Five Sentence Fiction #19 – CHARACTER

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week the hostess will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction

The simple retrousse nose hinted at high-handedness, a notion which was quickly disregarded, due to her obvious popularity, and easy-going chatter-box nature.

An endearing gap in the upper front set of pearlies, as she unleashed her you-snooze-you-lose philosophy on the world, accompanied by constant gestures and animated facial expressions, dispelled any lingering doubt.

In a verbal challenge, she seldom conceded defeat.

Pure logic prevailed and the comeback retort was swift and lethal.

She always had the final word.

Deceptive, isn’t she!? I like your insight.

Deceptive is good… isn't it? Wouldn't want her to be too predictable, agreed? 🙂

Oh how I always love your powerful female characters!  Great line about her "endearing gap!"

    • michelle on November 15, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Thanks Julie. I tried to incorporate something different…an unexpected character trait or physical attribute. I wasn't certain about the combination… but it seems okay.

I'm thinking that the last sentence in my piece is unnecessary… ? 🙂 Thanks Nas.

This is so well written — I could picture the character perfectly, and I'm so impressed with your use of imagery to describe her! 😀
