Five Sentence Fiction #15 – ZOMBIE

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week the hostess will post a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

It seeped in… crept into every pore of her being; a virus invading a host and multiplying a thousand times; spreading, until it eventually filled her every waking moment.

It was a mental, physical and emotional saturation, like a wet sponge, soaked and heavy, unable to suck up another drop of liquid.

The empty spaces of her existence were no more.

It whispered to her from every corner, crevice, nook and cranny; she could not escape its pull, its power, its passion.

She surrendered… it was a welcome relief… allowed the madness to occupy every facet of her life, and the transformation was complete.

I totally enjoyed this, M. Very smoothly written and absorbing. Her helplessness and then her release come through powerfully. I especially like the line “The empty spaces of her existence were no more.” Great stuff, as usual!

Love this idea! Reminds me of Hemingway's six word stories. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. It's great to meet you!

"… a virus invading a host and mulitplying a thousand times…"   That gave me chills.   Excellent description of the transformation from human to no more.   Bravo, Michelle!

Though these sentences gave me few goosebumps, I really enjoyed them. It had a sinister, a evil tinge too it, which I liked a lot.

    Michele:
Excllent piece. I bet it would hurt turning into a zombie and scary, too.

I remember when I first saw this sign after someone had hacked it – awesome prank!
And I loved your take on the first person experience of a person being consumed by the zombie virus.

I probably shouldn't be reading this at bedtime!  "The empty spaces of her existence were no more."  Just one of five thought provoking images. Masterfully written!
