DRABBLE CHALLENGE ~ ROAR

The drabble challenge is a weekly challenge hosted by Aheila on her blog: http://thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com A reminder how it works: read the prompt and find your angle; write a drabble (100 word story, give or take 5 words); post a direct link to the drabble in your comments

The Merfolk harboured a deep-seated distrust for the Human Race, so the announcement met with a roar of disapproval.

The Elder held up his hand. "It is our way, part of an age-old tradition. She will have to leave us for a while."

Some of the older mermaids recalled a horrific tale – a mermaid had been captured by Humans and put on public display…

"She will remember little about this life. When she reaches twenty one years, memories will return and she can choose: remain with the Humans or return to the Merpeople."

Syrenelle understood. She bowed her head in submission.

It's not often your drabbles use this genre, but I'm really happy you posted this one. It's a definite thought-provoking piece with great potential for a short story, novel or series. Nicely doone, M!
