S is for Staying Positive…

Welcome to your daily dose of inspiration:
In Darkness Be Light.

Since social media and news in recent times has been filled with so much hate and negativity, these simple reminders aim at promoting positivity and lightening up your day.

Staying positive does not mean that things will always turn out okay. Rather it is knowing that YOU will be okay no matter how things turn out. unknown

Would you like to be a part of spreading positivity? Check out the We Are The World Blogfest, which aims at promoting positive news. Here’s the shortened version:

  • Keep your post to below 500 words, as much as possible.
  • All we ask is you link to a human news story on your blog on the last Friday of each month, one that shows love, humanity, and brotherhood. Something like this news, about a man who only fosters terminally ill children.
  • Join us on the last Friday of each month in sharing news.

Remaining positive—and striving to make the best of whatever situation you find yourself in—really does make even the most challenging situations easier to bear. You can train yourself to be positive. Do you agree?

“You will be okay no matter how things turn out” – golden words! But difficult to assimilate when young. Experience proves this to be true.

    Best wishes,

That’s exactly it. Still hoping for the best but knowing you’ll be okay no matter what.

Nice quote to remember. I guess the training period is called life!

Hi Michelle – I remain positive and that saying is almost my mantra – I know things will be all right at the right time – but I’m ok for now and will continue to be so – while I move (slowly) forward … cheers Hilary

Being positive also means believing in one’s strength and ability to tide over anything… And it means imbibing a change in perspective!
    A thought provocative post.

I absolutely believe we can choose how we respond to things, and positivity is a choice we can make.

Lovely post Michelle thank you. When we are feeling sad or however, that is how we are feeling and it is surely to be acknowledged? Experience can show though that dark times do pass and we can emerge from them hopefully a little stronger, of this I am positive/sure. There are times these days, living in this troubled country of ours, when I do not feel positive. I remain positive about the peoples of South Africa, but NOT of the cabal in ‘leadership’ positions.

Wonderful quote for today! Our perspective colors our world, if we strive to keep it positive we will see the world as more positive, or at least be able to see what is positive in it.

I took the plunge and signed up for the blogfest! I hope to find stories local to my area, stories that touch my own heart.

That is a wonderful definition. My spirituality help along those lines, too.

That is good advice. One of the reason I never tell people ‘it will be okay’ is because I’m sure they know it already, but at the moment it doesn’t feel like it, so I’d rather offer other words of comfort.

This is so true. I was at a BarBQue place with my friend yesterday (22 Apr 2017) and the gentleman behind the counter was being challenged with a line of people. As we got closer I heard him mention that a fellow staff member did not show up and another became ill. Leaving him alone to be both server and cashier behind the counter. Thinking about that how would you act? Now I’ll tell you how he responded. He took each set of customers as they came to him. As the next set came up he said, “I’ll be with you shortly,” He continued with the customer in front of him. Completing each food order then checking them out at the register. As he came up to the next set of customers, he apologized for the wait and took their order and so forth. He did all of this with grace and positive manner. It impressed me and gave me a bit of positive energy. As he asked each customer how their meal was, I heard everyone say great things. Did the food taste better because he showed “love” with each customer’s meal? Possibly, but mostly it was a wonderful feeling to have someone act so cheerful despite what cards he was dealt that day. His one regret was that he didn’t get to be out in the sunshine that day. I assured him that in a way he was better off inside. I had gotten overheated and a bit sick. The meal and his attitude helped make me feel so much better. That is the power of staying positive. ~ fellow #WATWB member

I like spreading these kinds of messages. It does seem like things are always so crummy and negative and a lot of people, including myself, can find themselves bogged down and depressed.

Staying positive can sometimes be easier said than done, but it’s something that is worth practicing every day!

I love that quote. I need to remember it, and pull it out as needed. I do think people can train themselves to be more positive, but it’s definitely a challenge.
