Bluebell SSS Prompt No. 10 ~ Drama In Ducksburg
The town was in a tizz as the great drama unfolded . Every creature had heard the news . Donald Duck had been chosen . He was a finalist in the Annual Photo Challenge . Everybody knew the purple camera . It accompanied him everywhere . He was never without it . The animals and creatures gathered around , whispering amongst themselves . They all wanted to be a part of this historic event . They all wanted to be in the "Final Snapshot" , the one that would transport their town to fame and fortune . The winning photo would be featured in the Ducksburg Gazette , which was a popular newspaper .
"I wonder what Donald is going to do ," the deer thought about it .
"I am the obvious choice ," Lady Dragonfly flitted from flower to flower . "I am colourful , beautiful , dainty and as pretty as can be ."
"Dainty and pretty and as lazy as can be ," echoed the ant . That started the argument . Eventually all the animals and creatures joined in , causing quite a din .
"Be quiet ! All of you ! I have made my decision ." His angry voice cut through their squabbles . They all waited , expectant faces .
"I've chosen the cow !" The creatures were dumb-founded . They could not believe it .
"Did somebody call my name ?" The sleepy cow lifted his head , eyes still drooping . Every head turned to look at him , standing next to the brown-and-red-dotted toadstool , grinning stupidly .
" Are you serious ? Look at him , he's more dead than alive ! You need somebody with more … oooomph … more pizzaz … with a spring in his step … somebody like 'moi' ," the rabbit gave a low curtsey .
"Did I hear my name ?" repeated the cow , grinning in a daze .
"See what he means ?" the deer blurted . "The cow is on his own planet ! He doesn't know what is going on !"
"I've made my decision and it is final !" Donald Duck refused to give in . A sudden scuffle broke out between the twin squirrels who had debated this topic for two days . Donald tried to calm them . All the others joined in the argument again . Sammy squirrel stuck his tongue out at Sandy squirrel , who was perched atop the duck's hat , holding on for dear life .
Donald stumbled backwards , lost his balance and the camera went flying . Up , up , up into the air … spinning and twirling like a top … and then down , down , down it came towards the earth , and fell ~~ SPLOSH ! into the river behind . The last thing that they saw was flashes of purple in the water as the current moved downstream …
There was complete silence .
Goodbye "Final Snapshot" !
Goodbye Ducksburg Gazette !
Goodbye fame and fortune !

Glad to have kept your attention throughout the story ! Hope it would do the same for little ones … 🙂
Mish, I LOVE how the unassuming cow, so productive and modest, was chosen… it's a good lesson in humility. This was really quite the deep story! Amy

MMMM mmmm … I think the only thing I would change is – him- to – her – as I believe cows are female. I think …!!!????
This is such a GREAT story. I loved every bit of it. So cute and entertaining. I think any child would sit quietly and listen just to see what happens. Excellent ending and good lessons on humility.
Congrats on using the prompt superbly,

Think you’re right about cows being female … thanks for your lovely comments !
sad, yet sweet.
your words are making the story very visual, real, and believeable!
That’s a great response – glad that the story “came alive” for you !
At least the cow doesn't yell and scream and give him a hard time! Better luck next year!
The quiet unassuming cow , instead of the popular loud-mouths , was singled out to be part of the “historic” moment – food for thought …
Excellent tale I enjoyed reading this very much 🙂
Thank you so much ! 🙂
LOL… oh my, poor Donald! 🙂
Poor Donald indeed … 🙂 goodbye to all their dreams of fame and fortune !
