R is for RHINOTILLEXOMANIA

Righty-o! Let's rock-'n-roll. But first… rapid revision required. Are you relieved, rattled, or revved up and ready to rendezvous on R-Day? It rushes in and raises the realisation that rest, relaxation, refreshment and rejuvenation are required to recover as the the raw and rattled nerves resist… reluctant and resenting the daily ritual. Reminder: responsible posting = roaring results. You'll reap the rewards.

The PinYin A to Z Project

Yóu xì bî mò fãn yì fei huà……..

— is an old Chinese philosophy which refers to somebody who has the innate ability to decipher unusual words.

JUST JOKING.

(you can read the details about this challenge and the competition running throughout the month of April)

The word for Day 18 is—

                                                 RHINOTILLEXOMANIA

The gradual and incurable mental, psychological and emotional deterioration experienced by rhinoceros poachers, who suffer with never-ending nightmares and hallucinations which are the result of their terrible and inexcusable activities.

So that's my definition. What's yours? Post it in the comment box below. Remember you stand to win a prize.

I was thinking more along the lines of Mad Rhino Disease…

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 5:47 pm

Have the mad cows passed the disease along to the rhinos…?

  2. Trisha on April 21, 2013 at 2:31 am

I'd love to live in a world where rhino poachers end up suffering, they deserve it!! Bastards!!!

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 5:52 pm

Appropriate expletive! You're actually letting them off lightly…

  3. Al Diaz on April 21, 2013 at 12:22 pm

The mania to stick your finger in your nose. 🙂

  4. Ida Chiavaro on April 21, 2013 at 1:10 pm

I vote Rhinotillexamania ends up referring to a time people all over the world, fanatically united in their fight, to pick out the people who poach… and that time is now.  Great word, great message.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 5:56 pm

A welcome global frenzy! Bring on the mania and let's rid the world of this scourge!

  5. Carol Kilgore on April 21, 2013 at 2:01 pm

Rhinotillexomania is the fear of nonstop sneezing suffered by people with chronic allergies.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 5:58 pm

These people should practise holding in their breathe… mania solved!

  6. DL Hammons on April 21, 2013 at 2:40 pm

It's the mental disease where people believe their noses are growing long and sharp! 🙂

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 5:59 pm

…also commonly referred to as the "Pinnochio Syndrome"… 🙂

  7. Pat Hatt on April 21, 2013 at 4:57 pm

Horn up the arse payback syndrome?

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 6:06 pm

Bullseye! *hilarious mental image flashes before eyes*

Sounds like an advertisment for a flooring store. "Come down this weekend for Rhino Tillex-O-Mania!"

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 6:11 pm

Rhino-patterned outdoor paving for your entertainment area, bringing the wild right to your doorstep… I can just see it…

  9. melanie schulz on April 21, 2013 at 6:49 pm

    Relaxing on my restful rotunda.

  10. Julie Flanders on April 21, 2013 at 7:10 pm

Your definition is perfect. Poachers make me ill!

  11. Su-sieee! Mac on April 21, 2013 at 7:23 pm

Rhinotillexomania: (noun): The state of insanity caused by a crazy itchy nose during a nose job.

Blame it on the anaesthetist… well, somebody's gotta take the blame. LOL

  12. Nancy LaRonda Johnson on April 22, 2013 at 3:45 am

Actually, if you really look at the word, it's fairly clear what it means. It's a strong obsession to pick in, at or tug on your nose.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 6:24 pm

Awww! What happened to your weird, whacky and wonderful definition?

      • Nancy LaRonda Johnson on April 22, 2013 at 11:53 pm

Hey, I get tired too! Sometimes it's enough to just get a fitting definition in, and too much to try and be funny. Maybe it's an emotional roundabout I'm going through. My posts lately have been on the serious side.

  13. Elise Fallson on April 22, 2013 at 9:15 am

The need to put small objects up ones nose. Can you tell I've got a nose for these definitions? (:

    • Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 6:28 pm

You sure are a nosy gal! Everybody nose this… LOL

  14. Mina B. on April 22, 2013 at 3:52 pm

    That's a good one.  Here's mine:

Rhinotillexomania:  A type of plastic surgury madness where a fenzy of people decide to extends and lifts the nose and eventually sucumb to vanity and snobery.

Used in a sentence:  Rhinotillexomania decended upon the doctor's office after his staff created a discount for plastic surgury services.

  15. C. Lee McKenzie on April 22, 2013 at 4:11 pm

Quite simply, Rhinotillexomania is the excessive fear of large noses.

  16. mary aalgaard on April 22, 2013 at 6:17 pm

I thought of Mina's, too, and Rhino tiles. Hmm. How about obsessive nose piercing/rings.

  17. Michelle Wallace on April 22, 2013 at 6:37 pm

That could work too. A cool definition.

  18. Medeia Sharif on April 23, 2013 at 6:41 am

This is a condition in which a person is obsessed with their prickly, scaly skin.

  19. Beverly on April 24, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Yours is best, but I love Mina's too.

Whatever it is, it'll undoubtedly be included in the DSM V!

    • Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 8:56 pm

DSMV? I'm lost… my brain is non-functional…  it's been "fried" by the A to Z challenge.
