S is for SLUMGULLION

Sheesh! S-Day settles slowly… Summoning all scribes who are still stressing, struggling silently… and those super savvy, high-spirited ones, smiling smugly as they sail smoothly into S-Day sharing stylish snippets, skilfull sentences and sparkling stories… show-offs! So, if you are stuck, then a speedy solution to strengthen, support and sustain spinning senses is sorely needed. Shazaam! Or spontaneous scribbles should save the day…

The PinYin A to Z Project

JUST JOKING.

(you can read the details about this challenge and the competition running throughout the month of April)

The word for Day 19 is—

                                                SLUMGULLION

Ratticus Humungous, more commonly known as a slumgullion, is a recently identified hybrid species belonging to the rodent family, with an asexual reproductive mechanism, which is overpopulating the slum areas and wreaking havoc.

Slumgullion is a dish made from leftovers in your fridge and pantry. It usually takes the form of a stew or soup.

One big arse rat, make the cat think lunch for a week!

    Carol's is good!

It's a restaurant chain best avoided.

Yeah, that seems like a fitting name for a not-very-attractive creature. Can't come up with anything to top that. 🙂

He's an eyesore… you wouldn't want to run into his crew, after dark… 🙂

Actually my sister dated a slumgullion. He was very cute and charming. Initially.

After awhile you truly got a sense of the meaning of the word. He began complaining about the smallest things at a restaurant, insisted that my sister paid for her own meal, and began telling how it is the wife's job to take care of the husband. Only he meant financially as well as emotionally.

Well, you get the idea. A slumgullion is someone who tricks you into thinking they are a wonderful person until you get into a situation where you can't easily just walk away and slam the door on their face. You have to wait at least until the bill is paid.

Ha! Slumgullions are masters of deception. Like chameleons…

I loved Nancy's definition! My first thought = a place to live just above being homeless. Really have loved your A to Z theme this month!

Oh, Michelle, this is a good word. The Slumgullion is the gopher for a slum lord… he has to do the dirty work and pic up the renter's checks in rundown delapedated buildings. IF he doesn't get the rent, he puts the thumbscrews to them.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 11:27 am

He sounds unscrupulous… sleaze of the heighest order…

  8. Medeia Sharif on April 23, 2013 at 6:40 am

Slumgullion sounds like some street urchin from Victorian times.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 11:28 am

Reminds me of Oliver Twist and his crew running wild on the streets of London…

Slumgulliones are seagulls who live in slums!

  10. Meradeth on April 23, 2013 at 1:32 pm

I'm totally cracking up over these! So many good ones.

Slumgullion is the crud you get on your shoes after slummin' it. Possibly in the slums.

That paticular slumgullion looks very content. He/she must've just reproduced with him/herself.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 11:36 am

Convenient form of reproduction… you don't have to wait on anything else, just pop out the mini-gullions like a high energy production line…

  12. mary aalgaard on April 23, 2013 at 2:04 pm

It's something that is worth less than what you paid for it. That has sunk into the slumgullions.

    • Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 11:37 am

Items that depreciate in value…? There are lots of those around…

  13. C. Lee McKenzie on April 23, 2013 at 3:56 pm

Stay away from the slumgulllion at all cost. It's in a bad area. It smells. It might bring on dry heaves. Heed this warning.

  14. Elise Fallson on April 23, 2013 at 8:50 pm

A slumgullion is a mythical creature, akin to a troll. They live in the shadows and are bearers of the coming apocalypse. If you see a slumgullion, the end is near.

    or something like that. 😀

  15. Julie on April 24, 2013 at 2:24 am

Slumgullions are all you can eat buffets for seagulls.

  16. Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 11:43 am

I want to be a seagull in my next life… imagine having the power to soar above the sea, high into the sky, plus access to this amazing all-you-can-eat-buffet? It doesn't get better than that.

  17. Beverly on April 24, 2013 at 8:29 pm

I think Nancy's is my favorite, but these are all great.

I say it's a terribly morose person, someone who acts like Eyore all the time- "Thank's for noticin' me…"

As in "Don't be such a Slumgullion!"

    • Michelle Wallace on April 24, 2013 at 8:59 pm

Like a "party pooper" kinda person… always sullen… I can see it.
