The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#92

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.

The awesome co-hosts for the August posting of the IWSG are:. Renee Scattergood, Sadira Stone, Jacqui Murray, Tamara Narayan, and LG Keltner!

Don’t forget to visit them and thank them for co-hosting!

Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!

JULY 07th QUESTION: Has your writing ever taken you by surprise? For example, a positive and belated response to a submission you’d forgotten about or an ending you never saw coming?

Sorry about the late post.
Last month my out-of-town stint included attending a self-publishing workshop. I learned SO MUCH about so many different aspects of self-pub. We were given a 53-page ‘do-it-yourself’ manual filled with instructions, tips, warnings and helpful resources, including dozens of links!
The workshop convenor showed us a power point for her digital dashboards: Amazon KDP Select and also Draft 2 Digital, and gave a ‘mock’ run through on these two platforms. That was highly informative!
I’m still processing all the information and it’s a constant learning process, keeping in mind that the industry shifts and changes every day.
I’ll post more about the workshop as I journey along.
Happy IWSG to everybody!

    Hi Michelle!
That’s what I’ve been up to for the last year or so. Learning the aspects of self-publishing. As you see, it’s a mammoth task. If you’e really going to go that way join the 20booksto50k FB group, I’ll send you an invite. The most helpful resource ever, along with Mastering Amazon Ads by Brian Meeks. All have FB groups. I read the threads every morning. I’ll be putting what I’ve learned into practise soon.
