The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#128

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.

The awesome co-hosts for the December 07th posting of the IWSG are: Joylene Nowell Butler, Chemist Ken, Natalie Aguirre, Nancy Gideon, and Cathrina Constantine!

Don’t forget to visit them and thank them for co-hosting!

Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.

#IWSGPit is coming!
The next #IWSGPit will be on January 25, 2023
9:00 am – 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time

Create a Twitter-length pitch for your completed and polished manuscript and leave room for genre, age, and the hashtag. On January 25, 2023, Tweet your pitch. If your pitch receives a favorite/heart from a publisher/agent check their submission guidelines and send your requested query.
Many writers have seen their books published from a Twitter pitch – it’s a quick and easy way to put your manuscript in front of publishers and agents.

Here’s a graph of the January 2022 Twitter Pitch stats! There were over ten thousand tweets! We were trending!

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!

December 07th Question: It’s holiday time! Are the holidays a time to catch up or fall behind on writer goals?
In the perfect world, writers will be on schedule with their goals and holiday time will be a time to relax. In the real world, many writers use the holiday time to catch up… and many writers actually opt to do more writing during the holidays, simply because they have more time available. So I suppose it differs from one to the other.

I’ve been so busy during this year that I will definitely use the holidays to catch up with writing… as well as reading. I’m also going to continue with the revamp of my new website which sort-of stalled, due to time constraints.
Oh, and there’s the newsletter too… well, that’s another story. But I’ll get there.
But first I’m off to spend some time with family, so I’ll be out of town for about two weeks. Chat again when I return.

Happy IWSG Day!

P.S. My sincere apology if you visited my place and I haven’t returned the visit.
I need to check my comments and return the blog visits. I’ll get there…

Nice idea, but tweeting in a dead zone never seems to work.

Today, though, my almost favourite weather – a white frost, all day, Inspiirational., and so beautiful.

Not really a writer (yet) and have missed seeing everybody for so long. Catch up next year ?

Have a wonderful holiday, including writing.

This year I’m going to try very hard to join the pitch. I’ve got to get organized! Merry Christmas, Michelle!

Enjoy time with family. We need to pause, and do what nurtures us, as well.
The song I’ve been playing on the piano is Le Sommeil de l’Enfant by Teresa Carreno. I think you’d like it. Somewhat of a lullaby.

The holidays are family time for me. Enjoy your vacation, Michelle. I wish I were brave enough to do the twitter pitch. There’s so much for me to learn about this. Happy IWSG day! And Merry Christmas!

I’m definitely one of those people who does not get more time to themselves in the holiday season because all my would-be lunch hours dedicated to my own craft are now consumed by the kids who are on break and wanting my attention. At least they still like being around me. I’ll cherish it while I’ve got it.

Hi Michelle – hope you’re enjoying the family time – you’ve sounded mega-busy as usual … relax and recover! Life goes on doesn’t it … I don’t have to do much for this time of year – just accept any invitations and enjoy seeing family and friends. But I’m trying to catch my tail and get clean and tidy!! Cheers and all the best to you down there … happy festivities – Hilary
