Celebrate The Small Things
QUOTE: The same ten minutes that magazines urge me to use for sit-ups and triceps dips, I used for sobbing. Tina Fey, Bossypants.
FACT: Only about 8% of schools in South Africa have some form of physical education as part of the curriculum.
This past week 5 000 kids took part in a 50-hour exercise challenge, in an attempt to make a statement about keeping fit and fight childhood obesity, and to get physical education back into our schools! It's cause for celebration!
In other celebratory news…
~ It's the 01st of the second month… that's cause for celebration isn't it? new month… a fresh start… new opportunities…
~ I won a $10 Amazon gift card this week… yay!
~ I signed up for the 2013 A to Z Challenge which will be my 3rd one!
~ I finalised 2 fictional pieces for up-and-coming bloghops
~ To date, 24 bloggers have signed up for my first ever collaborative bloghop hosting gig (to celebrate my blog-o-versary) … more details HERE
~ I managed to visit ALL the participants who signed up for the Please Re-introduce Yourself Blogfest that took place on Monday – a toal of 143 bloggers (I wanted to find out how the ninja captain does it… I believe his visiting record is something like 100 blogs in an hour…? and after all that, I still don't know how he manages… it was a crazy and great experience which I may or may-not be repeating in future…)
So have you signed up for the A to Z Challenge yet, or taken part in any bloghops recently? Are you celebrating anything this past week? Please share with us.
Congrats on visiting all those blogs, and getting two fictional pieces done, and getting ready for your first blogfest for your blogaversary! Wow! You've had a successful week! The Ninja Captain's ability to get around so quickly makes me wonder if he's been assimilated into the Borg collective . . .either that or he's a way faster connection that I do.
No matter which way you look at it, it's amazing what the Ninja Captain accomplishes… I can tell you that I was totally 'out of it' after those visits…
Yay, its the 1st! New opportunities indeed 😉
Congrats on the $10 Amazon card. Great job finishing those 2 fictional pieces and ALL the other accomplishments, you busy this week!
Yes, I had quite a busy week! 🙂
Those kids need to exercise more!
Some great things this week for you. Glad you're on board for another Challenge.
And it's not easy being me…
Not easy being you… that's an understatement… HOW DO YOU MANAGE IT?
Congrats on visiting all those blogs! And yay for February 😉 We both celebrated that! I am thinking of signing up for the A-Z…
Sign up for the challenge… as Nike says – JUST DO IT! 🙂
WOW a lot to celebrate here! Love winning prizes – congrats on the gift card. And WOWIE that was a lot of blogs to visit. I confess I have a hard time always visiting everyone on this blog hop and there are only like 35. I commend your efforts!! I am excited to start February as well as I hope this will be the month I finish up the first draft of my first novel ever! YAY! Thanks for sharing!
The first draft of your first novel – I'll be rooting for you! Yay!
Kudos to you on visiting so many blogs! And congratulations on all your other good news. 🙂
I've signed up for the A-Z Challenge, too.
Thanks GE. 🙂 I remember learning lots of scientific things from your blog during the last A to Z.
Those are definitely worthy celebrations. You've got to have bionic eyes to read so many blogs on a regular basis, and I hope that you get them if you're planning on keeping up with the ninja captain!
Keeping up with the Ninja Captain? Never! I just wanted to try it as a one-off exercise… 🙂 Thanks Nancy.
Nice news bit added into this post. Really cool you were able to visit all those blogs. I'm in the A – Z too, and am looking forward to the fun! Sounds like you've had a great week. Here's hoping you have a marvelous weekend too!
Thanks M.J. Enjoy your weekend too!
Wow, you've done so much this week! Ican't imagine posting on 143 blogs. Go you!! 🙂
Lexa, it was C-R-A-Z-Y posting on all those blogs! At least I've had the experience. 🙂
Sounds like you really enjoy a challenge. Congratulations on everything.
Challenges are good… they keep us on our toes! Thanks Julia.
You have so many good things in your list. I also tried once to do what does but his clones are more willing to follow his orders right than my dwarves. 🙂
Thanks Al. I don't think any of us will get it right anytime soon… 🙂
Nobody can no the ninja. I've tried. Plus I don't have the right body parts.
Congrats on all everything you accomplished this week. I also signed up for AtoZ.
Body parts? Okay, does that mean there are extra limbs/eyes/fingers that enable the ninja to move around, read and respond so quickly…?
I'm impressed with that achievement by your nation's children and yes, I agree that a new month is indeed cause for celebration. Yup, that blogfest was a challenge and I still haven't covered everybody. Good that managed to do it. Well done, Michelle.
Hopefully the kids can get that important message through… thanks Joy!
That's a lot of things, PZ! I'm with you on the AtoZ–fingers crossed.
Well, that was an interesting Freudian thing I just did, Michelle. Thinking of PZ and writing a comment to you seemed to have put an overload on my poor brain.
*chuckles* Give the poor brain a rest C.Lee…
Good job visiting all the people from the last blog hop. Yes – I don't know how the Ninja Captain manages to visit everyone. I guess that's why he's the captain!
I think you're right about that… but I'm sure it's not easy being the captain…
Wow. That's a lot of blogs to visit! And don't worry–nobody can outdo Alex and his army of clones. haha. I'm all signed up for your bloghop!! 🙂
Thanks for joining the bloghop Tamara! 🙂
south africa is on my list to visit. i have another friend there getting married in nov.
and yay for your visiting & winning!
Yay! Maybe we'll have a chance to meet…? That would be great.
Yes, I signed up for A to Z. It'll be my second time.
I love the beginning of every month. It feels like a fresh start.
I'm looking forward to the A to Z Challenge! Thanks Medeia.
Great Tina Fey quote! I hope that they'll start incorporating more physical education into the schools now. Looking forward to participating in both your blogfest and A to Z!
Yay! Glad to have you on board for our bloghop, Julie!
That's an amazing feat visiting all those blogs! Have fun with your $10 card. And the She Said What Blog Hop sounds like fun!
Thanks Stephen! I already used the card to purchase e-books!
Kudos on all those visits! I signed up for A-Z, too.
Thanks Carol! Have you done the A-Z before? This will be my third… 🙂
WOW! You convinced me. You are such a blogging superstar that I must participate in your very fun-sounding blogfest. Very creative idea.
Thanks Kim! … "blogging superstar" ? I don't think so… I just enjoy a challenge. 🙂
Oh my! That's a lot of blogs!
I signed up for the A to Z challenge, too. Now I just need to get started on my pre-writing, so I have a chance of making it work!
Pre-writing is a good idea. You'll be more prepared when April comes around! 🙂
