D is for Delirium + Dragonfold And Other Adventures
Welcome to the annual A to Z Challenge.
My theme: showcasing bloggers books, novellas, short story collections, poetry collections and some non-fiction books. The letters of the alphabet will correspond with the book title. I’ll be posting a link to my review of each book. I also have two questions for the author, just to spice things up a little.
Hopefully, visitors to my blog will be able to increase their reading lists and also get ideas for their wish lists.
Delirium (Debt Collector 1) by Susan Kaye Quinn. Read my review HERE.
Genre/Category: Future-noir (science fiction).
The book character you want to have coffee with is: Dumbledore.
What would you name the autobiography of your life? Doing All The Things.
Dragonfold And Other Adventures by Tyrean Martinson. Read my review HERE.
Genre/Category: Speculative collection of short stories and poetry. Dragonfold, the title story, is fantasy.
The book character you want to have coffee with is: The book character I would want to have coffee with is: Azami from the “Dragonfold” story. I would want to thank her for starring in the first short story I ever sold. Also, I would like to get some tips from her about folding origami dragons that really fly.
What would you name the autobiography of your life? Daydreamer and Believer.
One lucky winner will receive an e-book of Delirium. The second lucky winner will receive an e-book of Dragonfold And Other Adventures. Please leave an e-mail address after your comment by Thursday 07th April, if you wish to be entered in the giveaway. Winners will be announced Friday 08th April.
Have you read future-noir science fiction? What are your thoughts on debt payment in a scary world where your life force counts as currency? Do you read or write short stories? Want to share the title of a short story collection that readers may enjoy? Do you like poetry? Are you a daydreamer or a realist?
Two great authors today! Flying origami dragons sound like fun.
Thanks, Nick!
I loved dragons as a child and young adult – origami flying ones would be just up my street. Anne McCaffrey not only wrote dragon books but some good short stories too I seem to recall 🙂

Interesting, life force as currency. Hmm…
I read and write them, Parallels: Felix Was Here will be out Mary 3.
I love poetry, and oh yes, a daydreamer and a realist. Terrifying combination! LOL
Happy April 4th!
That would be a terrifying combo!
I’ve read Tyrean’s book! It’s a fun collection of short stories.
Thanks, Alex!
Hi, Michelle…
These are two wonderful authors~ Thanks so much for featuring them. I am very familiar with both their works!
Such a great theme!
Thanks, Michael!
Interesting books that you’ve showcased!
About short stories — I just picked up a used copy of “Best Short Stories of 2014” at our local library sale and have been enjoying them.

Short stories are fun to read, especially when I don’t have time to read a whole novel.
I have to say I’m a combination of both a daydreamer and realist. It makes a nice balance. I haven’t read much sci-fi, but I plan on checking out your book recommendations.
Thanks, Donna!!!
And thank you so much, Michelle, for featuring my book on your blog!!!
Drangonfold sounds awesome!
Thank you for sharing! I enjoy writing short stories, as well as reading them of course. I’ve recently enjoyed reading the collection of short stories by British author Joanna Campbell ‘When Planets Slip Their Tracks’.
I’ve started writing a lot more short stories in the past couple of years. Before that, I’d barely touched that format since high school.
One of the last story collections I read and really loved was King’s “Full Dark, No Stars.” Brilliant.
To my knowledge, I haven’t read future-noir science fiction, but no one could take a class with Richard Thomas without getting well versed in neo-noir. Students of Richard’s will understand. 😛
Guilty as charged on both counts – short stories and poetry 🙂
You are changing my TBR lists in the most positive manner possible. Thank you.

I have not read future-noir science fiction, but it sounds awesome. When it comes to my lifeforce, I think I would prefer not to use it as currency, thanks, all the same 😉 I love a good short story – sometimes it is great to sink into another world, but only for a coffee break. I also love writing them. However, I have also been disappointed by many, many short stories. Sometimes they just don’t go anywhere.

I love your theme this year, Michelle. These both look like great books. I read a noir sci-fi cyberpunk novel called Noir (funnily enough 🙂 by K.W. Jeter that was pretty awesome. I’d say it’s a bit futuristic, but the noir element always gives an older, tarnished vibe. It’s a good combo.
Both books sound awesome and I love the covers.

Hi Michelle! I had to look up the term future noir because I hadn’t even heard that and I’m still not entirely sure, but … I think so. I usually prefer more upbeat stuff and fantasy/soft sci-fi but I like to read around and occasionally I like melodrama. Hm… I think the concept of life force as currency is fascinating. Even though it got bad reviews, I thought the movie In Time was a really good concept – and it brings that concept to mind. I suppose that would count as future noir but cinema not book. I wonder if The Revivalist series by Rachel Caine would count as future noir. Loved it too. I have to admit you have my piqued my curiosity about Delirium now. I’m in the library while I type this and surrounded by tempting books.
Another selection of books that sound interesting to read. My list of TBR’s keep getting longer.
Shalom,
Pat
They’re already on that list of mine. They moved up one notch yesterday when I finally finished book 12 for the year. I can’t keep up with this!
I like the auto-bio title, Daydreamer and Believer.

Two authors/books I’d never heard of. Thanks for this!

Call me a daydreaming realist.
I have only recently discovered that I enjoy reading and writing science fiction, I have so much reading to do to catch up.
What a fabulous theme!
I still need to read Tyrean’s Champion series.
I am 100% a daydreamer 😀
