A stoic silence permeated the room . Six pens poised above their documents in thoughtful contemplation . The sporadic action of my unseen hands , clenching and unclenching , the only outward indication of my inner state . I sat upright and calm , seemingly poised and confident before the jury who were about to deliver the verdict … seal my fate … The sensation in the pit of my stomach persisted . A feeble attempt to clear a dry , scratchy throat cut the atmosphere . An interminable moment passed . Finally … six pairs of eyes cast a cursory glance in my direction . The head of the committee opened his mouth to speak …

I remember the time my friends asked me to accompany them to the Canadian Idol auditions. Since I was there, I decided to try out (and chose my songs in the waiting line.) I can imagine the feeling ~ I’ve read many many blog posts that talk about it … the anxiety … the waiting … the dread … I have yet to experience it … one day … hopefully in the not-too-distant-future … 🙂
