The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#55
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.
The awesome co-hosts for the July 06th posting of the IWSG are: Yolanda Renee, Tyrean Martinson, Madeline Mora-Summonte , LK Hill, Rachna Chhabria, and JA Scott! Don’t forget to visit them and thank them for co-hosting.
Our Twitter hashtag is #IWSG.

As you can see, I keep a printed copy of the e-mail. This was a major boost to my confidence and cemented my love for flash fiction. If you’re interested in reading the piece, click HERE.
The next IWSG day is on August 03rd.
AUGUST 03rd QUESTION: What was your very first piece of writing as an aspiring writer? Where is it now? Collecting dust or has it been published?
Fantastic! An email acceptance like that would boost my ego every day. I read your flash fiction piece. Great and I loved your answers to the questions on the questionaire.

You are “the quintessential multi-colored individual.”
Loved the flash and that you have kept a copy of that review! I hope you pull it out often and the essence of inspiration from always over powers the negativity of this occupation! Congratulations!
Hi Michelle, an email acceptance like that will make my day. I wish we writers get such lovely letters everyday, and not just from editors but also from agents 🙂

Fantastic compliment!!!! To have someone burst out laughing is the ultimate compliment!!! And then to have it published is over the top!!!
Those types of acceptances are so awesome. Yes, save those for the rare days when we feel defeated and deflated. I have a newspaper article from an open-mike comedy night I did long, long ago. Having the nice words keeps the energy alive.
Words have power. Let them feed you everyday. 🙂

Congratulations! An acceptance and a great compliment. You rock.
What a fabulous email! Definitely a keeper 🙂
Love that acceptance letter! Too funny. 🙂
Looking forward to hearing the voting results for the anthology!
I LOVE it. That’s an epic compliment and a half. Way to keep that thing. You should frame it and keep it next to your writing space, eh?
Love that e-mail! That’s so awesome and definitely deserved.
Happy IWSG day!
I like that piece! I can relate to the image of the short and squat library monitor 🙂
Hi, Michelle,
WELL DONE! Love seeing that printed acceptance. A total moral booster for sure!
Congratulations on that acceptance! It made me smile to read it. You are so great at flash fiction that I’m not surprised by the magazine editor’s response.
Love the new interactive question feature! You guys rock.
Congrats, Michelle! You need to frame that email.
That’s such an awesome email, Michelle! Congrats! I’m loving reading everyone’s compliments and accomplishments today. It was a great theme.
My first piece of “serious” writing was a story about vampires that was published in the local paper when I was in Grade Four. Sadly, Anne Rice I’m not. 🙂
Love that acceptance letter. Brilliant 🙂
I love how the best comments come along when we need them most. Yours is awesome!
Hey Michelle! That is AWESOME! Thanks for sharing with us! And so many exciting things happening at IWSG! Have a great month! 🙂
That’s an amazing email to receive!
Great message from the editor! I read the flash piece, and love the way you did your own take on how opposites attract!
What a wonderful acceptance email!! I love that you printed it. It’s important to look back at those successes.
WOW!! What a great email. You must brim with pride everytime you read it 🙂 Have a lovely new month. Happy writing!
I voted! Looking forward to the next addituon.
Sadly my first piece of writing, my first attempt at a novel, is gathering or should I say buried in dust. It’s been on my mind lately, nudging me. I still love the idea so you never know.
Great compliment. That certainly does boost confidence! Woot!
That’s a great comment. I love that you printed it out.
How wonderful! That was a great response to your work! I know you were thrilled to receive it! Good for you for keeping the email printed and referring to it any time you need a pick-me-up. I know I would have read that email over and over again grinning from ear to ear every time if it were mine. 🙂
It’s easy to make someone cry, but to make someone burst out laughing? That’s hard. What a wonderful compliment on your writing!
Frame it! Frame it! Congrats hugs.
How lovely to get a compliment like that. It’s good to have that printout as a reminder, and yes I do think framing it is a great idea. Congratulations.
I printed out copies my my acceptance emails for my first flash fiction pieces, too! 😀
I keep printed copies, too! Actually, I keep both the acceptance and any rejections I got for the story. I stick them in a binder, acceptance in the front, rejections stuffed behind it. To make someone burst out laughing is quite the compliment!
What a great acceptance email, Michelle! Congratulations. I read, Blast from the Past. Terrific. The ending IS great.
Having someone wanting to publish your work is wonderful. You must have been on such a high. You deserved that compliment. You are a very good writer, Michelle.
By the way, just read Nail Polish stories and thought yours were awesome!
I love when a person gets what you’re writing, and it sounds like they did. What a great compliment!
It’s great that you’ve printed and kept the copy of the email. Definitely a compliment worth framing.
That’s a wonderful acceptance letter. I like the IWSG question. Now I’ll never struggle writing a post.
It’s not just the fact that your piece was accepted – that note is very friendly and spirited. It feels like he’s giving you a virtual hug.
On a different note, I linked to you at my blog today.
Smiles.
Be well!
