The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#115

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.

The awesome co-hosts for the October posting of the IWSG are:  Jemima Pett, J Lenni Dorner, Cathrina Constantine, Ronel Janse van Vuuren, and Mary Aalgaard!

Don’t forget to visit them and thank them for co-hosting!

Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!

October 6th Question – In your writing, where do you draw the line, with either topics or language? I’ll have to think about this one. But not today… because the 100words100days challenge has FRIED my brain!!

Today is day 98 of my 100words100days challenge. I’m worn out, excited, frustrated, happy, relieved… a mixture of all the emotions.
Over the last 3 months, I’ve been writing every single day.
Every. Single. Day.
EVERY SINGLE DAY for 98 days!!
Crikey, it’s crazy because I have a day job that’s a FULL TIME job! I’ve been snatching time here, there and everywhere at strange times of the morning, noon and night, just to get my 100-odd words down on the page. After all, 100 words is a practical and doable number of words. I can remember one day when I was about to fall off to sleep – I grabbed my phone and in a trance-like state, began dictating the words.
TWO MORE DAYS!

A REMINDER – The next #IWSGPit Twitter pitch event is January 26, 2022! That’s only three months away.

Every year there are some great success stories. You could be one of them.

See the #IWSGPit page for full details.

HAPPY IWSG DAY!

I hear ya! Life can be chaotic in regular times. Add in all the ‘extras’ over the past 2 years and it’s hard to keep up. Yay you!

Hi Michelle – congratulations on now one more day … perhaps today is the last one … so pleased you’ve finished and achieved your goal. It’s good we’re busy though … but just enjoy being free of that commitment – though I suspect you’ll miss it. Take care – cheers Hilary

Congratulations! Writing every day and with a full time job! You rock!

100 words seems so manageable, and yet I imagine there are times when they just don’t come. I’d probably utilise a lot of nonsense words and channel my inner Lewis Carroll 🙂

Congrats on reaching the end. It’s Friday, so you have!!

Well done for keeping up with the challenge. I struggle to commit to writing daily. I know you have to find small chunks of time, but I’m an “all or nothing” person who likes to focus on something for hours on end or not at all. Balancing tasks has been a struggle my whole life.
