Spasmodic Invasion
This is a response to the 100 Word Challenge which is hosted over at Velvet Verbosity . This week the word is – OCCUPY .
It seeped in … crept into every pore of her being , like a virus invading a host and multiplying a thousand times , spreading … until it eventually filled her every waking moment . It was a mental , physical and emotional saturation , like a wet sponge , soaked and heavy , unable to suck up another drop of liquid .
The empty spaces of her existence were no more . It whispered to her from every corner , crevice , nook and cranny . She could not escape its pull , its power , its passion .
She surrendered … it was a welcome relief … allowed the madness to occupy every facet of her life .
Very descriptive, love it!
Thank you for the visit and positive comment ! Much appreciated .
Wow, what a powerful image you set here, and it feels very genuine and real, if difficult to embrace. (You wouldn't want it to be easy, would you?)
No , I wouldn’t want it to be easy … it’s good to push the boundaries … try to raise the bar a little … (know what I mean ?)
Thank you for the wow response … it speaks volumes … 🙂
Very intriguing! It could be a poem. It had a flow to it.
I love intrigue … it’s the name of my game … 🙂 Thanks S !
Wonderful imagery! A very real description of a troubled mind.
Yes , a troubled mind that ultimately submits to the forces that threaten to occupy it … thanks Tara !
makes me think of zombies. How they infect you and make you one of them…this MIGHT also be because my 3yo is obsessed with them 😉
Great piece. Visiting from 100 words
The “zombie angle” is also a possibility … it could work 🙂
Liked the two similes in a row, felt like a mirror of her thoughts. Robin
Thanks for the comment Robin – I appreciate it !
Wow, indeed. Describes perfectly the spiral that closes in on a troubled mind,
