Did I Notice Your Book Blogfest

Did I Notice Your Book Blogfest, October 17, 2012
Post about a book you’ve noticed.

You can choose a book that you’ve read, something you saw on a blog or social media site, Goodreads, or a sales website. Anything that caught your eye because of a great cover, blurb or reviews, but DON’T tell the author that their book has been noticed. Instead, shout out on social media sites, and encourage others to do the same, until the author finds his/her book.

Leave a blog comment at Ninja Captain Alex or Ciara Knight when the author finds their book.

Only two rules:
1) You can’t post about your own book.
2) The book shouldn’t be on the New York Times or USA Today bestseller list. This is your chance to shout out about a book that might not have been  noticed by others.

I've noticed lots of interesting books around the blogosphere over the past weeks. Since there's no rule saying that we have to post about only ONE book, I'm going to name three books that have captured my attention… each one for a different reason… and instead of posting an excerpt/blurb, I'll simply explain… so here goes…

TITLE

                                                       My Book

Who can remain immune to this title? The Mistaken. From the first time I spotted it, I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. It is a strong title (the cover picture does help too…), which hints at a rollercoaster, edge-of-your-seat story and delivers a punch, right to the solar plexus… and it is my favourite genre…

DIFFERENT GENRE

Before I started my fiction writing, I wouldn't normally give a second glance to books in the sci-fi genre. But Mary's book has piqued my curiosity, and as I've mentioned before, it sounds like the one (apart from CassaStar), that could get me started on my sci-fi journey…

PICTURE COVER

This is the most gorgeous picture cover I've seen in a while… all glittery… shimmering… sparkling… like thousands of precious stones… a real visual treat! You've got to see the enlarged version. When I first saw it, it took my breath away… and I'm proud to say that Rachel is a "homegrown" writer!

So there you have it folks!

Three books… three different reasons… three different genres!

So what do you think? Am I mistaken about the title? Any other sci-fi suggestions? Have you seen a prettier cover picture recently?

Awesome choices! And I agree with you on all of them. I don't know much about Mary's book, but I'm sure to check it out now. Thanks for sharing  (:

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:22 pm

I didn't want to choose one over the other, because all three have been on my mind… so I highlighted all! 🙂

You're right! That's a beautiful cover for The Faerie Garden.  All three choices are great!

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:24 pm

You must check out the larger picture of the cover… it is to-die-for! 🙂

  6. joylene on October 17, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Yay for Nancy's book. And congrats on the others too!

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:25 pm

Yay for Nancy's book! My kind of story!!

  7. Carrie-Anne on October 17, 2012 at 4:39 pm

I love the cover of The Faerie Guardian, even though I'm not a fantasy person at all.  Purple is my favorite color.

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:27 pm

I'm not a fantasy person either… although I don't have a particular aversion to trying out a fantasy story… purple is linked to royalty… 🙂

  8. S. L. Hennessy on October 17, 2012 at 4:47 pm

They all sound pretty great, but I'm really intrigued by The Mistaken. Sounds like a great premise.

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:29 pm

Yes, I would have to agree with you… 100%

  9. E.J. Wesley on October 17, 2012 at 5:05 pm

Love that you went with different angles for your DINYB choices. I've seen all three pop up in the blog-o-sphere, and they sound like amazing reads! 🙂

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:30 pm

I decided to choose 3 because at that moment, I couldn't settle on one specific book. Thanks for visiting E.J. 🙂

  10. Hilary on October 17, 2012 at 5:27 pm

Hi Michelle – glad you've given us a choice of three .. they all sound interesting .. and Nancy's especially as I love that cover .. cheers Hilary

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:32 pm

Gripping cover! Gripping title! Gripping story… I'm almost certain! Thanks Hilary!

  11. Alex J. Cavanaugh on October 17, 2012 at 5:53 pm

I know all three of those authors! (And read two of the books – both excellent.) No one's found their book yet – hopefully soon.
Thanks for participating in our blogfest.

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:33 pm

      I think I've met Nancy… I have met Mary… and Rachel is homegrown! 🙂

  12. Msmariah on October 17, 2012 at 6:20 pm

Hi, cool blog. I'm really enjoying hopping around to other blogs. I wish I would have come up with the idea to post about more than one book.

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:38 pm

Thanks for visiting Msmariah! There were only 2 rules. There was no mention of limiting the post to 1 book. So I just took liberties and included 3… 🙂 Nice to meet you!

  13. Sherry Ellis on October 17, 2012 at 6:30 pm

Those are all great books! I've seen them mentioned on other blogs as well.

