Something to ponder…
First things first… I missed the "Oh, How I Miss You Blogfest". What a bummer… 🙁 Life just got in the way and I've been super-hectic ever since… so there you have it…
At this time of the year, I think the wise thing would be to schedule posts, especially bloghops/blogfests and other posts that can be planned/written in advance… as simple as that. Problem solved.
I leave you with something to think about…
SENSATIONALISM OR STUPIDITY?
The human psyche is amazing, unfathomable, unbelievable, mysterious… sometimes ludicrous, crazy, whacky… Makes me think of the famous quote: If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, I know I can achieve it! It means that whatever you think you can succeed in, you can actually make it a reality! (Quite a frightening notion, when you think deeply about it; and considering all the whackos running around aimlessly out there…) But the following example of that inspirational quote, is really the "cherry on top of the cake"!
It was the end of 2010, when I read about the 49-year-old Spanish woman who claimed ownership of the sun. Yep. The same four-and-a-half-billion-year-old heavenly body that has an average surface temperature of around 6000 degrees centigrade. She registered the star at a local notary. She filed paperwork–had the documents to prove it.
Why on earth would any normal, sensible, rational human being want to own the sun? I mean, the sun, of all the things to choose from! What a selfish notion!! And greedy!! *sighs* Whatever happened to sharing? *sighs again* Where does such an idea originate from anyway? Is it a sudden brainwave? A vision? A life-long ambition? A burning desire?(pun definitely intended) *giggles*
Is the goal of ownership to generate money? Is it a publicity stunt to attract fame and (hopefully) fortune? Or is it the action of a slightly unbalanced mind? After all, it has been said that the line between sanity and insanity is a fine and fragile divide… You never know when you have crossed over to the other side…
And Madame Spaniard intended to slap a fee on every person who used the sun. It would be really hilarious, if it weren't so damn stupid! I remember reading something a few weeks after the "sun story", that a religious group claimed ownership of yoga. I wonder if they filed any papers?

That is unbelievably stupid. But it kind of makes me think of the people who "discovered" the Americas and claimed it as theirs.
Unbelievably stupid is an understatement! Throughout history you will notice the pattern, whenever land has been "discovered", the indigenous inhabitants are "conveniently" ignored…
Funny how we think we can own things like the sun. I don't think so! Silly people!
For you and I, it's a crazy notion… but there are others who really believe such a thing is possible… scary! 🙂

Makes me wonder, during the recent crazy and non-stop raining weather we've been experiencing, wouldn't the "owner of the sun" be held accountable? That means she could be sued for poor service delivery… LOL.

Unless it was a tongue-in-cheek response to what we all take for granted. I know I sure miss the sun this time of year. Where we live a lot of people talk as if they own the lake, especially out front of their place. Nobody owns the shoreline and never will. It's free. Like air and … the sun! Haha. Silly lady, or maybe one brick short of a load.
I don't think it was tongue-in-cheek. Your lake is amazing… no wonder the nearby residents are 'claiming' a share of its beauty… but as you say, nobody owns it. That lady is one brick short – definitely!

I agree that pre-writing posts is the way to go at the moment . . .I've been doing that most days . . .and even marking them in the calendar section of my e-mail. Kind of crazy.
There's just so much going on at the moment… and the blogfests/bloghops seem to be endless… but too exciting to miss out on…

Prescheduling would require being organised and I'm not so good with that at the moment 😉

What happens if you get sunburn? Could you blame her? Maybe for excessive service delivery? LOL 🙂
Maybe I could sue her for some of my skin damage. Of course it had nothing to do with laying out in our backyard with sun reflectors as a kid! Great story!
Ha! Ha! There are thousands of sunburn victims… every person who ever suffered from sunburn would have a field day… imagine the number of lawsuits?
Some people are total stunned bunnies. Although if the solar flares do any damage to satellites or telescopes or the ISS, maybe NASA can sue her… 🙂

Wow, that is a crazy story. Your sensationalism or stupidity question makes me think of Black Friday and all the INSANITY of the after Thanksgiving sales. I know you don't have to deal with that, but watching those crazy people on the news fighting each other for cheap towels they'd never even want any other day of the year just makes me shake my head in shame for my fellow citizens.
Well, that's human nature… some of them probably just 'go with the masses'… never a dull moment, hey? I sometimes think that, quite often, people don't really know what they want…

Ya the bit about owning the sun is just ridiculous. Someone did the same for the moon and sold real estate as a novelty gift. I thought it was funny at the time but it never occurred to me that someone could really believe they should be the rightful owner of a celestial body that all of humanity relies on.
And I agree that the psyche is a powerful tool that is underestimated all the time. We can convince ourselves of anything, and that's as scary as it is empowering. The human brain is the ultimate weapon. WHich is why we must equally nurture the soul.
