I’m Thankful For… Bloghop

Today is the I'm Thankful For… bloghop, hosted by Tara Tyler and Vikki.

      Here’s the rules, folks:

  1. Sign up on the Linky List below.
  2. Post thanks to your readers on your blog between Monday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 7 by 1700 UK/1200 noon EST US time.
  3. And if you don’t have a CP and you would like to find one, go ahead and post a ‘personals’ ad.
  4. Be CREATIVE. Write a letter, a piece of flash fiction, a haiku, a poem, or a vlog. It can take whatever form you like. We’d like it if you kept it under 300 words but won’t be counting.
  5. Naming your reader(s) is up to you and feel free to link to them.
  6. Hop around and comment on other people’s!

                                                    *          *          *          *          *          *

I'm thankful for the wonderful and supportive online community. I've made so many friends in the blogosphere, and every reader is important to me. However, it would be really difficult to name each and every one who has visited my blog. What I've decided instead, is to go with a poetry tribute which includes about 35 different bloggers without revealing their actual names. See how many bloggers/writers you recognise from the poem.

                                                     POEM OF GRATITUDE

Choc-full of fun and characters galore

Top class entertainment, that is for sure.

Sir-Poops-A-Lot, Hairball and Secondhand Shoes

With a multi-cloned Blogfather, no way we can lose!

Sci-fi galore and an aerial perspective

Geri and Cooper make POP quite selective.

Insects and bugs, even Billy and Roach,

Bubba and Schultz know that mama’s a grouch.

Spunk on a tip with a circle of friends

An emptynestinsider setting a trend.

Sexy firefighter Gabe, not only in name…

Small town Ms. Walker, on top of her game.

Distraction, contraband… oh what a joy

Play off the page, each ‘big’ girl and boy.

The overwhelming anxiety of Nora Dunn

Fruit sale cinquain is snappy and fun!

Jazz and Sebastian’s fated love connection

Craze and Bast’s bioengineered perfection

Olympic snowboarding dreams are crushed

A nurse in the rainforest… a secret is bust!

Meet feisty yet vulnerable Almira Abdul

Battling exam fears and bullies, nine-year-old Rahul

Get busy writing The Principal’s Daughter

Ty almost leads Hannah, straight to the slaughter.

Knotty pine ceilings, creatures overhead

Brendell and Zoe, broken but not dead.

It seems that infiltration is an art

Well, W.I.P. It and you will be smart.

The magic of stories, tweet tales to explore

Journeys of wonder, grade 5 tests, and more.

A zombie dog that needs to be fed

A variety of scribblings, waiting to be read.

That’s it folks, before I get into trouble

For exceeding the word count – I'm out, on the double!

                                                             THE END

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I really enjoyed writing this poem. If I've left anybody out, please forgive me! It was not intentional and I've run out of ideas….

How many bloggers/writers did you pinpoint? Is your story featured here? Recognised any of your WIPcharacters?

And before I conclude my post… I'm wondering about the CP issue. I know there are one or two writers who have offered, in not so many words, to help in this capacity, but I don't want to take things for granted… I'm not sure if a person needs to have one/two/three or more CP's? My writing genre is suspense and I do have a WIP, but I'm a very slow writer…?

  8. Viklit on November 5, 2012 at 6:57 pm

What a great poem, I love it! So creative and an added element of MYSTERY about who is who. Thank you so much for joining in the bloghop!
As for CPs, I think it is good to get more than one opinion myself and it can take time to find people you click with and who are giving the right level of info that you need. If that helps!

    • michelle on November 6, 2012 at 9:47 pm

Viklit, thank you for hosting such an awesome bloghop! I also appreciate the CP advice… it definitely helps, especially taking time to find people you click with… that point is very important!

  9. J.L. Campbell on November 5, 2012 at 7:00 pm

    Michelle,
Good job. Cool way to incorporate your pals and yeah, I spotted mine. I'd be happy to read for you if you like, although I'm not in the blogfest. Suspense sounds right up my street. To my mind, you can have as many CP's as you like, just as long as you don't get confused by all the advice coming frmo different angles. I like to tell those in my workshop – always remember, you're the god of your story.

    • J.L. Campbell on November 5, 2012 at 7:01 pm

I'm compulsive, so I gotta tell you that bit of garble was meant to be 'from'.

    • michelle on November 6, 2012 at 9:50 pm

Thanks for the CP offer, Joy. I really appreciate it! 🙂 I'll shoot you a mail one of these days. I like the phrase – you're the god of your story! 🙂

  24. Rachna Chhabria on November 7, 2012 at 3:12 am

Super poem, Michelle. My Rahul is getting famous even before his story is ready for the world. I super loved this ode. Thanks alot. Hugs.

  25. michelle on November 7, 2012 at 10:22 am

Oh Rachna, I love that you called it an ode. I wanted to use the title Ode To Gratitude, but changed my mind (I don't know why) at the last minute… Virtual hugs to you. 🙂

  26. Crystal Collier on November 7, 2012 at 3:18 pm

Nice! I think as far as CP's go, it's the number you feel comfortable with. I have a # of beta readers who are not CP's, and only a couple CP's I exchange with off and on, dependent on when we're ready for feedback. I think the key is having good CP's who will really help you narrow down the rough spots. I hope things work out with your CP's. I haven't critiqued Suspense, but I do read it. Good stuff. If you're looking for another beta or CP, give me a holler. (I'm a slow writer too.) I'm always open to exchanging first chapters to see I'm compatible with others.

  27. michelle on November 7, 2012 at 5:11 pm

Crystal, thank you for popping in! I might just take you up on that offer! I like the idea of exchanging a chapter or two, to test the compatibility factor… sounds like a workable plan. 🙂

  28. Suzanne Furness on November 7, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Very clever, I managed to pick out a few hidden bloggers in there!

    • michelle on November 8, 2012 at 9:14 am

Thanks Suzanne! I really enjoyed crafting this piece and tried to include as many bloggers as possible… I started it late, time was tight… and then I ran out of steam at the end…  🙂

  29. Jemi Fraser on November 7, 2012 at 9:20 pm

that is completely awesome!!! You are good!!! 🙂

    • michelle on November 8, 2012 at 9:15 am

  35. Carrie Butler on November 8, 2012 at 9:44 pm

    • michelle on November 9, 2012 at 7:14 am

      Thanks Carrie.  🙂

  36. Leslie Rose on November 12, 2012 at 3:35 am

What a blast to read your poem. I'm so honored to have been included and it was fun to puzzle out other friends. I would crumble without all the great blogger support. Whenever I'm being smacked down with self-doubt inspriation is only a few keyboard strokes away.

    • michelle on November 12, 2012 at 2:58 pm

Thanks Leslie! Glad you popped in!

    • michelle on November 15, 2012 at 10:39 pm

Yes… just managed to squeeze in scattergun scribblings before I ran out of words… 🙂 Bigheaded? No ways, that doesn't sound like you. 🙂
