The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#24
Yes, it's that time again. It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. The group posts the first Wednesday of every month. You are encouraged to visit at least a dozen new blogs and leave a comment. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs.
But wait a minute, I've decided to do something different for this last IWSG post of the year, something fun!
So here goes…………
TA-DA! BOOKS RULE!
Care to join in the fun? Provide a caption for the illustration. Or tell us the first thing that popped into your mind? Or what's on the mind of that poor book above? Or just say hello. Or wave as you pop in and out…
Please share in the comments below… (P.S. Nothing has changed. I'm an insecure writer having some fun! That's all!)
It's competition time! Help get the word out about the IWSG and its benefits to writers, and you stand a chance of winning one of two prizes in the latest IWSG contest, hosted over at the website. Grab the badge below when you're ready to post about the giveaway.
Our awesome co-hosts for this month are Julie Flanders, Heather Gardner, Kim Van Sickler, and Elsie is Writing. Please be sure to stop by their blogs and thank them for their time and effort.
I'm off to do some visiting… and you should do the same!
Books rule! If you dare, tell me different!
Have fun hopping!
Yay for IWSG! I totally am miserable at the caption thing, but the first thing that popped into my head was that the world reminds me of one of those giant beach balls. I think the book is having a good time π (Um, I don't think my coffee has hit my brain yet…)
Looks like the book has captured the world.
Caption time!
Who's up for some volleyball?
That's the best caption. Books totally rule!
Books control the world… sometimes evilly, other times with devine outcomes. Read them to see which prevails.
I love the Books Rule caption. Fun!
And the IWSG contest is exciting, great idea.
Okay. Too fun. I'm not good at captions, though I love them, so I'll spare you. π
Ooooh I like it, "Books rule!"
Here is my caption: "My world revolves around books." π
I'm voting for the Books Rule! My mind is fuzzy and I can't come up with anything better. Thanks for something different though!
Joy, nobody dare question that! I'll not be held responsible for the repercussion if someone dares to go against that… LOL
Meradeth, that's okay… you could be absolutely spot on; hey, it could be that the book is having a good time trying to "shake some sense into the world" π The world needs to be shaken! By books!
L.Diane, the human race will get to that point… hopefully… we can hope, wish and pray, can't we?
Alex, playful book? I like it!
Mina B, they sure do!
Nancy LaRonda, ah, an interesting train of thought; but so true.
Julie Flanders, yep, the contest is a great idea… it's gonna be fun too.
Donna, don't spare me… it's okay, I can take anything thrown my way… π
S.Katherine, that caption is so real for readers/writers who cannot do without books… π
Charity, no worries… I understand the fuzzy wuzzy mind thing…
Caption:
Readers hold the world in their hands.
What an adorable drawing, illustrating a very true and important to remember fact! Thanks for being one of the biggest supporters around, Michelle! You rock!
Book Atlas! I'm hopping around.
Hey Hey! Let us have some fun today at IWSG Pages!!!
That is what i first thought by seeing the pic. LOL
Very interesting and a typical post for the day
Keep inform
Best regards
Philip
Love the idea for the captions!
Let's see … how about: "Books hold the world within their pages!"
I can't think of a caption, but it could be a good logo for an international book club. Cool idea.
I got World Atlas at first glance, but for a caption, "I'll show YOU world-building!"
(Love stuff like this)
Imagination rules the world!
"Be a travel writer!"
I had no idea there's no a contest. *rushes off to check out rules*
Robin, readers sure do! Readers are leaders!
Bev Fox, you're welcome Bev! thanks! π
Cathrina, Book Atlas? That is cool…
Philip, fun is the keyword… thanks for your visit.
Cherie, I LOVE it! Plus it's true!
Sydney, ah, a logo… very interesting thought… fits perfectly too!
Hart, LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I should have offered a prize for the best one, but on the other hand, it would have been very difficult to choose just one… π
Tyrean, this is ab-fab! And I agree!
Sam, imagine landing that job??? OMG. Writing and seeing the world? Like a two-for-the-price-of-one kinda deal? Can it get better?
Stina, yep, there's a contest———-
I'm just going to wave hello! These captions are so good, I can't complete. I like the world building one especially. Books holding the world between their pages? That's pretty awesome too.
