H is for Handscroll – Writer In Transit

H is for Handscroll

Hurrah! It's H-Day. Hang in there! Have hope. Humour helps. Hostility hampers healthy progress. Ask for help. No heart attacks please. I have a hunch that hundreds of hearts are harbouring heaps of happiness which is heating up the blogosphere. Hasta la vista.

Ever wondered what books would say if they had the chance to express themselves/air their views?

Well, you are about to find out!

All illustrations are by the talented Mary-An. Check out her website HERE

And now you get to play along! What do YOU think the handscroll wants to tell us? Post it in the comment section below. Have fun!

At the end of the challenge, between 02nd and 05th of May, I'm going to announce my favourite "book comment" which will be the one that resonates with me the most!

A REMINDER: the IWSG site will have a corresponding post for each letter/day of the A to Z Challenge so do stop by.

On the Facebook page, a thread will be started for the "letter of the day" and we'd LOVE you to share your A to Z post links on the daily thread – this saves YOU time scrolling through links on the master A to Z sign-up list, especially since people post at different times… some MAY skip letters… dead links etc.

One last thing – don't forget to visit those who stop by your blog!

"Could you blot your sweaty palms before rolling me up, please. Kinda damp here…"

I am made of beautiful, thick, creamy paper so you can only write on me with a nice pen. No, don't write your grocery list on me, I am worth much more than that. Yes you may write a poem. No, it cannot be naughty – I am the handscroll, I am the best of all writing mediums! RESPECT ME!!

(Got a bit carried away there – that was fun. This is why when I buy nice new stationary I often spend months frozen in indecision, unable to face the pressure of writing something worthy of the paper I will be setting it down on…)

Take care of me. I can’t be easily replaced if something bad happens to me.

Think before you put your stylus on my parchment, please. No white out. No delete button.

"I may be out of fashion, but no one has to stitch me together. Organic, baby. That's what I am."

    "Be kind, rewind."

I love scrolls! (Other than the wind and rewinding part.)

Great things have come from me and after me, but I can always be rolled, you'll break the spine of a book if you try to roll it and you'll just break all the techno reading gadget if you try to roll them, but I will roll on forever.

Hi Michelle – well I would be shiny and slinky .. and I'd have some feelings – if you could take me out this square box thing, I've been flattened .. but it works the same way .. you need to feel me to find out my shiny silk finish .. unpack me and take me back 50 years or so ..

    Cheers Hilary

If you bend one more of my corners, I swear I'm gunna whack you upside the head with a whopping thud! Dare me! Go ahead–dare me!
