Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.
Don’t forget to visit them and thank them for co-hosting!
Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!
March 01st Question: Have you ever read a line in a novel or a clever plot twist that caused you to have author envy?
It happens all the time. I love beautiful sentences and always wonder what went through the author’s mind when they wrote that particular sentence? It makes me think of the unforgettable opening lines of certain novels, like 1984 and Anna Karenina. Both perfect and beautiful, though so different.
In other news, I’m still battling the unbearable humidity but hopefully this is the beginning of the end… a brief respite from the heat would really help… I look forward to some cooler days as we move into autumn.
Happy IWSG Day!
Wouldn’t it be marvellous to peek into a favourite author’s mind?
Hope your autumn is cool and crisp!
Hopefully, your weather will get better soon. Ours too. It’s March already, but yesterday, it was snowing hard here, in Vancouver. I’m so ready for spring.
Hi Michelle! Yep. Weather. Let’s hope autumn is kinder to us than summer has been. Humidity saps your energy for sure. Hard to write unless in an air-conditioned room.
Humidity just sucks.
Meanwhile, we’ve slid completely into spring… Guess no snow this year.
Hopefully your humidity takes a hike soon.
Good point about the author’s thoughts. Though I’d guess they were on the story – or memory they were sharing. I hope Autumn is everything you look forward to. We’ve had more snow this winter (in the desert!) than I’ve seen in my entire life. Can’t wait for it to move on out.
Take care.
I wish I could send you my snow! I’m getting tired of scraping windows in the morning. 🙂
Please send your warm weather to Michigan. I can’t wait for spring.
Hi Michelle – yes I’ve heard it’s sultry down your way – we’re about to have cold snap here – so I’m looking forward to April and more Springlike weather. I must pay attention to first liners – I’ve just started a book by a refugee … in the prologue he states ‘Before I died, I contemplated how drowning would feel’ – thankfully he didn’t, but others did …
Life ticks along here – way too many books to read … but they await me … cheers Hilary
And here I sit bundled in my parka while I visit more blogs. It’s hard for me to imagine hot and sultry at the moment, especially since we just had a rare snow fall.
Here’s to some balmy temperatures for both of us.
Here in Texas, we’re going back and forth from the AC to the heater, sometimes in the same day! I love springtime, but I hate the pollen, and I’m not ready for summer temps just yet.
(Sorry I missed making visits for IWSG. My internet went out for over 40 hours.)
