The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#51

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.

My IWSG post coincides with an awesome bloghop.

Blah blah blog hop

Thank you to the awesome hostesses Christine RainsC. Lee McKenzie, and Tara Tyler who are hosting this MEME Blog Hop! They want to help chase away the winter blues with some Encouraging, Inspiring, and Funny MEMEs! Join us the week of Feb 29 – Mar 4!

Easy Peasy “rules”

  1. Post a MEME during the week (use your own pic or an easy meme maker app) – and if you can’t think of anything, pass on encouraging words from one of your reviews, or an inspiring quote! (I’m techno-challenged so it’s dangerous to encourage me to make a meme…)
  2. Visit others. (I can do this!!)
  3. That’s it! (YAY!)

Then the awesome hostesses will hop around and Ooo and Ahh and choose one entry each to win an ebook. AND two lucky random participants will win a $20 GC. Enter and spread some warmth!

This is my attempt to inspire, encourage and amuse!

As a creative being, and especially with regards to my writing journey, this is my daily mantra:onwards & upwards...

Bettering myself includes writing something daily, even if it’s one sentence! But creativity is a fickle beast. Quite often the muse has plans of her own, like attending the Annual International Muse Convention. Or she’s just lazy and refuses to budge. I know writers have different ways of luring the muse. Some bribe her with wine. Some promise chocolates. Some bombard her with music and meditation. But still she refuses to budge. Then what? In times like this, I have to remind myself that:

Masterpiece & WIP

How reassuring is that?

I’m human after all…and life happens…and it’s okay not being perfect…

So in this state of I’m-not-perfect-and-always-in-control-but-it’s-okay-to-not-be-perfect-as-long-as-I’m-always-me, I’m signing off with this…

shenanigans

*no memes were harmed in the making of this post*

Want to know more about the shenanigans? It involves the following…take a look…

art therapy

ADULT COLOURING BOOK! YAY!

I’m always the one who is coloring with the children. Now I have my OWN book. Maybe I’ll get the muse to budge…

You can still get in on the action and join the blog hop! Just click on the badge.

I’ll visit all the IWSGers on Wednesday!

HAPPY LEAP DAY! OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, I’LL BE LEAPING AROUND TO OTHER BLOGS…

    The second one is beautiful.

I have a couple Minion coloring books but they’re supposed to be for kids.

  2. Alex J. Cavanaugh on February 29, 2016 at 1:48 pm

I have a bunch of coloring books. I keep telling myself I’m going to get back into it but… no buts, I must DO.

I’m all for going to the Shenanigans, I hear here they throw a great party! 🙂

Hi Michelle – love the thoughts here … I get inspired and creative … and wonderful colours for our brains to absorb … enjoy yourself – cheers Hilary

  5. Tamara Narayan on February 29, 2016 at 2:06 pm

I’m seeing adult coloring books everywhere these days. The designs are out-of-this world but I can’t imagine sitting down to actually complete one of these intricate pictures. However, if my kids were still at the coloring book age, I would totally get one.

  6. Christine Rains on February 29, 2016 at 2:08 pm

Love those memes! Thank you for participating. I especially like the one about being a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time. 🙂 Have a great week!

I like the idea that we can be both a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time.

  14. J.H. Moncrieff on March 1, 2016 at 5:37 pm

I still haven’t cracked my new adult colouring book yet! I should have spent last week working on it, when I was down with a nasty cold.

    Have fun. 🙂

  15. Sherry Ellis on March 1, 2016 at 6:12 pm

I really like those first two memes. Excellent quotes!

Adult colouring is all the rage. Hope it gets some ideas flowing for you. I’m not taking part in the meme hop but looking forward to seeing some fun ones!

  20. Angela Wooldridge on March 2, 2016 at 10:21 am

Love your memes, especially the WIP and shenanigans ones 🙂
I won’t hold you up – if you’re visiting everyone today you’re gonna be busy!

  21. Elizabeth Hein on March 2, 2016 at 10:31 am

Your memes are great. You seem to have mastered the technology bit to create something wonderful.

  22. Denise Covey on March 2, 2016 at 11:45 am

Hi Michelle! Love the meme. I’ll never forget the ‘Darling’ meme you posted on my fb page after reading my novella. Words can mean so much! Have a great month!

  23. Cathrina on March 2, 2016 at 1:06 pm

Michelle, thank you for inspiring me and giving me a smile!!!

  24. Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor on March 2, 2016 at 1:30 pm

    Great memes!

I bribe my inner creativity with both wine and chocolate and the greedy beast demands cookies on top of all that before she’ll come out to play 🙂

  25. Crystal Collier on March 2, 2016 at 1:43 pm

Yay! We need all the encouragement we can get, eh? Thankfully I have a household full of people who both encourage and make it impossible to get anything done, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Life is full. Life is good. Life can only get better, eh?