Caption: "This'll wipe that smirk off your face, Mr Moon."
(Alex's caption is hysterical!!)
LOVE the book dude holiding up the world! Books do have power! And can change amyone for life.
Hi, Michelle…. Waves enthusiatically…. SO happy to drop by your blog. I've missed you. Leaving the country for three weeks certainly makes one miss out on SO MUCH in our crazy and never sleeping blogosphere!
Editor says: Whatcha got for me today?
Writer says: A few words.
Editor: Are they good?
Writer: Sure.
Editor: Give 'em to me then.
Writer: Can't.
Editor: How come?
Writer: World's holding me up.
Giggling, but yeah, kind of a lengthy caption..LOL
P.S. Did you notice I'm terrible with captions and that I don't follow rules?
"Look at what I caught, Mom!"
"The World is Mine!!" Yeah…couldn't stop myself. ^_^
Kimberly G, hello *waves* good to hear from you again! π
Lexa, Mr. Moon has been "sidelined" by a book? Ha! *hee hee*
Michael Di G, I'm so glad that you popped in! Hope you are well rested after your 3 week adventure… I'm sure it was a blast?!
C. Lee, you are PRICELESS! and TOO CUTE! Love the dialogue! You win my non-existent prize. For sure!
Lynda, what a great idea… what comes to mind is the power of innocence… young book showing mum how it's done… π
Krystal, as in Ice Cube? …… the world is mine so step back——— I like the idea of the book threatening to take over! Works for me… π
Damn! Could you please delete the 2 previous posts – not sure what went wrong LOL Anyhow, lovely idea, my first thoughts were "I won!!!" x
Love this contribution to the IWSG. π
How about this: "Take that cruel world! I don't need you, for I shall create my own worlds."?
"Don't come any closer! I've got the earth and I'm not afraid to use it!"
π
What fun. Books Rule for sure !
"I own the world Mama,"
Love that pic! Makes me think how we can be anywhere in the world when we read a book. And I love Nicki Elston's caption!! You know it!
Fuzzy wuzzy made me immediately think timey wimey. π
IWSG aka I Was Seeking Gary. Thank you for this, Michelle. I read a book and I always planet this way…..
Gary π
The Wonderful World of Books….The drawing made me smile. Fun reading all the clever comments. What a great bunch of folks here. And what a great idea for a blog post. Thank you.
I love your picture of the book bearing the weight of the world – not on his shoulders, but still, somewhere on him π
Darn. JL wrote my answer before I could. Yes, books rule!
Um, the pen is mightier than the globe.
I'm sorry. That's what popped into my head.
Caption: "Anyone up for a game of Volleyball?" (Or soccer.) LOL! Of course, books dominating the world, that would make me immensely happy.
Books hold the world up. Or they make the world go round. =D
suzanne, it DOES convey victory!
Nicki, I like your cheeky, defiant caption. π
David, yes, I like the warning issued by Mr. Book, and the idea of books using the earth… to change it for the better. π
Denise, thank you for popping in and hope you're having a lovely holiday!
Rachna, if books owned the world, then it would definitely be a better place!
PK, yes, that's a great perspective… LOCATION + BOOK = BLISS. π
Charity, I love your cutie-tootie response… *giggles*
Gary, ha! Now I'm lost for words… π
JQ, we need some feel-good moments to take our minds off writing… de-stress… and IWSG'ers are wonderful people. π
Trisha, a book can "take whatever the world throws at it"… and still stand strong… π
Diana, yes, you can second that!!
LD Masterson, I LOVE IT! Your words are one of the four winning captions of my non-existent prize!
Crystal, ah, me too… books can take over… anyday!
Patricia, books definitely do a good job of holding the world up, though it should be the other way around, don't you think??
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL COMMENTS AND FOR PLAYING ALONG AND LEAVING A CAPTION!
The winner of my non-existent prize is: C.LEE McKENZIE! π π
The three runners up are, in no particular order: HART JOHNSON, LEXA CAIN & LD MASTERSON.
Caption: And once again Mr. Book lifts the world. Yay."
Ooh, I should have spared you, but it was my first thought.
Hi Michelle!
"Books Rule the World" popped into my mind.
