The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#4

For this instalment of my IWSG hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh, I am sharing a 3-pointer pledge.

I WILL STOP AGONISING OVER THE FOLLOWING:

1. What Mr. A & Mrs. B are going to think if I fail to reach goal X and goal Y by a certain date.

2. Explaining my writing to people who don't understand – I'm not gonna sweat it… that's just the way it is!

3. "Sucking" at writing – it's the norm and will keep me on my toes and prevent complacency and stagnation.

So there you have it! Short and to the point!

I like short and to the point! Yeah, can't explain it to non-writers.

Excellent goals, ones we should all think about 🙂

I  am still learning to wear the writer's robe, it keeps falling, is faded and darned in places too. Good luck with your goals.

    @Alex ~ short & to the point… has more impact… it slams!

@Sarah ~ I suppose we're all guilty of one of these at different times…

@Rek ~ my writer's robe doesn't even fit properly… lots of alterations to be done…

Aww, that's so sweet of you 🙂 Actually, you've been a great inspiration to me over the past months… so it's definitely a give-and-take… THANKS!

Those are some great goals. I think #3 applies to me most. It seems like I'm always revising and finding things to say in a different way.

    I think we all have our no#3 moments… 🙂 You're not alone…

I love it.  And my take/spin off to #3?  Don't tell yourself you suck.  Maybe you do suck.  But if you don't believe in your work, then who will? If you wite for you, then the rest will follow… or at least that's what I hear  🙂  Best of luck to everyone on their journey!!

Thanks Kaye! When I use the word "suck", I mean it in the nicest possible way… 🙂 (does that make sense?) It's like saying, come on, I know that I can do so much better…

But you're so right when you say that I must write for me…

I hear that!  Definitely not explaining it to anyone else.  I also hate when people who don't read the genre I write ask what I'm writing about, because it will involve a long drawn out explanation if I bother.  I tend to change how I explain it depending on who I'm talking to.

I also hate it when people give you that blank-look response or the strange-look response…. aarrrgh, it annoys me! Another classic response is: oh, when did this happen?

It sort of sounds like something my mother told me a long time ago. : ) Don't worry about what others think, you do what you feel your heart is saying. If you fall you get back up, brush off your knees and keep going.

Your mother is one smart lady! 🙂 Perseverance is what it's all about – never give up!