  26. Donna B. McNicol [@dbmcnicol] on March 2, 2016 at 5:22 pm

You continue to amaze, inspire and spread hope, smiles and laughter. Thank you! 😉

  27. Southpaw HR Sinclair on March 2, 2016 at 6:34 pm

ooo ooo my muse is at the conference right now!

  28. Michelle on March 2, 2016 at 7:16 pm

The memes are great, especially the second one.

    Also, shenanigans.

  29. Loni Townsend on March 2, 2016 at 9:19 pm

You always have such encouraging stuff to share. You rocked the memes!

  30. Lynda R Young on March 2, 2016 at 11:32 pm

I love it. And shenanigans are awesome 😉
I’m rather taken by the adult coloring books too. I use an app, though. Usually for while I’m watching tv.

  31. Doreen McGettigan on March 3, 2016 at 12:46 am

I love my coloring books and it does help to relax me and when I’m relaxed I am a better writer, sometimes. Other times I really need the hard deadline to get me sitting down and getting the words out.
    I love the quotes!

  32. dSavannah on March 3, 2016 at 4:10 am

I wonder where my muse is getting the funds for conventions? 🙂

  33. Medeia Sharif on March 3, 2016 at 10:52 am

Great memes. I am better myself and seeing oneself as a work in progress and masterpiece is wonderful. I don’t have an adult coloring book, but someone mentioned getting me one.

  34. LX Cain on March 3, 2016 at 12:13 pm

I laughed out loud at the Masterpiece and simultaneous work-in-progress one. One can never be perfect, but we are each our perfect individual selves. Great post! 🙂

  35. WriterlySam on March 3, 2016 at 3:29 pm

LOL! I enjoyed your meme selection immensely! My Muse has been playing hard to get since New Years. I think she’s binge watching Downton Abbey *wink*

  36. Lisa Buie-Collard on March 3, 2016 at 3:41 pm

I love the Masterpiece and work in progress one the best! So appropriate! Have fun with your blog hop and thanks for dropping by!

  37. Mary Aalgaard on March 3, 2016 at 3:53 pm

Excellent post. I pinned your meme. Love it. I also love the masterpiece/work-in-progress one. Aren’t we all. There’s a children’s Sunday School song about that called “He’s still working on me.”
    Go. Create. Inspire!

  38. joylene on March 3, 2016 at 5:28 pm

I love colouring too! Life can be very complicated and stressful. The fact you’re being kind to yourself is a good thing. I meditate. But I haven’t in months. Is that a good thing? Might mean I’m too busy or too content to remember. Not sure. LOL.

  39. Julie Flanders on March 4, 2016 at 12:07 am

I love the masterpiece and work in progress. I sometimes forget that it’s okay to still be a WIP ourselves.
Love all the memes and the shenanigans cracked me up. 😀

  40. Shannon Lawrence on March 4, 2016 at 6:53 am

Enjoy the shenanigans! Great choices of memes. I am definitely a work in progress, but I’d like to think I’m a masterpiece in some way, too.

  41. Heather M. Gardner on March 4, 2016 at 7:56 pm

    These are perfect!
Great job mixing the two events!

    Heather

  42. Tyrean on March 4, 2016 at 11:13 pm

    Love the shenanigans meme!
I think I’m definitely in the work-in-progress, hoping to be a masterpiece place.
    Happy art-ing!

  43. Lidy on March 5, 2016 at 8:07 pm

Love the quote about being a master piece and a work in progress. Good luck budging your muse.

  44. Jess@Fairday's Blog on March 6, 2016 at 5:21 pm

These memes are very inspiring. I especially love the work of art one because we can appreciate it in nature, but often not in ourselves. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  45. J.L. Campbell on March 6, 2016 at 6:17 pm

Love that quote about bettering myself. So stealing it. 🙂
I know I’d enjoy adult colouring books. Have fun!

  46. Misha on March 7, 2016 at 9:58 am

Part of me wants to buy a coloring book, but another part realizes that I might never do anything else, so I resist temptation. 😉

Good use of memes. I like the idea of being a work in progress and masterpiece at the same time.

  47. Toi Thomas on March 7, 2016 at 3:15 pm

Thanks for stopping by my blog. This is a cool blog hop here. Wish I’d been on time to discover it sooner. I like these memes. As for coloring therapy, yes. I’ve always partaken, but it is nice to not have to color in the kid books anymore. 😉

  48. Annalisa Crawford on March 9, 2016 at 12:34 pm

Me too, I want to attend the shenanigans 🙂

  49. Victoria Marie Lees on March 9, 2016 at 7:31 pm

I like the visual picture of the first one. If we first learn to better ourselves, the world could be a better place because of it. I’ve enjoyed connecting to other bloggers from the recent blog hop. I’ll be back.

  50. Emily Rittel-King on March 10, 2016 at 5:22 am

I love the “you’re allowed to be a masterpiece and a work in progress.” Why does one seem mutually exclusive to the other? But they aren’t. Not really. Because no masterpiece got there by accident and we’re never really done growing.
I love all of these uplifting thoughts, Michelle!