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 6:34 pm

Yep. I think that Nancy kicks off a blog tour soon, and Rachel has just done a cover reveal. Thanks Sherry.

  14. Jennifer S. Pitts on October 17, 2012 at 6:43 pm

Great picks! I should have read your blog first, and listed more than one book too. 😀

    • michelle on October 17, 2012 at 7:30 pm

I think that quite a few bloggers are thinking the same thing… 🙂

  15. Susan Gourley on October 17, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Great idea to pick different books for different reasons. Thanks for sharing.

  16. michelle on October 17, 2012 at 8:25 pm

    Thanks for popping in, Susan.

  17. Jemi Fraser on October 17, 2012 at 9:06 pm

I haven't seen Nancy's book before but I have the other 2 on my wishlist! Great choices 🙂

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:29 am

Isn't it a great cover… and title, of course? 🙂

  18. joylene on October 17, 2012 at 9:10 pm

You're right, Michelle, there aren't many suspense writers. So, I'm making a list and you and me are first. I'll get back to you if I find more.

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:32 am

Great idea! Though I'm wondering, would mystery/suspense stand alone or be lumped with the thriller genre as well?

  19. Nas on October 17, 2012 at 9:43 pm

Excellent picks. All these books sound great, thanks for the introduction!

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:32 am

      Thanks Nas!

  20. L. Diane Wolfe on October 17, 2012 at 10:54 pm

I'm looking forward to Nancy's book and still need to read M. Pax's.

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:33 am

I'm also excited about Nanc's book!

  21. Ciara Knight on October 17, 2012 at 11:18 pm

3rd mention of Rachel's books. Yay for M. Pax! Thompson is new to me. All great picks. Thanks for paticipating in DINYB Blog Fest.

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:35 am

It's difficult to ignore Rachel's book, with that stunning cover… and I noticed that Nancy is still busy on a book tour… thanks for hosting this awesome blogfest, Ciara!

  22. Erin Spock on October 17, 2012 at 11:53 pm

I do love the cover. Beautiful and not just like everyone elses. Yeah, I occasionally accidentally read sci-fi and enjoy it, but not enough to recommend anything. 🙂 The Mistaken does look intriguing.

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:37 am

"… accidentally read sci-fi and enjoy it…" That made me smile. 🙂 Hopefully, when I read it for the first time (which won't be accidentally), I'll enjoy it.   Thanks Erin.

  23. Trisha on October 18, 2012 at 1:23 am

I love Rachel's CREEPY stories, though admittedly I've only read one of them so far!
Also read M Pax's BACKWORLDS #1 and loved it! I have not read the third book featured here, but I've added it to my TBR 😉

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:38 am

I've seen the CREEPY covers – they are great! Thanks Trisha!

  24. Tyrean on October 18, 2012 at 2:18 am

    Nice choices!

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:39 am

      Thanks Tyrean! 🙂

  25. Lynn Kelley on October 18, 2012 at 4:11 am

The Mistaken does sound like a good read, just from the title and the cover. I have The Backworlds on my TBR list. This is the third site I've seen The Faerie Guardian on in this blog hop, and I agree that's a gorgeous cover!

    • michelle on October 18, 2012 at 7:41 am

I'm glad that I included three books instead of one. Variety is always good. Thanks Lynn!

  26. Rose on October 18, 2012 at 1:58 pm

I've heard of two of those books- thanks for sharing them! I'll have to check them out.

  27. michelle on October 18, 2012 at 5:43 pm

    Enjoy! 🙂

  28. Cynthia on October 18, 2012 at 9:59 pm

Yes, the cover is the first thing that captured my attention! It's stunning!

I've come across so many interesting books during this bloghop… it's been a great experience.

  31. Julie on October 20, 2012 at 2:43 am

I think you've chosen three winners Michelle! Wish that I could read three times as fast!

    • michelle on October 21, 2012 at 10:52 pm

I know what you mean! I can't read as fast as I used to… *sighs*

  32. Medeia Sharif on October 20, 2012 at 4:31 am

I recognize all the names. 🙂 It's cool you featured these bloggers' books. I'd like to read them all.

    • michelle on October 21, 2012 at 10:53 pm

🙂 I also want to read them all… especially Nancy's book…. it sounds like a winner!

  33. Misha on October 21, 2012 at 2:16 pm

Great picks. I'm one of M Pax's crit partners, and I LOVED The Backworlds when I worked on it. 🙂

    • michelle on October 21, 2012 at 10:54 pm

That must have been an awesome experience! I still have to find myself crit partners… 🙂
