Thank you.

Mina B ~ Nice to hear from you. I'm well and hope you are too. I have a feeling that I may also have to cut back on blog visits. Time is so tight these days…

L.Diane ~ Light weekend? You are usually such a busy lady. 🙂

Misha ~ Plot and characterisation are the main elements. That would be a great help. Thanks Misha.

Joy ~ I'll appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks.

I'm mulling things over since half the year is gone. The end of June makes me thoughtful.

    I'll check out the links.

I'm out of town in two days. Yay! Life can wait until I get home, eh? 😉

I read suspense (Koontz all the way!), I love thrillers, and I've dabbled in pretty much every genre out there. I'm not solid on the "standard" conventions of the genre, but that may be a good thing–leaves room for creative liscence. That said, I'm an amazing brainstormer (with a big head apparently, but the CP's will back me up on this one), so if you haven't found the help you need, feel free to loop me in. –And as alway, eat cheese! (It helps with the creative process–no lie!)

Great stuff to share. Glad you're celebrating. Here in Minnesota, people feel like the Fourth of July (our Independence Day celebration) marks the halfway point of summer. In some ways, it feels like the start of summer because the weather is finally hot! I'm celebrating so many wonderful people and writing/teaching opportunities. I feel blessed!

    Krystal ~ Holidays? Double yay!!

    Viklit ~ You're welcome.

Shelly ~ You are such a sweetie. (((HUGS)))

    Lexa ~ I will, thank you. 🙂

Medeia ~ I always admire your productivity and drive… and I'm certain that your musings will yield positive results!

Crystal ~ Life can wait – for sure. Creative licence? I like the sound of that. Amazing brainstormer? I like that even better. And who can say no to cheese? 🙂

Mary ~ I really love your spirit. Your excitement. It's so contagious… a real burst of fresh air! You're always writing/staging wonderful productions and you're in contact with wonderful people/opportunities…  I can't wait to read all about it! 🙂

I'm not a suspense writer, Michelle, but I could give your ms a read. Who knows what a non-suspence writer might have in the way of help. I like reading suspense, if that counts. 🙂

Thanks for the links. Keep writing but enjoy your holiday, too.

C.Lee ~ Thank you for the offer. You are right in saying that writers outside of a genre also have valuable input! Maybe because they are not so immersed in the genre, this gives a different and fresh perspective…?  🙂

LD Masterson ~ I'm trying to make the most of the holidays… an equal amount of relaxation and constructive activities…

Carol ~ I'd love to spend some holiday time relaxing under that fabulous Tiki Hut! 🙂

Sarah Allen ~ Thanks so much.

I like the sound of no jackets no names and I will definitely read the one about lazy commenting. I've had a few people who write comments that show they've not properly read what I wrote. I hope i've never fallen into that trap, myself though some long posts are quite a challenge. ;O) Good luck with the story writing. I've been VV busy or ill so haven't been blogging properly for ages.
