Five Sentence Fiction #6 – MEDICINE
What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week the hostess will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.
She opted for the age-old remedy.
Emptying the contents into a glass, she lapsed into a semi absent-minded contemplation, swirled the liquid round and round, watched the powder dissolve…
It was a curative and restorative combination alright, designed to cure the nagging problem and restore sanity.
This was the panacea for all her ills.
A soft click of the door, and the spine-chilling drawl that haunted her every waking and sleeping moment, had the power to reduce her to a mass of quivering jelly, was delivered on cue: "Fix me a drink, would you darling, and make yourself comfortable…"
Hmmm. A bit creepy.
Perfect response. Thanks Mary.
that was superb!
the opening to a murder!
Thanks TTT! I love your enthusiasm… 🙂
I get a sinking feeling after reading this . . .
Powerful five sentences!
I'm glad you were affected in this way… thanks Golden Eagle!
I know this is creepy and all, but that actually got me all kinds of excited to read on. At first I was afraid you where going to have her drink it…glad I was wrong!

Thanks Jenna! I loved your magical take on the prompt… 🙂
Well done.
Thanks Shelly. I've been thinking about you… hope you are well…
I have a morbid curiosity about the character behind the drawl that reduces her to jelly. This keeps me on the edge waiting for more. . .
… well, on the edge and waiting for more is a good thing! Thanks for the visit, Tara 🙂
I LIKE it. I love the mystery around it.
Ah, that makes me happy! Thanks Teresa.

THat's interesting…was it for him or for her, i wonder. Well done piece, Michelle. I would love to know more.
After putting up with him for so long, I would imagine she's not going to give up so easily… that's all I'm going to say… 🙂
Wonderful, Michelle! I thought she was ill until that last paragraph, but that sinister twist really packed a punch! I want to see this bully get his comeuppance now! 🙂
Thanks Catherine. 🙂 He'll get what's coming to him…
Very well done, you built suspense and mystery into a very short piece.
Thank you for the visit and comment, Merry Wanderer.
This is where the guy gets it! Nice twist there.
Yes, he's in for a nasty shock!
I have a very bad feeling about this. . . this creepy guy(assumption) making her feel like this is creating all sorts of scenerios in my mind. . .I do need more to find out what happens!!
Your bad feeling is spot on… and there are a million different ways in which this could play out… he!he! Thanks for the visit, Lizzie!
Very mysterious. Glad he's getting his comeuppance. Obviously he deserves it. Nice take on the prompt.
Thanks. It reminds me of the saying: What goes around, comes around… like a boomerang effect…
Yup, my skin crawled with your final sentence…hope they get all that's coming to them!
Thanks Lisa. Your response to the piece has made my day! Remember, whatever you put out into the universe comes back to you…
Hi Michelle, loved the Five sentence fiction. You managed to say so much in so few words.
Thanks Rachna!
Very mysterious and creepy! I am excited to learn more! Nice work!
I'm glad the story provided some excitement, Stephanie. Thanks for popping in!
Great pacing and tone, with a perfect delivery of those last two paragraphs. Weirdly enough, it reminded me of an episode of Perry Mason I watched this weekend where a woman wants to poison her overbearing, judgmental uncle (I know — who references Perry Mason?). Anyway, great job!
Thanks Brian. I promise you that Perry Mason (who is he?) didn't enter my mind when I wrote the piece. LOL.
Oh man! Super, Michelle. Like I said, here again is your excellent voice coming through loud and clear, my friend. I would most definitely read on. *waves peace sign*
Thank you for the wonderful comment, Robyn! I value your concrit… 🙂
